Well, don't take my critique of Gov. Romney as a compliment to the Prez. However, I was disappointed in Romney's performance tonight. He appeared much less confident in what he was saying, and seemed to be rushing to get in a quantity of talking points rather than focusing on what that quality of rebuttal could be. Also, he did not effectively deal with the Prez's ad hominem attacks. At one point I was sure I heard Barack say "Mitt, you ignorant slut"! Worse for Mitt, he almost seemed to go along with many of the steps the Obama Administration have enacted adding only that he would do it better.
Now the above doesn't mean that I'm more likely to cast my vote for the Democratic ticket at all. It does mean that I don't think Romney has proven himself before the majority of the American public, yet! I sure hope something good comes out of his campaign in the next two weeks. Yes, there has been a media bias in the debates and follow-on analysis. But that was a given, no need to make excuses for his less than stellar performance tonight.
rotfl... chris mathews is a duche. Watching msnbc is like watching the fans of a football team observe their team get slowley torn apart... yard by yard.
Listen to Romney give a raspberry to the press beginning at the 5:00 mark. At 5:09 he turns around to Chrissy Matthews as if to say, "How'd ya like THAT one, Tingles?"
"Now I'd never suggest that the press is biased. I recognize they have their job to do, and I have my job to do. My job is to lay out a positive vision for the future of the country, and their job is to make sure no one else finds out about it."
“I think they hate Obama. They want him out of the White House more than they want to destroy Al Qaeda. Their No. 1 enemy in the world right now, on the right, is their hatred, hatred for Obama. And we can go into that about the white working class in the South and looking at these numbers we're getting the last couple days about racial hatred in many cases … this isn't about being a better president, they want to get rid of this president,’ he said.”
I can only speak for myself, but my desire to get rid of this president has nothing to do with the color of his skin. It's sad to see that they are still trying to play the race card. Actually, it's more despicable.
Gallup: Romney Winning Popular Vote; All Eyes Turn To Midwest John Nolte, Oct 23, 2012
Day by day by day, Gallup is proving itself to not be the outlier Democrats have counted on. With today's 51-46% lead for Mitt Romney, we have entered day eight of Gallup showing Romney over 50 and Obama stuck in the mid-forties. What we're seeing is no one-day fluke, either. This is a real, sustained lead. Rasmussen confirmed this with its three-day tracking poll today, 50-46% for Romney. There's no question the popular vote is pretty much in the bag. But that doesn't mean Romney wins the presidency. He still has to win the electoral college.
This is MUCH more important than it might seem on first blush:

Fox News Blows Away Competition in Debate Ratings Ben Shapiro, Oct 23, 2012
Fox News has been setting records all election season long in terms of ratings. Last night was the channel’s biggest night ever, with 11.5 million tuning in for the third presidential debate. They blew away CNN and MSNBC, which combined for just 9.9 million viewers (CNN had 5.8 million, and MSNBC had 4.06 million).
Yeah well I think Romney has not handled himself well or known how to handle himself in the last 2 debates. He comes across as desperate and then apologetic from time to time which is unattractive to Americans, myself included. Neither of these guys has gone into specifics. But Obama's naivety with the foreign policy, his amateurish approach to many things and his lack of contact with what America is supposed to be leaves me voting for the Romulan. But don't be surprised if his ship does not land in November.
He's a little bit country, I'm a little bit rock and roll. Donny and Marie will be voting I can tell you.
Jon, thanks for your thoughts. It's refreshing to hear some constructive criticism of Romney for a change.
Yeah well I think Romney has not handled himself well or known how to handle himself in the last 2 debates. My opinion differs. I think he has comported himself as a leader, and as a man of great character, in the face of not only an opponent who seemingly has very little in the way of scruples, AND against a hostile moderator corps (Crowley, in particular).
Nervous? Yeah, I'm sure of that. You and I would be, too.
But of the two men, who has CONSISTENTLY acted more like a leader? Who has had a better command of the facts? Who has seemed more presidential?
He comes across as desperate and then apologetic from time to time which is unattractive to Americans, myself included. We must be watching different debates.
Neither of these guys has gone into specifics. 0bama has no specifics to go into. That's one of his many problems, actually.
Romney? He HAS gone into some specifics, but I *think* part of his strategy is try to keep the amount of "hard data" that the 0-team and their minions in the press could attack in the next two weeks to an absolute minimum. Not sure if that makes sense; I'll elaborate if need be, but for now I'm trying to keep this relatively brief.
Romney has a PROVEN record of success as a businessman and politician. As such, I think it's a lot easier to trust him when he says "I can fix it!" than the when you hear the preezy make the same promise.
But Obama's naivety with the foreign policy, his amateurish approach to many things and his lack of contact with what America is supposed to be leaves me voting for the Romulan. Does his utter contempt for the Constitution and Bill of Rights (and, hence, you and I) bother you, too?
But don't be surprised if his ship does not land in November. I predict a Romney/Ryan landslide, thank you very much.
He's a little bit country, I'm a little bit rock and roll. Sorry, I have no idea what this means.
Donny and Marie will be voting I can tell you. Thanks; that's good to know.
....or any other conservative, patriotic black man for president in a heartbeat.
What about Condi Rice? Sexist!
West? Sure, Cain? Yep. Pity he was so viciously savaged by the Chicago crew. Davis? Not familiar with him, but since I'm on record that I'd vote for anything vaguely mammalian....
Country vs. Rock and roll...
When Obama was first elected, I disagreed with him, thought his ideology too scary, ( which I understand better today, maybe. Still not sure if he really loves Mao or just uses the marxists.... ) but thought he'd be an interesting guy to have a conversation & share a scotch with. Today? He's a very angry dude, and has repeatedly says he doesn't like my kind, even though we've never met. ( And I'm NOT bitter you jerk! )
Romney? At this point I think he's be an interesting guy to have a conversation with and share a Lemonade. ( I'd prefer Coke or Dew, but I can respect other's beliefs if they don't push them on me ) My biggest complaint is he went to Haarvard. I'm thinking America has had enough Harvard Presidents to last us a century. ( few of them worth spit ) http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/331042/atta ck-ivy-league-holes-fred-schwarz
What about Condi Rice? Sexist! I knew someone would call me out on that.
I'm not a huge Rice fan. This *should* go without saying, but just in case for anyone not paying attention: It has nothing to do with her skin color or her gender.
A rising conservative star who I predict will go far in this country is Mia Love, who just happens to be female and black. She's not in the same league as Rice in terms of experience, yet, but let's revisit this in 20 years or so. I could easily vote for a black woman for president, IF she was conservative and patriotic.
West? Sure, Cain? Yep. Pity he was so viciously savaged by the Chicago crew. Yeah, Cain was a real threat to the dems. They HAD to make him go away, in a hurry.
They're *trying* to do the same to West down in Florida. I hope there's a SecDef job with his name on it in the new admin, and I hope I live long enough to vote for him for Pres.
Davis? Not familiar with him... Artur Davis seconded 0bama's nomination at the DNC in 2008. He's since [EDIT: seen the error of his ways, - that was very poorly worded and awfully condescending; my apologies to Mr. Davis. I was in a hurry, but that's no excuse...] denounced both 0bama and the democratic party, and is now an outspoken Republican. I like him a lot. I think you will, too:
What kind of folks are the Romneys? The same as they've ALWAYS been. I don't normally cut and paste entire articles. I'm going to make an exception here.
This is heartwarming. This is the right stuff.

Ann Romney Makes Surprise Birthday Call to 79-Year-Old Pennsylvania Woman with Terminal Illness Breitbart News, Oct 23, 2012
Breitbart News received the following from reader Eric Mercer of Malvern, PA.
quote:
This just happened this weekend. Though the Romney campaign has not asked me to do anything, I am telling everyone I know about this because I get so angry about the things that have been said about the Romneys.
On, October 20, 2012, the night of my mother’s 79th birthday, Ann Romney called, wished her a happy birthday, and thanked my mother for her support of Mitt. They chatted for a little while, as Mrs. Romney was concerned about my mother’s failing health. When their conversation was over my mother was visible moved by this act of kindness and how special she felt on her birthday.
My 79 year old mother (above, far left) [follow link for photo - FB] is sadly in her last days, as she is losing her fight with a terminal liver disease. For the last month, she has been concerned that she would not get her absentee ballot in time to vote for what would undoubtedly be her last time. She believes this election to be very important to the future of her children and grandchildren, and wanted to be sure to do her part to change the direction of the country she loves.
Day after day she would ask about the ballot, until finally it came and she was able to vote--one last time. As I put her ballot in the mail box, I was struck by the importance she placed on electing Mitt Romney, and how I hoped that she would live long enough to see him as our next president. I thought that it would be encouraging for him to know this, so I sent an e-mail to his campaign:
quote:
My mother is 78 and sadly in her last days. She was so excited last week to get her absentee ballot, so that with her last vote on this earth she could vote for you. She is not voting for herself, but for her children and grandchildren believing that you can bring our country back from the brink. It is my hope that she will live long enough to see you win. So when you are tired of the campaign these next few weeks, please remember my mother is rooting you on and be encouraged.
Sincerely, Eric Mercer (Pennsylvania)
On Friday October 19th, I talked with a very nice woman that works on Gov. Romney’s campaign, and talked to her about my mother and her story. I was completely surprised and stunned when she suggested that either Gov. Romney or his wife would like to call her and thank her for her support I then mentioned that Saturday was my mother’s 79th birthday, and she became committed to making the call happen. I thanked her many times in disbelief that with 17 days before an election that he or his wife Ann would take the time to talk to my mother (especially since she already voted). When I expressed my thankfulness and disbelief, she said “he does these kinds of things all the time, he and Ann take time for people.” This is certainly not the Mitt Romney that is portrayed on the nightly news or on day time talk shows--a family that is caring enough to take the time to make my mother’s birthday be one of the most remarkable.
I sit here tonight writing this absolutely disgusted at the way in which the Romneys have been portrayed (rich and out of touch) by those who just want to stay in power. The Romney campaign has not asked me or my family to do anything to assist them other than to vote. But, my sister and I have decided that the voters need to who the Romneys are, and their genuine care and connection with ordinary people.
