West's Weekly Wrap-Up 11/10/2012

Dear Patriot,

Greetings to our constituents, fellow Floridians, and indeed all Americans, it is time to prepare our weekly update for dissemination. It has been a whirlwind of a week and truly a changing direction for our America.

As you all are aware, this is an official Congressional report and therefore we cannot discuss campaign related issues. Quite sure you are well aware of the current situation regarding our election.

There have been several items of concern this week which I believe are indicators of what a second term for this administration will look like.

At this moment I am watching the breaking news of the resignation of CIA Director General David Petraeus. As many of you may know this resignation is occurring the Friday before hearings are supposedly to be held next week on the Benghazi incident. General Petraeus, from a national security perspective, did the honorable thing by resignation, however I hope his leaving will not hinder getting to the truth on Benghazi. This also follows with the interestingly timely relief and retirement of USAFRICOM Commander General Carter Ham.

And that leads me to the second point, regarding Mark Basseley Youssef, the Coptic Christian immigrant from Egypt. He is the individual arrested as the culprit who unleashed Muslim anger because of a silly anti-Islam video. Not since Helen of Troy, “the face that launched a thousand ships,” have we seen one individual responsible for inciting more emotional outrage as reflected in the 11th anniversary of the September 11th Islamic terrorist attacks. He will now be serving one year for a parole violation.

Could it be that Mr. Youseef is being punished, as President Obama stated at his United Nations Assembly address, because “the future does not belong to those who insult the prophet of Islam?”

Which leads me to the next point… not only should President Obama’s statement cause us concern. We should also be concerned about the Organization of Islamic Countries who supported United Nation Resolution 1618, which would make any deemed offensive comment toward Islam an international crime.

On that note, a related United Nations issue is that within 24 hours of President Obama’s reelection, the United States signed on with another 156 other countries to the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, while Russia voted against it. This treaty which would require the United States Senate approval of a treaty which will have certain adverse effects upon our Constitutional Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Following along with more international occurrences, am I the only one who finds it odd that only days before the national elections, Iran fired upon a United States drone? The drone was operating in open airspace when two Iranian jets fired upon it. Now, why is it that we heard nothing about this until after the election? Kind of like us not knowing about a Russian attack submarine operating undetected in the Gulf of Mexico for some two months. Is this the future of our national security?

Back years ago when I was a teenager living during the administration of President Jimmy Carter, I recall the Saudi oil embargo crisis, which resulted in fuel rationing, on odd/even days. History has an impeccable way of repeating itself - just ask the folks up in New Jersey and New York. Amazing that we can send aid halfway around the globe to Indonesia and Japan, yet Americans are freezing and destitute right here, due to the incompetence of government agency relief efforts.

But you just do not hear a peep from the mainstream media on this stuff.

Lastly, I think you all now realize that the “fiscal cliff” is indeed real. It has been something that I have been discussing for quite some time and stock market behavior following the reelection of President Obama is just an indicator. The “sell-off” which has seen the Dow Jones Industrial Average drop some 430 points, 3.3%, in three days should cause concern. We are seeing individuals who recognize the fact that capital gains and dividends taxes will rise from 15% to 25% and 43.4% respectively. Money is moving away from stocks and towards bonds. The predictable economic growth of America will be horribly affected.

The misguided belief that raising taxes will solve the problem will only bring about another recession.

The President’s Fiscal Year 2013 budget called for $1.9 trillion in new taxes, but the debt grows from $16 trillion to $20 trillion in four years and to $26 trillion in ten years. Deficits never go below $900 billion and the President’s budgets never balance… but you do get a 53% increase in the growth of the federal government.

If we do not expand our tax base, lower rates, eliminate exemptions, and provide tax and monetary policy certainty we are truly heading off that cliff like Thelma and Louise.

We are dangerously close to the tipping point.

In closing, 10 November, 2012 is the 237th birthday of the greatest fighting force known to mankind, the United States Marine Corps -- Semper Fidelis.

And Sunday is Veterans Day. Welcome home brothers and sisters, and God bless those of us who have taken that oath of office to serve, sacrifice, and commit to this great nation --the longest running Constitutional Republic the world has ever known, these United States of America.

Steadfast and Loyal,

Allen B. West

The vote turn out against West In St Lucie County was higher than the registered voter roll. St Lucie County is where Palm Beach County exported its HOOD to in the housing boom.

Wow Ken I hadn't heard about that. You got me to look it up though...

St. Lucie County Reports 141.1% Voter Turnout.. Results Impact Allen West’s ‘Failed’ Reelection Bid

That's pretty huge!

quote:

out of 175,554 registered voters, 247,713 vote cards were cast in St. Lucie County, Florida on Tuesday.

Kind of puts to rest the argument that voter fraud doesn't happen at the polling booth.

Remember the UN poll watchers? Too bad they were brought in to watch conservative districts. Here's what they were shocked about though...

Foreign election officials amazed by trust-based U.S. voting system

quote:

The most often noted difference between American elections among the visitors was that in most U.S. states, voters need no identification. Voters can also vote by mail, sometimes online, and there's often no way to know if one person has voted several times under different names, unlike in some Arab countries, where voters ink their fingers when casting their ballots.

Shocking that the media doesn't cover this stuff better. Perhaps shocking is the wrong word. Anticipated might fit better.

Doesn't make me wonder at all, although I know your comment was rhetorical. Good on Congressman West for fighting, instead of just walking away. America needs more leaders like him.

It's a bit off topic here, but who heard about this... Where Obama Was 99-Percent Pure

I know if there was 99% of the vote coming in for a Republican in a victorious election it would be investigated by the press and Congress. I also know there would be huge cries of racism if the Republican was white and the Democrat was Black. I'm beginning to think there might be some sort of double standard at play. Hard to say though. Welcome to "post racial" America!

So what can FL do at this point. About the only thing I see as a fair option, given the obviously flawed first election, would be a new election.

Looks like West only lost by 2,442 votes. The over vote in that one precinct alone I way more than what's needed to swing this election. We are flooded with scandals and the media isn't touching most of them. I hope this is in the local FL news at least.

I'm trying to hold my tongue on this one, but if it's true there was an over-vote that numbered in the tens of thousands in an election decided by less than 3000 votes, then I think a reasonable person would see a problem with this.

If the accuracy and integrity of election results cannot be guaranteed, then what's the point? Some folks say voter ID laws discourage minority participation, but if the integrity of the results cannot be maintained, then isn't that a discouraging factor for other blocks of voters (conservative, libertarian, etc.)?

And the UN poll watchers that the Dems brought in were only shocked by the fact that we basically have an honor system to maintain voter integrity. The irony is almost unbearable.

If my memory serves me, both Cuomo and Christie laid blame for the "freezing" and lack of heat and gasoline, on lack of power, due to the PRIVATE utilities difficulties due to the perceived cost savings of improperly maintaining and upgrading their systems over the years. After all, maintenance is just an expense that can be turned into a profit for the shareholders..

The more I read and the more I learn about this election the less doubt I have that there was a lot of fraud going on.

It wasn't Obama's ground game. It was his great ability to cheat without the Media caring to do their job honestly and without prejudice.

Long Island's on Power Authority rule.
Appointees from the Gov & Legislature leaders.

New York is FULL of "Authorities" that offer great pay, incredible benefits, and awesome opportunity... if you are given it by a political friend.

Responsive service? Compliance with the law? Any way to fire the incompetent? None of that, but a great gig for a husband or cousin.

Certainly there was fraud. Especially suppressing the Military vote. But it was the willing cooperation of the media in constant propaganda on the eeeevils of the R's that seems to have done the job.

Calling the power utility a private is pretty far from the normal sense of the word. They are regulated in where they operate, how they operate, how much they can charge, protected from competition, etc. There is little that resembles free market capitalism in utilities. Basically, you can get your power from them, or you do without.

Who is a politician going to blame? Certainly not the government. Turning away non-union help in a situation like this is beyond belief. FEMA's response was quite dismal. Basic supplies just never got staged so they could be put to use.

It's a natural disaster. Playing politics to blame "private" industry, especially one so regulated by the government is pretty lame.

That's a great post from the Phantomsoapbox. Truth. Cold, starving, truth.

Remember the screaming in the Media about the failures of Fema and the admin in power after Katrina? You wan't see that about this, but it's just as deserved, more or less.

More, because after Katrina, Fema was supposed to get smarter, and better. Hah!
( arguably, FEMA, the creation of Big Government Jimmie Carter, is flawed in it's purpose, but it's not as bad as some think. Not as good as others either... )

Less, because in the Katrina debacle, the real culprits in ruining things were the local & state governments of LA & New Orleans. The state next door, that had worse flooding, did pretty good. In the months to come, we'll get leaks about which idiots in power ruined things for East Coasters.

We have a partial list.

Governor of NY, and Presidential Hopeful, Son of a Gov and darling of the Press, Cuomo, didn't cut any red tape... for as long as he could without being lynched. Then took credit for his wisdom and foresight. Got it too, They Love Him.

The various Power and Water Authorities in NY. Great to be unbeholden to anyone but your political masters, isn't it. Hey, there was a storm. Stuff broke. Fix it, It's your job.

The Unions of New Jersey. Thanks for turning away people from free states that wanted to help, but wouldn't pay you to do so. When the next "right to work" law gets up for a vote, hope people who lived remember you.

The President, who ran in for a photo op while body recovery and looting protection were still major needs, and sucking up all the police so you could look cool. Even GWB knew better. ( they may have had to tell him, but HE listened )

The President, for giving a great speech on how he was going to cut all the red tape.... then went fund raising...

New York's myriad of low level idiots in Government, that prevented Walmart, Anheiser Busch, and Nestle's from giving away water, because they "didn't have a license to sell water" and the bottles didn't have deposit stickers on them... and the companies didn't pay the deposit on the emergency water bottles up front, as required by Green Law... ( far more important than Peoples lives, you know. )

The list of actually guilty a--holes will expand, and a few of them will be mentioned in Blogs, or maybe on faux news, ( is that the right spelling? That's how MSNBC spells it ) but certainly, never, ever, on MSNBC, or CNN.

From RightScoop last night:

quote:

Allen West explained tonight that it was the first three days of early ballots that were recounted on election night that magically swung the election by around 4,000 votes in favor of his opponent and those were the ballots they were most concerned about. However, as we already know, the canvassing board didn’t recount all early ballots yesterday as they had promised nor did they recount the three days of early ballots West’s campaign were concerned about. But despite the cherry-picked 42-43% of early votes they did recount, West still gained 535 vote which means there’s probably a lot more votes he would gain if they did a full recount of all early ballots.

From RightScoop yesterday afternoon:

quote:

Yesterday’s recount of partial early voting ballots has left the Allen West campaign calling the recount a ‘sham’. They say the canvassing board didn’t recount the three days of ballots they had requested, instead choosing another three days of early ballots. While it added to West’s vote count and narrowed the gap, it wasn’t enough to trigger an automatic recount. West’s campaign is vowing further legal action.

quote:

"Today is Veteran’s Day and I am spending the day at several events with those few who have always answered our Nation’s call. They are the guardians of our liberties and freedoms.

"However, on this day I am deeply troubled by the voting procedure issues emanating from St Lucie County. It is unconscionable to me to witness what is transpiring before our eyes.

This is not about who gets a congressional seat, because it belongs to the people. This is about preserving the integrity of the voting process and the fundamental right to free and honest elections, because it is for that which I, and all veterans, have risked our lives." -- Allen West

From RightScoop yesterday morning:

quote:

Allen West’s campaign told Fox News this morning that there appears to be a willful attempt to steal the election. Apparently all early voting ballots were supposed to be recounted this weekend but according to Eric Shawn, the St. Lucie canvassing board only counted less than half. This is significant because West is only down by 1907 votes which is a .058% gap. An automatic recount is triggered at .05%. West’s campaign also cited the 140% turnout as troubling because it doesn’t match the number of people that showed up, saying that something is being hidden.

Allen West himself told Eric Shawn this morning that he doesn’t want to see America become like Zimbabwe where people don’t trust their electoral process and he implored Ms. Gertrude Walker, the Supervisor of Elections in St. Lucie County to have a complete recount of all votes in the public eye.

Yep, more "copy and paste on a bike site":

quote:

GOP Leaders Back West’s Call For Recount
By Sean Lengell and Stephen Dinan - The Washington Times, Thursday, November 15, 2012

The Republican Party of Florida is backing Rep. Allen West’s call for a recount of all early votes in St. Lucie County, saying it would be “unconscionable” not to answer lingering questions about the results — which show Mr. West trailing Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy.

“The supervisor of elections owes it to the people that elected her to count all of their votes that were cast early in the 2012 election cycle,” party Chairman Lenny Curry said in a statement Thursday. “She has already admitted there was a problem with the counting process and announced she would count all the votes. It makes no sense to arbitrarily cut off the counting process before it was finished.”

St. Lucie Will Recount Early Votes In Murphy-West Race Saturday Morning At 9 a.m.
The Palm Beach Post, Updated: 10:46 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012

A divided St. Lucie County canvassing board decided Friday night to recount all 37,379 ballots from early voting in the tight congressional race between Republican U.S. Rep. Allen West and Democrat Patrick Murphy.

The 2-1 decision is at least a temporary victory for West, who trails Murphy by less than 2,000 votes or about 0.6 percent in unofficial returns from congressional District 18, which includes St. Lucie, Martin and northern Palm Beach counties.

West has not conceded and has sought a recount of early votes after the St. Lucie County elections office admitted double-counting some votes and ignoring others on election night.

...Under Florida law, a “recount” occurs when a race is within 0.5 percent or closer [the vote differential between the two candidates is presently 0.58% - FB]. A “retabulation” is a recounting of ballots when the canvassing board determines there are errors in the initial tallying of ballots.

West hopes the retabulation will shave enough votes off Murphy’s lead to justify a full recount, which would involve Martin and Palm Beach counties as well.
