Jim Lehrer did lose control of the debate last night. I think given the format it worked out well though. The back and forth rebuttals that were allowed to go on beyond the strict time limits let both candidates build on their ideas and contrast them to the opposition. Romney was able to effectively challenge BO's points and explain some of the details of his ideas. BO seemed caught off guard and unprepared to flesh out his ideas beyond some basic phrases that he was obviously prepared with. Because of the back and forth it became obvious who had the depth of understanding of the ideas and who was and empty suit wishing he had his teleprompter to tell him what to say. The contrast was astounding.
I hope the rest of the debates are also as revealing of the candidates. The VP debate, if allowed to have similar back and forth dialog will be even worse. Biden given this sort of free reign of though will be worth of preserving on DVD.
It may not change the opinion of core voters but may finally sway those who, like my neighbor, said they will vote for Obama "because he wants to help poor people". Those people will either now vote for Romney or just stay home unable to cast a vote for either candidate. Both scenarios bode well for Romney.
Last night was an obvious win for Romney, now MSM is trying to turn it around. Ugh.
The MSM is an enemy of the state. It's not surprising that 0's spin doctors are working overtime on this one.

Fact Check: Top 5 Liberal Excuses for Obama Losing the First Presidential Debate to Romney
Joel B. Pollak, Oct 4, 2012
Gov. Mitt Romney defeated President Barack Obama soundly in the first presidential debate in Denver, and even Obama’s supporters knew it. The media quickly went to work spinning excuses for their candidate, claiming that "the deck was stacked against Obama" from the start, and that Romney had not fought a fair fight.
Here are the five biggest--and worst--excuses for Obama's defeat:
Repeal ObamaCare - because it is unaffordable insurance.... there is nothing in the bill that cleans up the cost overruns of care, all it does is expand the already broken wheel of Medicaid. It does give the IRS a large and overreaching authority into your pockets, accounts, assets, businesses, property and any future ideas of transfer under inheritance. IF Medical care is BANKRUPTING households en large....what leap of logic are you making that adding the cost of MILLIONS of entitlements to the federal deficit doesn't in turn BANKRUPT the nation. (hint - it doesn't; and they know it - they want the currency to fail; and the PPACA ensures it.)
I saw this a couple days ago. It clearly showed that BO was not prepared for what he was getting into. This seems to be the underlying story of BO throughout his entire life. He has never been adequately prepared for anything of substance in his life.
I have long been familiar with the concept of people being promoted to their level of incompetence. Usually people's careers will simply stagnate at that point. Somehow BO has found himself promoted way beyond his level of incompetence, and he has no clue what to do from here. When you are in that deep over your head, you just don't have any hope of growing into the position. Last night he showed that he has not grown into his position of President.
Huh. The cabin of air force one, along with most other commercial jets, is pressurized to 5000 feet. He had several flight hours to get acclimated. If you can't think at 5000 feet, perhaps you shouldn't be the one in an airborne command post with your finger (figuratively) on the button.
Or it could be that Al Gore is simply a moron. Yeah, that's probably a lot closer to the truth.

This photo from the Associated Press illustrates how the first presidential debate went. President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama appear a bit overwhelmed as they look for an exit off the stage.
Mitt Romney, however, smiles as he collects his notes from the podium.
I came home from work to find this in my bathroom.
Charmin???

BTW, I hope no one took my comments to mean that we shouldn't find humor in all of this. It's a great coping mechanism. I just find myself from time to time finding more difficult to find the humor in this administration. It has literally become a life and death situation for too many people. The lesser issues such as our national debt with be with us for generations to come, and with the recent credit down grades, we will wind up paying even more in interest on that debt. I just can't see any sort of morality in forcing future generations to pay for our reckless spending. It's no better than King George taxing the colonies without any representation.
