so... after unsuccessfully trying to sell my cr for awhile, i ended up trading it on something else i didnt really need...

1970 GMC c15 shortbox fleetside

very solid body with a nice patina, as in good even rust layer... lol. which will stay.

all the metal for the body mounts are very solid except for the radiator support under the battery(and that part of the fender-well) the box floor is in great shape and even the box rails are solid and straight. intend to give it all new body bushings... just trying to decide if i want to add on the bolt on couple inch body drop kit i found while doing that. also, obviously has some new rims and tires on it. 20/8.5 up front and 22/10 in the back wrapped in new nitto's.

has a 4/6 drop with coils and shocks up front and an axle flip kit in the back. still needs about 2" drop spindles and probably a c-notch on the frame over the axle. or maybe a tube chassis with coil over suspension and independent rear....(big dreams) :-)

any fabric in the interior is toast(except visors), but all the metal is solid and unmolested. including the dash still having the radio delete option right where it was from the factory. i can get a whole black interior for it for a decent price, but i juat cant make myself think it will look as good as if i get the correct green stuff back in it... which appears to be an odd shade aquaish color im having trouble finding all the parts for.

also has a fairly fresh small block. but nothing special at all. cruises nice down the highway, but no real guts behind it :-( wish i would have jumped on that duramax drivetrain i spotted a couple months back. a turbo diesel would be sweet, except for the wiring nightmare...

its manual steer, manual brakes at the moment, but i think i have a power steering setup that will make its way on there. and power brake booster and master cylinder when i get a little cash. its already been upgraded to factory style spindles and decent discs up front instead of the drums.

but then again, i may just do some interior and add the power options then send it down the road... time and pocket book will tell i guess.

When you upgrade the brakes and steering, go with a hydroboost system. clean and simple and wayyyyy more braking power than a vacuum booster.

Nice truck! I have an old '49 myself that is just waiting for some more attention. I go to this site for info and ideas. Pretty good people overall.

You need an 8-track player, and some good tapes.

That's all.

67-72chevytrucks.com

yep just signed up there the other day.

thanks guys. i like it!

i really want to get this thing to handle as good as i can reasonably. then go after more power. id love a big block(only had one and that was a 3/4 460 ford) but... i think i will end up with a higher reving small block set back in the chassis a few inches if i can pull it off. even if i have to recess it into the firewall a bit. like i said i want it to handle, so move the motor back a little and put a fuel cell and battery back near the tail.

unless i stumble across that newer 2wd wrecked duramax(or even just the drivetrain, then all bets are off.

If you're going to go bigblock, I may suggest going all out with a caddy 500.
I read that they actually weigh less than a standard big block due to thinner castings.
They fit a standard olds/pontiac/buick bellhousing too.

I'm kinda thinking more along a BT4 diesel too though.

Where you from No-rice? There was a heck of a deal on a 2wd LLY duramax on craigslist the other day....4500 for the whole truck, low miles but light hit in the front.
