Looked like he was chucked from a catapult. Was he rear-ended while braking? | ||

He was going way too fast for the corner and on the wrong side of the track. He should have been on the right side near the same line as the others. Once he realized he was going to potentially take out the other rider he tried to stop. The rear lifted because he panic stopped vs. being smooth. Once the rear came up a little bit he freaked and grabbed a whole handful more brake. | ||

I don't think that's quite how it went Sknt... He had been on the brakes for a while before he came into view. He used enough brake to lift the rear and I don't think he panicked because the rear came up... I think he realized that he needed to sacrifice himself and his ride so he didn't hit the other rider. | ||

Saw a guy do the same thing on a track here a few years ago on an XB12R race prepped with twin ztl. One or two fingers was quite enough but somebody cut him up & he grabbed a handful, it was like a slingshot. Fortunately it was right by a gravel trap so no major damage to bike or rider. | ||

It wasn't me with the camera. I think this was in the Novice group. M1 you are probably correct. I used the wrong wording. I was trying to convey he had other avoidance options other than the catapult manuever. His line shows his lack of experience. I'm sure he has one of those t-shirts that says "Full throttle until you see God then brake." If not he needs one now. I'm on a south Florida track day forum and he is beat up and bruised but will be ok. Thank you gear. | ||

I guess so but it wouldn't be the route I would take. How about stab the rear and low side it. | ||

Watch the longer version. The bike with the camera does not like to accelerate through the corners and uses shear horsepower to make-up time on the straights. At the entrance to almost every corner you can see other bikes late braking to get past this guy and leaving him in the dust as they all power through the corners. Maybe endo-guy was just a little fed-up? | ||

That was one of my buddies ,Tony Montinegro. Advanced rider that has raced pro for many years. 883 series Ducati,sv's,and many sponsored rides since the 70's. Does look like he's in the wrong spot for that corner though. Not sure what happened , but Tony hasn't crashed for over 10 years and he's out there twice a month. CCS racer and doesn't miss a track day . His arm is visably out of socket and hanging about 3 inchs low. Been trying to get him to go to the hospital for 4 days now. I think he's finally going tomorrow. | ||

Hope he recovers OK! That was a gnarly crash, and shoulder / collarbone injuries are a PITA. |
