Obama's Libya Lies Collapse: Senate Democrats Demand Answers

By John Nolte, Sep 27, 2012

The wheels appear to be coming off a two week attempt by the Obama Administration to cover up its fatal security failures at our consulate in Libya and to cover up the very fact that this was a successful pre-planned terrorist attack that cost four American lives, including that of our Libyan Ambassador, Christopher Stevens.

quote:

Senate Democrats joined Republicans Thursday in questioning the Obama administration's handling of the fatal Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya and why the administration refused for days to acknowledge that it was a terrorist attack linked to al Qaeda.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee, chaired by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., circulated a bipartisan letter addressed to Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Nides, asking for an "accounting of the attacks against U.S. missions in Egypt, Libya and Yemen," according to a copy obtained by The Washington Examiner.

The lawmakers are also demanding to know whether the administration had any advance warnings of the Libyan attack and, if so, whether it had shared that information with U.S. personnel on the ground.

The letter marks the first time congressional Democrats have so directly expressed their dissatisfaction with the administration's response to inquiries about the attacks, which resulted in the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others and raised questions about U.S. security throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa.

A Kerry aide confirmed that the committee intended to enlist the support of Republicans and Democrats and said the letter would likely be sent Friday. Another aide told The Examiner that the panel's 10 Democrats and nine Republicans plan to sign it.

The false White House narrative blaming the murders on a protest gone bad over a YouTube video never really passed the smell test. But Obama maintained that illusion straight through to his speech before the United Nations two days ago, even as reports surfaced that our government knew al-Qaeda was behind the attack within 24 hours. Apparently, this has become too much to sweep under the rug for some of the mainstream press and Democrats.

The behavior of Obama and Secretary of State Clinton over the past 14 days is a scandal of the highest order. Lies, cover ups, and neglect for security of American intelligence and personnel that borders on criminal.

I've been skeptical that the same media, that early on conspired in this cover up by intentionally pouring all of its focus and fire on Mitt Romney's criticism of the Cairo Embassy apology, would go near this before the election. But the sins are so great and glaring, it doesn't look as though ignoring it will be possible for another 40 days.

The MSM is beginning to turn on the president. And now it looks like the dems are, too.

This is the WORST possible timing for Obama, and awesome news for us folks who want a "one and done" president.

No disrespect to the SoS (although I have next to zero respect for her to begin with), but she seems to have aged 30 years in the past 30 days.

What does SHE know that WE don't know.............yet?

Obama campaign send desecrated flag down the memory hole
By Thomas Lifson, Sep 24, 2012

What if the Obama campaign had a disaster and the media refused to report it? I suspect we are about to find out.

The Obama campaign has in effect confessed to what I called "virtual flag desecration" with the grotesque Obama flag campaign stunt, offering a "limited edition" Obama flag.

Now John Hinderaker of Powerline reports:

quote:

The Obama campaign has quietly ditched the flag poster, which now returns an error message if you try to buy it at the Obama store.

It never happened, see? Just a tech gltich, evidence gone.

This is contemptible behavior. People who love the flag, who fought for it, or who lost loved ones fighting for it, deserve an apology for this desecration. Now they try to pretend it never happened.

The media don't want to touch this story with a ten foot pole, but had the Romney campaign done something patently offensive to a large segment of the population, they would talk of nothing else.

Court, your comment above...

American business . . . fool not thyself . . .is currently "on hold" awaiting the outcome of this election. Businesses haven't a clue as to what the tax environment or legal theater looks like for even the next 2 years. Hiring employees or even thinking about expanding a business, i the USA, in the current environment is a fool's errand.

...dovetails nicely with this:

Poll: Obama's Policies Make It Tougher for Small Business to Succeed
By Tony Lee, Sep 27, 2012

Due to burdensome regulations, taxes, government spending, and the increasing cost of health insurance and energy under President Barack Obama’s administration, a majority of small business owners and manufacturers believe the economy is in a worse position for them to succeed than three years ago, according to a new survey.

Nearly 70 percent of small businesses and manufacturers surveyed said Obama’s regulatory policies have hurt them and there was too much uncertainty in the economy to expand. Over 50 percent of those surveyed said they would not start a business in today’s economic environment, and foreign countries like China and India are more supportive of small business and manufacturers than the United States.

Public Opinion Strategies (POS) surveyed 800 small business owners, manufacturers, and decision-makers at small and medium-sized companies on behalf of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). POS conducted the interviews August 13-September 4.

“The data in this survey offer a striking picture of how American businesses view the current state of the U.S. economy,” Bill McInturff, of POS, said. “It’s clear that small business owners and manufacturers are becoming increasingly more frustrated by the federal government’s inability to solve America’s economic problems. Manufacturers place most of the blame squarely on policies coming out of Washington.”

NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons said the survey’s findings “show that manufacturers and other small businesses have a starkly negative outlook for their future—with good reason.”

NFIB President and CEO Dan Danner said the “government continues to erect more barriers to growth through burdensome regulations that increase costs for small businesses and all Americans.”

Among those surveyed, 67% percent said there was too much uncertainty in the market to expand, 69% said “President Obama’s Executive Branch and regulatory policies have hurt American small businesses and manufacturers,” 55% felt “they would not start a business today given what they know now and in the current environment” and 54% said “other countries like China and India are more supportive of their small businesses and manufacturers than the United States.”

There's plenty more, but you get the gist of it.

This is a pretty damning indictment of our current president and his impact on the nature of doing business in America.

Eight hundred business owners, people with their own skin in the game, and the overwhelming response is, "Mr. Obama, it's time for you to go."

Speaking of.........has anyone else been seeing the rumors of a $35,000,000 mansion in Hawaii that the Obama's are currently closing the deal on? Think these rumors are true?

And, I've read they are planning on moving there in January 2013 - ???

I haven't been able to vet what I've read to my satisfaction so will hold off posting any links, but just wondering if anyone else has heard about this.

Geedee, please continue to fight the lies.

Just as Obama's minions and fellow travelers lie about Romney, Bush, heck, George Washington, on a daily basis, there are people on the other side who lie about Obama.

Basing your decisions on lies will get you screwed, and pull others down with you.

I'll defend Obama against lies, just as I have Bush, or even Clinton. ( a fellow whose respect for the truth.... well, let us first define "is" )

Barry for example, the 57 states thing. He actually specified 60 states. And he was joking. Not a terrible joke either.

True, his delivery could have been better, but he's a pro BS'er, not comedian. True, most of his audience didn't get it, but that's HIS audiences, who are chosen for their loyalty to HIM, not intelligence, or sense of humor.

Let us be fair here, for a second. Ideologues of either extreme have crappy senses of humor.

Leftists, ( and Obama is leftist as anyone, read his biographies ) famously don't have good senses of humor. A sense of humor requires you to see the absurd in a statement, and the nature of leftism requires you to ignore the absurdity in the lies that make up the leftist philosophy.

"We should take care of the poor" may be a nice idea, but when the methods to do so include increasing taxes on the poor to pay for giving money to the poor, making them poorer and more dependent on the "aid" the government "gives" them, you have to be an idiot or deliberately blind to reality to think the method makes sense.

We'll skip the whole deep evil part of making the masses dependent on the largess of the ruling class. It's there, in every decision made by some, but the illusion is, and has always been since the days of the Greek city states, that it's "for their own good". ie. that we are the children, slaves, or subhumans to be cared for, exploited, or eliminated as needs require.

There's no coincidence that the party that fought to keep slaves, and pushed the idea that they were happier with order and control over their lives is the biggest pusher of public housing and dependence. A plantation is a plantation. It's votes today instead of cotton, that's all.

I'm skeptical on the whole vast banker conspiracy thing.

OTOH it sure seems like Goldman-Sachs alumni's and Harvard fantasy land economists run, badly, way too much of the planet.

A separate thread for Federal Reserve/banking cartel/absurdly rich guy money manipulation would be a good idea.

I mean, look at George Soros. Skip his youth as a nazi collaborator, he claims to have been a Schindler, fighting from the inside to save people. Maybe.

His destruction of the Pound, Ruble, and now Dollar have made him vastly wealthy, and he's invested heavy in things like "Media Matters", and Barack Obama.

>>>Eight hundred business owners, people with their own skin in the game, and the overwhelming response is, "Mr. Obama, it's time for you to go."

Businesses and business owners are getting their skin OUT of the game.

Those who would never have dreamt of outsourcing are exploring the option.

They must.

If you were Apple . . . and you were unable to forecast, with any degree of confidence, as the whether health insurance would cost you $1,500 a month or $4,000 a month, per worker, would you . . in your wildest imagination. . . consider moving production of the iPad IV to the USA?

The answer is a resounding "hell no".

Businesses are being forced to outsource. It's due less, I'd suggest, to lower wages than it is higher mobility of resources. Employers, in the current environment, need to be able to change direction and strategy on a dime. Planning, given the way things are now, is impossible.

It needn't be that way.

We are Americans. We have, in the past, proven ourselves to be the equal of any group in the world in terms of our innovation, productivity and creativity.

We, given our reins, can compete head to head with anyone in the world. The best, those to whom we currently occupy subsidiary positions, are sill using out software and relying on our technology.

What a shame that so many, yep . . that silly 47% includes them . . are more focused on "pennies from heaven" . . Obama paying for the cell phone, buying someone's gas or paying for their $30 a month in birth control.

Yep . . we sure deserve better leaders but it's also going to require a renewed sense of the same personal responsibility and accountability that made America great.

A country that won't let you fail makes it impossible for you to succeed.

in infinite wisdom, California has decided to levy a tax on all internet companies domiciled in their state.

why is this important....
As goes California - so goes the nation.
Every thing this guy does is all about taxation, property grabbin, anti-business (unless you are one of his crony supporters)
that it can do nothing but drive business overseas

Remember Komrade, your prosperity is dependant on your greater contribution to the good of all...... It didn't work under Lenin / Stalin
pity they never read more than the cliff notes of that Revolution.

Reindog, as a followup of your post from last night...

This is getting Nixonian. Republicans finally rejected Nixon 1.5 years after his second inaugural. To spare the country, Democrats should reject Obama BEFORE the upcoming election. Watergate was PAINFUL.

Benghazi-gate, anyone?

...I offer this:

quote:

Benghazi-Gate: New Evidence White House Lied About Libya Terror Attack

By John Nolte, Sep 28, 2012

Yesterday, we learned that within 24 hours of something they would spend nine days describing as a "spontaneous" protest gone bad, the Obama Administration itself designated the attack on our Libyan consulate as a terrorist attack. And yet, days later, Obama would trot U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice out to all the Sunday shows to look the media and America in the eye with a wildly false story the White House had known for days just wasn't true:

quote:

Intelligence sources said that the Obama administration internally labeled the attack terrorism from the first day in order to unlock and mobilize certain resources to respond, and that officials were looking for one specific suspect. The sources said the intelligence community knew by Sept. 12 that the militant Ansar al-Shariah and Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb were likely behind the strike.

Further, an official said, "No one ... believed that the mortars, indirect and direct fire, and the RPGs were just the work of a mob -- no one."

And it wasn't just Ambassador Rice telling us something our government knew wasn't true. As this timeline proves, it was also White House spokesman Jay Carney, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and the President himself.

Today, thanks to some great reporting from the Daily Beast's Eli Lake, we're now learning that within hours of the Libyan attack, on monitored communications, U.S. intelligence overheard al-Qaeda militants celebrating their successful attack:

quote:

In the hours following the 9/11 anniversary attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, U.S. intelligence agencies monitored communications from jihadists affiliated with the group that led the attack and members of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), the group’s North African affiliate.

In the communications, members of Ansar al-Sharia (AAS) bragged about their successful attack against the American consulate and the U.S. ambassador, according to three U.S. intelligence officials who spoke to The Daily Beast anonymously because they were not authorized to talk to the press.

As Charles Krauthammer pointed out last night during Brett Baier's Fox News' roundtable, the explanation for the White House cover up is quite simple: At their convention, Team Obama had just completed three days of spiking the bin Laden football and reassuring America that al-Qaeda had been decimated by smart power. Then it all blew up in their face. The Middle East exploded and al-Qaeda successfully executed a pre-planned assassination of our Libyan ambassador.

What to do?

What to do?

Well, when you have the media completely on your side, you use them as co-conspirators. So as the media distracted from the attack by relentlessly hammering Romney over his criticism of the Cairo Embassy apology, the Obama administration fabricated a fairy tale that would avoid game-changing headlines that might read: Al-Qaeda Assassinates Libyan Ambassador; Security Questions Raised.

It's obvious now that the Administration and media are hoping to run out the clock. That leaves it up to New Media and a few legitimate reporters in the MSM to drip-drip-drip out the truth surrounding a first class scandal --a scandal in three parts: 1) The lack of security at the consulate. 2) The lies about this being the result of a spontaneous demonstration. 3) the cover up of numbers one and two.

But if what I'm seeing today is any indication, the media remains as guilty as the Obama Administration in what's now known as 'Benghazi-Gate'. Because the more proof of the White House cover up that's discovered, the more the media disengages from the story.

Solely because it might damage Obama's reelection chances, the biggest story in the country right now is not being told.

Corker: Administration's Response to Libya Consulate Attack "Nothing Short... of Benghazigate"

Published on Sep 27, 2012 by senatorcorker

September 27, 2012 -- On Fox News Channel's "Happening Now," Senator Corker questioned the Obama Administration's response to the September 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that resulted in the death of four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens. "We have not been told clearly what has happened," said Corker. "...this is turning into something not short of Benghazigate... Why are we not being told what has happened to these four Americans?" Corker is the cosponsor of legislation to require an investigation and report on recent attacks at U.S. missions in Libya, Egypt and Yemen. On Tuesday, Corker joined Sen. Isakson to send a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton demanding more details regarding the increasing threats and security concerns that preceded attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

This smells of a nascent Watergate. Go ahead, America, and elect Obama if you wish complete governmental gridlock until he resigns. This ain't going away, folks. Milhouse, too, thought that the Watergate cover up had been swept under the rug at the time of the '72 election. At some point, Obama supporters will either wake up or slither away.

We only have two choices, folks. Elect Romney or watch Obama become entangled in his deceit. The latter is all too abundant and in plain sight if one chooses to open their eyes.

History does truly repeat itself.

Tom, this is an interesting, in-depth, relevant read:

quote:

Obama gets no help on his Libya debacle
By Jennifer Rubin, Sep 28, 2012

President Obama doesn’t enjoy much personal loyalty except for a few longtime Chicago pols (e.g., Valerie Jarrett). He’s a cool, remote figure who doesn’t spend time building relationships in Washington or around the world. So it doesn’t surprise me that both Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta are publicly saying that the Libya consulate attack was a pre-planned al-Qaeda operation. They want no part of, and no blame for, the scandal enveloping the White House.

...It is getting harder and harder for the mainstream media to run interference for the White House, which they would have us believe is grossly incompetent but honest. Eli Lake, who broke the story that the administration knew within 24 hours that the embassy attack in Libya was a terrorist operation, now reports that the administration “within hours” of the attack intercepted communications between the attackers and al-Qaeda of the Islamic Maghreb.

And that top-secret FBI investigation that is supposed to shield the State Department and other from further queries? Umm. Well, there really isn’t one yet. (“the FBI — which has been dispatched to Libya to take the lead in the investigation — has not even reached Benghazi yet”). Safe to say that they haven’t secured the “crime scene.” The premise that this is akin to a criminal investigation (and hence can’t be discussed) is as credible as the idea the assault was a reaction to an anti-Muslim movie.

Hillary Says Goodbye to 2016 Chances
By Joel B. Pollak, Sep 28, 2012

It remains unclear whether President Barack Obama's lies about attacks on U.S. embassies will cost him re-election. One thing is certain, however: whatever ambitions Secretary of State Hillary Clinton once held to run for president in 2016 have been damaged beyond repair.

Here's one of Obama's big fans.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/28/opinion/krugman- europes-austerity-madness.html?_r=0

"....Why, then, are there demands for ever more pain?

Part of the explanation is that in Europe, as in America, far too many Very Serious People have been taken in by the cult of austerity, by the belief that budget deficits, not mass unemployment, are the clear and present danger, and that deficit reduction will somehow solve a problem brought on by private sector excess. ......"

Gee, I just don't understand the brilliance of this Nobel Prize winning witch doctor. I mean, Economist. Can the Europeans here explain to a simpleton what private sector excesses have led to high unemployment?

I was under the impression that the social democracies had spent all the money they took in in taxes, borrowed most of the rest of the available money, and now were arguing over who pays back who, and who will loan them the money to pay back...each other?

No, that can't be right. Doesn't make any sense. That would be like Congress here not doing a budget for 3 years and spending more money than the rest of the planet combined.... THAT can't happen.... right?

Absolutely Uncertain
Published on Sep 26, 2012 by RightChange

A new, 18-minute mini-documentary follows the journey of Irina, a 23-year-old liberal, Jewish New Yorker who voted for Obama in 2008. Yet as her connection to Israel has grown, and she has learned more about the President's policies across the Middle East and towards Israel in particular, Irina has come to realize that "when the chips are down," the President may not "have Israel's back" as he says.

The short film features:

Exclusive interviews with leading journalists and politicians in Israel
(Bloomberg, London Times, Jerusalem Post, etc.)

Mainstream news reports (CNN, MSNBC, ABC, BBC, etc.),

Clips from longtime Democratic supporters including: Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz Former NYC Mayor Ed Koch Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY)

650,000 hits in three days. Impressive.

'Slicker, do you know who Walid Shoebat is?

I've been putting a lot of thought into what 0bama's end-game might be; I don't like the conclusions I draw.

What do you think is gonna happen in the short-term and long-term if:

- He's reelected;

- He's NOT reelected.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-29/iran-s-ah madinejad-says-talks-will-progress-after-u-s-elect ion.html

The grand nutcase of Iran has a point in that our Republic gets hung up on foreign policy decisions during an election year.

Now, with the Eternal Campaign of BHO, which never, ever stopped after he took office, but just kept on going for the last 6+ years the "election year" is 2, 3,5 years long.

In the case of Iran, however, our foreign policy should be well decided.

Iran is an international outlaw that murders and kidnaps diplomats and civilians, no matter their status. They have done so since the earliest days of the theocracy under the Ayatollahs, and do so today.

Iran has supplied weapons to terrorists in Syria, Palestine, and other countries around the world.

Iran has supplied aid and weapons to the Iraqis. Specifically, to the Iraqi AQ forces, and the Bathist relatives and minions of Saddam Hussein, to be used specifically, against US troops, diplomats, and aid workers in Iraq.

Iran has supplied weapons and aid to the Taliban in and around Afghanistan. To kill US troops, diplomats and aid workers.

Iran has facilitated and recruited terrorist from around the world, to kill US troops, diplomats, and civilian aid workers that do such hateful things as build schools, create public water & sewer works, build hospitals, and supply medical care. Smuggled these terrorists into both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Iran has declared, publicly, repeatedly, that Israel is to be wiped from the face of the Earth, and so will the corrupt and blasphemous reality of the United States, and all of Western civilization.

The Goal of Iran and it's miraculously re-elected leaders is to lead the way into the apocalypse, as the Madhi Rises from his grave in a well, leads the medieval world into conquest of the west, Europe, and all mankind, the imposing of Sharia law to every corner of the Earth, and the destruction of everything. Everyone. Everything. in the End days.....

And they mean it. Literally. Deeply, with all their Hearts.

Not in some unspecified future, as your neighbor in an evangelical church might believe and even discuss with you over BBQ. But this lifetime, this decade, this year. Now.

Toss in the massive intel failure that is Iran, from Jimmy being told the Ayatollah in exile in France ( a very luxurious exile ) was "a saint" ( because he used language referring to God in every sentence... a sure sign of sainthood to a State Dept. Moron. ) to the belief, without any rational foundation, that "Iran is within 5 years" of an Atomic Bomb..... for well over a decade....

You have a bad situation.

Now, I blame Bush. ( I blame Carter more.... but time has shown him to be a very good buddy to the most rabid antisemites in the region. I also suspect senile, and delusional. Ok, he's always been delusional. I'm still apologizing for voting for him. I was fooled by the Playboy Interview... Sorry, again. )

Bush should have patrolled the Borders of Iraq with Syria and Iran, intercepted and destroyed the weapons and fighters sent to kill our people, and made a point of turning Iran's leaders into sh88stains in history. I would have burned the bodies of the infiltrators on the spot, within sight of the Iranian border outposts, and the moment I had absolute proof that Iran was an active participant, bombed every house of the Ayatollahs, the President, and the Revolutionary Guard. ( I'd also have giant bill boards along the border with the naked prisoner on a leash behind a US female GI. I'd have prosecuted the abusers of prisoners... but those signs would be a reminder of how we will emasculate anyone who messes with us. )

Proper understanding of a culture does not automatically convey respect. It should give you insight into how to manipulate them. We have messed that up, badly.

Now, we have the Iranians waiting, like Putin, for Obama to be able to be more flexible in how he sells out Europe, Israel, and the rest of Western Civilization in his pursuit of anti-colonialist neomarxism.

Freaking grand.

This is, unfortunately, EXACTLY how I'm interpreting our current situation.

Thanks for the good read.

Nice post about obamas' lies, Most folks with an IQ above plant life know some where that If the guy is talking he's lying.

The past few days Fox news web site had put up pieces on media bias and gaffels.

I hope that the Feel good voters will wake up over this middle east, high energy costs, soaring health care costs, and worst of all The Dissing of Israel by the current admin.

How many presidents spent this much time campaigning, or "doing shows"?}

While I've only been on this board a short time, this thread is/has been the best thread that I've enjoyed.

Thanks to all who are posting and thinking about our country and the role we play in world events.

This election is as important as 1980 was.

Thank you, two_seasons. Sometimes it feels like we are preaching to the choir but I think the truth is that we are educating Badwebbers who don't feel comfortable posting. I am confident that we have reached a few people on both the Left and Right to realize that Obama is patently unqualified to remain President.

Do a stoppie for Obama.
Do a wheelie for Romney.
------------------
The "Absolutely Uncertain" video really hits home. One tell of Obama's unchecked narcissism was the clip where he said, "I have Israel's back." Ummm...as the President of the United States, shouldn't he have rather said, "America has Israel's back."
