A guy I work with has one not sure if it is the DIY or another brand. Has a nice little setup the he build himself for wood engraving. We are working on one for metal engraving now.

My best buddy moved here from WA to work his dad's custom gun shop, they had a falling out, but he's still doing all kinds of CNC stuff. I helped at the shop for a while prior to the falling out, but...

I'll see if he's aware of this DIY set-up.

Very cool. You don't appreciate how cool CNC is until you try and make a few things on typical manual shop machine tools like a mill and lathe. Try to cut a radius on a part using a conventional mill: about the only way to do it is make a one-off jig. CNC allows you to move the cutting head along all three axes simultaneously and smoothly which lets you make some REALLY cool parts.
