When you add in the rest of the country, I'm not so sure.

Wolfie, if we have a FAIR election, it will be a Republican landslide. Obama will get his votes, to be sure, for all the obvious reasons, but the conservative electorate is mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore. Partial proof of that is what happened in the midterm elections in 2010.

The MSM is in the tank for Obama (although this support is eroding), and EVERYTHING you read from the left, especially the poll numbers, is heavily skewed to paint a gloomy narrative for Romney.

That's one reason why it's so important to keep talking about all of this, to help try and get the truth out there.

Republican landslide in November. You heard it here first. : )

quote:

“Hello, I’m United States Representative and Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Allen West, from the great state of Florida.

“This week, the Republican-led House of Representatives continued to focus on jobs – and removing government barriers that make it harder to create jobs, such as the small business tax hike President Obama has proposed that threatens our already struggling economy. The House also took action to address a serious threat to our national security, which is what I’d like to discuss with you today.

“For all the coverage of Election Day, there’s another date looming – January the 2nd – that has serious consequences for our nation’s security. On that day – if the government does not act – automatic, across-the-board spending cuts will take effect, cuts that would reduce funding for our national defense by as much as 10 percent.

“I spent 22 years in active duty service in the United States Army and served in several combat zones. I cannot understate the amount of damage these cuts would do to our military. They would essentially hollow out our armed forces. What that means is, we would have the smallest ground force since 1940, the smallest Navy since 1915, and the smallest tactical fighter force in the history of the modern United States Air Force. Leon Panetta, the Secretary of Defense, has said, and I quote, that ‘cuts of this magnitude … would be devastating to defense … programs.’

“Now the good news is, the Republican-led House of Representatives has approved a responsible plan to replace these ‘devastating’ cuts. The bad news is, the people’s House is the ONLY part of our government that has acted to eliminate this threat to our national security. The Senate, a body controlled by the president’s party, has done nothing. And the president himself has opposed or disregarded every attempt we’ve made to work with him on a solution.

“President Obama’s failure to lead is inexcusable on its face, but what makes it even more so is the fact that this ‘sequester’ was his administration’s idea in the first place. You see, last year, the president wanted to avoid making the tough choices necessary to get our economy moving again and deal with our crushing debt. He didn’t want to deal with the issue again before his re-election campaign, so the White House created this dangerous ‘sequester’ as an escape hatch.

“Dodging his responsibility is how the ‘sequester’ came about, so it is no surprise the president is doing the exact same thing now.

“In May, he threatened to veto legislation passed by the House that would replace his ‘sequester’ with responsible spending cuts and reforms. And the president’s Senate did nothing.

“So the House came back this week and passed a bill I sponsored that requires the president to finally send Congress a legitimate plan to replace his ‘sequester.’ Because while the president may not like our ideas, he has a responsibility to put forward his own and to press the Senate allies of his party for action. At the very least, this is an opportunity to find common ground. Yet, before the House even started to debate my bill, the president threatened to veto it. One must simply ask: why?

“Look at the week we have just been through. Consider the stark, horrific reminders that freedom remains under siege by forces who relish terror and violence over freedom and free expression. Remember how critical it is that the United States projects strength, that we remain vigilant and resolute in the defense of our liberties and way of life.

“Since the purpose of this address is to respond to President Obama, allow me to say this to him directly, as an elected representative of the people, a career soldier and a concerned citizen:

“Mr. President: for you – the Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces – to sit idle and do nothing while this dark cloud hangs over our military, it is shameful, it is irresponsible, and it is wrong. It is dead wrong. In your nomination acceptance speech, you stated your goal was to have the strongest military the world has ever known. You have proven this promise to the American people is nothing more than empty rhetoric. All of this as a bargaining chip to raise taxes.

“For the sake of our country and our future, I hope you will do the right thing, sir, and work with us to eliminate this threat so we can confront the grave threats to freedom around the globe, to us and our allies.

“It is because of these threats that America must continue to fund its military and support its Armed Forces to the fullest extent. The lives of all Americans depend on it. As do the memories of Ambassador Chris Stevens and the public servants who perished with him this week in the Middle East. Please take a moment this weekend to pray for their loved ones. And for the brave warriors of our Armed Forces, the men and women, my brothers in arms that I served with.

“Steadfast and Loyal.”

PS:

I'm just part of the mooching 47% using my VA education benefits

Chris, I lost my manners earlier and forgot to thank you for your service. Denise and I are personal friends of Stingaroo and Kate, and you may remember we sent you guys several "care" packages when you were overseas.

Again: Thank you.

That said, you seem to be implying that if Romney is elected that he will flip a switch and suddenly every federal government benefit in existence will vanish.

This simply isn't true.

The path our country is currently on is fiscally unsound and provably unsustainable. Like it or not, we HAVE to do something about this.

Fixing the economy is not rocket science, and it does NOT mean eliminating every federal benefit there is (including VA benefits).

Under Obama's "leadership" this country is on the verge of moral and financial collapse. This isn't right-sided opinion, it's an undeniable fact.

Four more years of the same? We might as well kiss our dear Republic goodbye.

Romney is a Patriot. With all due respect, before you summarily write him off you should actually study-up on some of the serious issues facing our nation, and find out where he actually stands.

He's a proven leader.

Obama is not.

Best,
Ferris

A republican government is slow to move, yet once in motion it's momentum becomes irresistible
Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state. The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.
The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object.
We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

Very valid point. I assume you're pitching this as Romney hasn't been president. He hasn't. Nor did President Obama when he took office. Our country is headed, and already is, in a financial avalanche. Deficits are huge and continue to grow. Our current government leaders, under the leadership of President Obama, have added 4 trillion to our deficit and we're still dealing with a weak economy and high unemployment, which are sure to worsen with even higher debts. It's simply not sustainable.

Mr. Romney is a very successful businessman- he's rich, and smart. He earned his riches through hard work, intelligence and being successful in his business ventures. Certainly under his leadership jobs were outsourced, but certainly jobs were also created within the US. In business, tough decisions have to be made to keep a business successful and sustainable- otherwise everyone in that company would be out of work and no one would invest in any company.

Romney has the business acumen and and economic experience to get our country back on track fiscally and keep the American way of life sustainable. This is what he's promised to do, if elected, and I'm trusing him to do so.

Our country cannot afford another 4 years of spending and government meddling in economics like we've had the past 4 years under Obama's leadership- our country will be bankrupt and go the way of Greece and Spain. Obama has great visions and is a fantastic orator, but simply does not have the background, experience or knowledge to lead our country in a manner that doesn't involve spending your way out of difficult situations and more importantly, keeping our country our of fiscal collapse.

And Chris- Thanks for your service. Cessna and I don't get together as much as we'd like to anymore, but does keep me up to date on some of you guys on occasion. I hope all is well!

I'm just part of the mooching 47% using my VA education benefits

How is that mooching? You paid in, you take out, that's the deal. Like Social Security was supposed to be.

You signed a contract. If you held up your end, they should hold up theirs. Simple.

Don't expect them to hold up their end if Obama is re-elected. He, like Clinton before him, and Carter before him, has cut, will cut defense and VA funding. Jimmie and Bill had the excuse that "the war was over" and we had to collect a "peace dividend". They cut stupidly, broadly, and screwed the military, the vets and the country.

Obama is cutting defense and Veterans while the War is still on. He's either really really stupid ( doubtful )and/or insane, and/or a treasonous wretch.

In any event, despite his wife's dedication to a high profile position being SEEN to be good to Vets, I really don't think he gives a damn if you get your benefits, if you are not part of his voting blocks. Vet's aren't, so screw you. Now if you were in a Union that donated far more than mine... you'd have a shot.

That 47% figure is silly, stupid, scary and oft misrepresented. I don't think you are in that group, are you? If so.... that's the Bush tax cuts for you.

Silly, because people making little enough money to not pay Federal Income Tax pay a HIGHER PERCENTAGE of their income in taxes than a rich person. they, you, I, lack the money to change the way we are paid and invest to substantially reduce our overall tax burden. The "rich" do, and do so.

Stupid, because the lack of Federal Income Tax MAY give way to the wrong belief that the poorer of us don't pay taxes, and have no "skin in the game". They do, but they are being told they do not. That is dishonest from both sides of the aisle, deliberately manipulative by the D's and freaking stupid to harp on for the R's.

Scary, because the notion that you get something for nothing is wrong. De Tocqueville warned over a century ago that path leads to dictators. It always has, it always will.

Which candidate regards the Constitution as a "Charter of Negative Rights"? ( he's right, btw. It was intended to keep the Prez from being King. )

Oft misrepresented. Well, there is Rush. 'nuff said there. Then there is Obama's claim that he want to "save the middle class tax cuts" that his party claimed NEVER HAPPENED. If he lies about the past with such ease, ( due to ignorance, being fed a lie on a teleprompter, or just lying to get his way ) and we KNOW now he lies about the future...... Why the heck do you believe him now?

Seriously.

BO has complained that the Constitution prevents him from getting the things he wants done. He has said that he will bypass this as much as possible. I have no doubt that if allowed, he would trash can the whole thing. He is what the founders and de Tocqueville warned about.

Chris,

Respectfully, why the seeming obsession that Romney is rich and is only looking out for other rich people? You do realize that EVERY Kennedy that has held public office has been filthy rich? Same for Al Gore. Same for John Kerry. And to a lesser extent: same for President Obama. Why in your mind, is that any different? Those people could care less about you.

Please try the following thought experiment. If he was still alive and running for office, would you demonize Steve Jobs the way I hear you trash talking Romney? Steve Jobs built something from nothing. Steve Jobs outsourced more jobs to China that you can ever imagine shaking a stick at. Steve jobs cancelled projects causing unemployment when the market rejected the product. Steve Jobs paid the taxes that he was legally obligated to. Yet, I am willing to bet that you have a warm fuzzy feeling about Steve Jobs. Why is that?

Let me suggest that you have be swayed by the MSM in a very unobjective way. Romney is rich and has ZERO problem with YOU earning the same success that he enjoys. On the other hand, President ZERO does NOT want you to be rich because it would be unfair. He has said this time and time and time ... and time again.

I am not trashing you and I hope to hear what your original thinking is rather than your resorting to hurling epithets and an extremely viable Presidential candidate.

Thanks for your service.

Romney's Taxes and Note his Charitable donations, Well in excess of BO's

Romney also released his final tax return for 2011 on Friday. That document shows the Romneys paid $1.9 million in taxes on nearly $14 million in income, mostly from investments, giving them an effective tax rate of 14.1 percent.

The Romneys donated about $4 million to charity in 2011, or about 30 percent of their income, the document shows. Romney previously released his 2010 tax return but no others.

Historically, yes.

Under President Obama? I don't think even his most ardent supporters believe this to be true. In fact, perhaps it is exactly why they worship him so.
