Folks, it's time for me to just leave. I no longer have a Buell, I only have an old GL1000, but it's getting me around OK.
Most of the time I hit the BW, I head to the QB, looking for jokes, the dog thread, and whatever...
When I've congregated in good company with fellow Buell riders, I've had some of the best times of my life. As I ride the roads ahead of me, I relish the chance to see all of you again.
I've tolerated over the years the fact that Badweatherbikers is easily over 90% "Nobama", anti-liberal, anti-Democratic, Teabaggin'it, anti-govmint, and so on...
AD NAUSEAUM.
When I start a thread here, about what to do about a new fence, and I'm advised to put up "NOBAMA" signs...
I thought this was a site for motorcycle lovers, especially Buell aficionados, but alas, I am wrong.
Buell MC's, as we all know it, is gone as of 10/09.
This website has progressively (PUN INTENDED) gotten infected by Republitard Dittoheads. Yes, I said it, IN YOUR FACE.
Stick a fork in my ass, I'm DONE.
Happy trails to you all, keep the rubber side down.
I just returned a few hours ago from an eleven hour, 416 mile ride, where 16 Buellers carved up some of the finest Southern California mountains including Big Bear and Idlywild. My Uly continues to be one of the greatest joys of my life. Have fun on your GL1000 wherever that leads you.
A couple of political threads on QB are no big deal unless you wish to make it so.
A couple of political threads on QB are no big deal unless you wish to make it so.
I don't really think that's the point Tom, I stay away (mostly) from the political stuff because it hasn't much bearing on my life & it annoys me too. What REALLY pisses me off is the blatant politicising of threads that have absolutely no relevance to politics.
Some people are interested in it, well that's fine & good for them, let them stick to the political stuff, but like Brad I'm getting bloody tired of having it stuffed down my throat at every conceivable opportunity.
Some restraint needs to be shown or pretty soon this place will just become a republican boot licking site.
Of all the friends I've made & people I've physically met through Badweb, i can count the number who still post on here on the fingers of one hand. Most of them still own Buells they've just had enough & can't be bothered any more.
I enjoy discussion & politics has it's place, but come on now, a thread about garden fencing?
Squids: please reconsider. Your posts are some of the most amusing and interesting on here. I own a Buell & I come to BW mainly for ideas & advice. I often read the QB political posts but I really don't take any notice of them. RE: you fence post (do you see what I did there) I thought the "Nobama" idea was meant in jest.YMMV. Chris C
And this is a perfect example as to why every other forum I go to has a SEPARATE politics forum. I to have seen what Grumpy refers to. It didn't use to be like this on this section. It truly has gotten bad on here with the political posts infesting just about every post on here. There were calls for a separate section for it, but they went ignored. Now I would just say change the name of Quick Board to Politics Board as honestly, that's what it has become. I hesitate to call this much of a motorcycle forum anymore.
Cataract2, to be fair, this is the section for off topic stuff. I don't want to go so far as to say that MC discussion doesn't belong here, but how many off topic sections should we have?
Squids, I hope you might reconsider. Not owning a Buell any more, perhaps the attraction is waning. Sorry for my part on the fence thread, but it was meant in jest on a thread that didn't seem to be going very far on it's own.
I see far more offensive things going on around here. Perhaps it's just what pushes your buttons. Maybe ALL off topic threads should be banned. Nothing but Buell 24/7. I'm not sure that will make for a better forum though.
I'd rather Beiber fans. Be safe out there squids! To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't quite a few more of us right behind ya. Hit me up on FB, I'd hate to miss out on any good food or riding discussions!
The down slide of Buell for me was when the Rooster got killed - it was a kick in the nutz The crushed Blast was another cut The Shuttering of E Troy The Dumpster full of Uly's The Loss of Ginger
I miss the way things were, the way things were headed; but I am hoping for big announcements from overseas. (Come on Hero!) Of all the bikes I ever had - the CityX was my favorite
Via con Huevos - It should 'change' after the election - no matter the brand of new miserable coming out of the Capital is.
Brad this kind of attempt at a humorous political injection in a nonpolitical thread is simply a matter of a reflection of the times we are in. It was probably done as a light quip from a passing thought, not so much with malice.
The political front is in everyone's face every day from the intreweb and TV to newspapers to talk on the street. Kind of like when one person pukes it starts a wave of everyone letting loose. It matters not if you like puke.....it gets spewed about in public places. We just lost another 200+ job company in our fair city as of the first of the year.....that gets blamed on the current administration and put in our faces, even as they tout better unemployment numbers.
I am amazed at how this Buell community has held together without it's king pin. One of the things that I thought would happen when Buell was closed out was that BadWeB would falter in a short time, but these machines that we have all been riding, weather we still have them or not, created a real passion filled community.
Most of us are in great hopes that Erik and Company produces a new machine that we can get behind, to believe in, and to ride into the sunset with in comfort and pride. That would be a major spark in getting the voices around here back into communicating about what we came here in the first place for.
Time will cure this problem as it does so many other things.
Erik Buell for President in 2012. Write in as a "Real Motorcyclist Party" vote. We don't want to confuse him with 'fair weather' riders.
I feel if the great devider ever disapears and the working people can get a job this pokitical stuff will disapear--at the present the great devider is just as he wants ALL of us still just want to ride and enjoy life but when you feel threation at every turn our neerves get kinda raw. I am just trying to analize this/ I think it will be great when we all can just enjoy our BIKES
but like Brad I'm getting bloody tired of having it stuffed down my throat at every conceivable opportunity.
You mean the post that started this thread? I don't mind thoughtful political threads, but when somebody calls a group calling for limited government with a disparaging sexual term, or makes fun of learning disadvantaged people in a juvenile attempt to make fun of people of different political beliefs, it can get really tedious. I just move on.
Be thankful you are a liberal / progressive. Can you imagine how you would feel if 70% of the people writing the news and making movies didn't agree with you, and you had no vehicle there to speak truth to power? That must be really frustrating, I bet it would make the people that have to deal with it eager to share their views in whatever limited public venues they can find.
Fall colors...can't ride your favorite bike of all time...etc etc. When I read the linked post above, I really understood how you felt. Did the same back in 1982 with my Kawasaki Z1. I'm here now because of guys like you.
I hope, someday, to read again your last two words in your last post in that thread above...I'm back. Happy trails friend
Yes, we should cheer up At least any views that do not agree with the General state party line do not land us in a Gulag, our meager assets ceased, our family displaced, and our family name persona non grata while we wait to see if the rest of our family is exiled, disappeared, executed, or starved out.
Yes Komrade - there is a glorious alternative ..... of course all media was state controlled and approved - lest it be offensive.
Don't forget the special quotas too ! Every Thursday a new letter of the alphabet will be chosen and the lucky recipients will be 're-educated'.
Of course it was in jest!! I even posted a beer.. I have no idea what your political affiliations are and was NOT intended to be directed at you personally,... of course I wasn't serious but Sifo's suggestion made me thing about it more seriously. Maybe make it look like an Obama sign,..but make it so the N shows up on certain angles. I think that would be SLICK! (From any political affiliation) Again, Squids.. I completely posted that in jest an did not mean any disrespect to you in any way shape or form. I like your 99% of your posts.
hey man, sometimes people don't type "exactly" what they mean 100% of the time... I think it is a skill that takes time to develop. it was just meant to be funny, I see other folks here make funnies... I was giving it a shot (if you aint tryin yer dyin)
Reepicheep is correct that this very thread is a political statement (or a PUI judging by the timestamp). Either is okay.
You either stay or you go. I hope you stay but you will be missing some really fine people. If you can, you should get back in the saddle of a Buell as that might be what the doctor ordered.
You know, if I had a community of people with whom I shared an affinity for an activity and considered them "friends", I don't think I would allow the side bar conversation of a few people with whom I disagreed to cause me to terminate these friendships.
It would seem that those who post these "it's too political, I'm leaving" threads have placed their politics ahead of friendships. Wouldn't that seem to indicate that it is YOU who are being "over-political"?
It's a shame you can't separate your political beliefs from your friendships. I really enjoyed riding with you, Brad.
When I start a thread here, about what to do about a new fence, and I'm advised to put up "NOBAMA" signs...
I thought this was a site for motorcycle lovers, especially Buell aficionados, but alas, I am wrong.
Contradiction in two sentences flat. Did you mistake Badweb for a "new fence" site or a "motorcycle" site. Three words come to mind: PUI. Not that there is anything wrong with it I have accidently....ahem....been guilty of that.
Have fun at the "new fence" site....or hang out here.
