I can't watch. I can't stand listening to 0bama - it's like ten long fingernails down an endless blackboard.

I've been reading real-time comments on LegalInsurrection.com and RightScoop.com.

Granted, these are both conservative sites, but if the commenters are correct 0bama has had both his arms ripped off and been beaten bloody about the head with them, Romney has sounded, well, presidential and Reaganesque, and mod Lefterhrer has been doing everything he can to help the Preezy not look, and sound, like such an amateur, yet both he and the Suit With No 0ne In It are both failing miserably.

If all this is true:

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad some of you found humor in this. I found it more depressing. BO was totally unprepared, and it could be seen quickly in the first segment when he became very repetitive, using the same phrases over and over. He was unable to articulate actual thoughts. He was simply parroting what his handlers had taught him to say.

This is our President folks. I don't see humor in it anymore. I wish I could. The fact is though, there is a large portion of our population that would vote for this idiot again.

This is a decision time for our country. BO has run up a deficit that will last for generations. This deficit has paid, only for temporary gains, or all too often, been thrown away with no gain what so ever. It's not like we have gotten a national highway system, or even national parks and monuments from this spending.

I trust the people will be able to make the right choice in November. If not we are really in for generations of pain.

Good night folks. I'm sure tomorrows headlines will be telling me how inspired BO's comments were.

Chuck Todd Declares Romney the Winner. CHUCK TODD! -- Tony Lee

NBC's Chuck Todd concedes Romney came across as someone who knew his stuff and the president's proposals and refudiates Obama advisers who claimed Romney did not have enough specifics.

Todd said Romney looked like a "credible alternative" and it was a "big night" for him.

He said Obama advisers will have to go back to the drawing board.

I watched 90% of the debate and if I put myself back to when I was a young immigrant to the US, I would be asking you Americans as to why is Romney the challenger and not the incumbent President.

If Obama is reelected, it will be because of willful self delusions of +50% of the American electorate and not because of obvious incompetency that would convince any intellectually honest person.

Roderick,
Historically, America has tended to be a Right of Center country, which is the sweet spot for who we are. We are forgiving. We are giving. We strive to correct past injustices. We sometimes forget our roots but we tend to return to individualism, personal responsibility, revere hard work, reward success, accept that taking risk sometimes fails, and we truly want to help the indigent, both domestically and in foreign. I am so glad that you are an American citizen and can share in the greatness and potential of who we are as a People.

Success can not be legislated. It must be earned via hard work. Despite what Obama says.

How can MSNBC even claim that they are a "news network" with a straight face?

The other completely biased networks at least have the good sense to put a thin veneer of false journalistic integrity on their coverage.

MSNBC doesn't even try.

...why is Romney the challenger and not the incumbent President.

It's been covered at length on this thread: Corruption, entitlement, and the media (i.e., corruption).

0bama was forced to be himself last night, in real time.

His performance, or lack thereof, last night did not cost him a single "entitlement" vote - the folks in our country who demand free pie will STILL demand more free pie today.

His performance, or lack thereof, last night didn't sway the mind of any true conservatives - our minds have been made up since about 30 days into 0bama's miserably failed presidency.

What happened last night, even more important than Romney taking 0bama to school on how to act, sound and BE presidential, is the MEDIA - in particular, the mainstream media - has now been forced to admit that the emperor wears no clothes.

For the "undecideds," folks who can't or won't follow politics, folks who gets their "news" from the Morning Joe (spit), or MSNBC (spit), or ABC or CBS or CNN or their local leftwing rag (spit, spit, spit, repeat), THESE folks will see/read/hear today's news, from sources they trust, and have an epiphany. "Hey honey, it says here in the paper that 0bama sucks! Dayem!!"

The media is everything in this country. Well, that and corruption.

And in the case of the media, corruption is their middle name.

We "allowed" a Trojan horse into the White House because the free press failed us.

THIS time around, the free press - in the form of Fox and the internet - has fully vetted the ch0sen 0ne.

But one of the final nails in the coffin came last night, when our president - in many respects one of the most powerful people in the world - showed his true colors, sans TOTUS (Teleprompter of the United States), sans talking heads, sans friendly crowd bussed in from neighboring states, sans ANYTHING resembling the intelligence and gravitas that SHOULD be a prerequisite for being entrusted with the future of our country.

America - us folks who've been paying attention, but more importantly, the folks who HAVEN'T been paying attention - got to see the REAL president last night.

Verdict: Epic failure.

More importantly, we got to see our NEXT president in action last night.

The past four years has been a warning shot across this country's bow, a graphic reminder of how tenuous true freedom truly is, and how we must ALWAYS be on the alert to those who would take it from us.

Come November, we begin the slow, arduous process of taking our country back from tyranny. We've won another battle, but we haven't won the war.

And we never truly will: The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.

God bless US. God bless America.

Romney Wins Big in First Debate
Joel B. Pollak, Oct 3, 2012

Halfway through, they should have stopped the fight.

Gov. Mitt Romney eviscerated a staggering and bewildered President Barack Obama tonight in one of the most lopsided presidential debates in American history. Throughout the debate, which focused on domestic policy, Obama looked shaken, rarely looking at the camera, reciting old talking points and filibustering as Romney gave a master class at the University of Denver.

The debate had been described as a must-win for Romney--and he delivered. Using a rapid-fire style that had not been seen even in the numerous Republican primary debates, he bobbed and weaved through Obama’s attacks and moderator Jim Lehrer’s interjections, launching bullet-point policies that displayed not just a familiarity with the wonkish details but a focus on the travails of ordinary people he had met on the trail.

Again and again, Romney returned to his theme: creating jobs. He did--as expected--take Obama to task for misrepresenting his policies, principally Romney's tax policy, which Obama referred to, even after being corrected, as a $5 trillion tax cut. But Reomnyexceeded expectations in focusing on the end result he wished to attain--and which, he said, the president wished to sacrifice: creating jobs for a struggling American workforce.

Obama could not have pleased anyone except those playing drinking games at home, with familiar references to corporate jets (drink!), job training programs (drink!), and tax cuts for shipping jobs overseas (drink!). And for these tired suggestions, most of which appeared in Obama’s talking points in 2008, Romney reminded the president that he had four years in which to enact his policies, to which the president could only nod.

Romney came armed with some memorable one-liners. He called Obama’s economic policy “trickle-down government.” He called the decline in household incomes under the Obama administration the “economy tax.” And--most memorably--he attacked Obama’s green energy subsidies, including Solyndra, Fisker, Tesla, and other failures: “You don’t just pick the winners and losers. You pick the losers.” Obama had nothing in response.

Obama refused--as he has done throughout the campaign--to adopt the stance of the incumbent, and tried to fight as the insurgent challenger, as if his own record were not up for debate. But Romney refused to let him escape--and soon Obama began making several blunders, stating at one point that he had conversations with Americans about their health care “four years ago”--i.e. not since he has taken office. He even turned his frustration upon moderator Jim Lehrer at one point, accusing him of interrupting him.

Lehrer, for his part, was quicker to pounce on Romney with follow-up questions, giving Obama a wider berth. Yet Romney did not let Lehrer divert him from his message or cut off his defenses. He even teased the moderator with his proposal to cut funding from PBS, among other government programs. It was a fearless and clarifying performance.

On health care--which might have been Romney’s weakest issue--Romney argued for the repeal of Obamacare as the best Tea Partier might have done, attacking the board that the law sets up to ration care as a cost control mechanism. The best that Obama could do was remind voters--as if they did not already know--that Romney had passed a health insurance law in Massachusetts. He had to concede one of the best arguments Romney offered--that Obamacare has actually increased the cost of insurance so far.

Romney missed a few--very few--opportunities, taking a long time to defend his tax policy by pointing out that it would be revenue-neutral because it would encourage economic growth. And Obama did put a few points on the board, reminding viewers (twice) of his popular Race to the Top education program, and that he had amassed experience as commander-in-chief with which Romney cannot (yet) compete.

Yet Obama seemed uneasy simply to have a worthy opponent on the other side of the stage. He could not even articulate his oft-repeated philosophy of government in the most basic terms, borrowing from the likes of Barney Frank in describing government as “the things we do together.” Romney gave a straight answer: that the role of government is simply to defend the principles of the Constitution and the founding documents, without replacing the roles of individuals and communities in helping the less fortunate.

Jim Lehrer is Biggest Loser in Denver Debate
Dan Gainor, Oct 3, 2012

The only consolation President Barack Obama had for his poor showing during Wednesday’s debate was that moderator Jim Lehrer did even worse. Lehrer, executive editor of “PBS Newshour,”showed little ability to control the give-and-take and keep candidates to time. He even had to handle a direct attack on PBS funding.

Former New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller summed up the Lehrer criticism, giving him a D grade and calling him “road kill” in his Twitter analysis of the debate.

...To make matters worse, Romney used a deficit discussion to take a direct attack at PBS, scoring points with conservatives by making sport of the moderator. “I’m sorry Jim, I’m going to stop the subsidy to PBS.” While Romney admitted he liked Big Bird and “I like you, too,” it was a masterful jab.

The questions were fluffy.

Obama answered with more of the same
vacuuous generalities....
same empty redoric(sp) SSDD

Romney drove home his points with a sledge
and I think most folks got the gist of it.

Ferris you were concerned about the Lefties trying to hand the debate to BHO-le.
glad it did not happen, Mitt owned them all.

perhaps Mitt when elected will quietly deal with Obama and his cronies.

I suspect that he like most successful business types will deal with the important stuff first, like putting this country back on track,
I also predict that he will meet with firm resistance as he cuts things like PBS funding, and other less popular actions.

He's got a BIG MESS to deal with in the end getting the house in order is far more important than dealing with the things that have been done and wont help the current situation.

But FWIW, yeah I want to see barry drug from the WH in chains for treason, and all of his looter palls get what they have comming. BUT I wont hold my breath....

Simply put . . . . it was the classic old-fashioned American playground ass-kicking where the mouthy bully who's always had his friends (teleprompter and Susan Rice) to back him up and do his dirty work . . finally had to face his adversary one on one . . with nothing but ACTUAL performance, ACTUAL Facts and ACTUAL intellect as the chosen weapons.

Obama . . . . even by the accounts of David Axelrod, Bill Mahr and Stephanie Cutter . . . pretty well took a royal ass kicking.

He is not fit morally or mentally to lead this great nation.

Big things are poised to happen in America and it's time we recaptured, embraced, celebrated and once again were guided by, those qualities that made us great.
