Tower of Power, So Very Hard to Go. I recently attended a friends college graduation. Graduating at the same time with an honorary degree was Lenny Williams of Tower of Power and he sang this song on stage to the track played over the sound system. Most of the audience sang too. Pretty cool way to graduate.
Gads. . . now I'm hooked on Elton John the rest of the day.
We're having some fun here . . . we're at the power plant and it's funny to have the craft guys (operating engineers, lathers and carpenters) come in and ask where the music is coming from. When they built the temporary construction offices . . . I told them I could do without a desk but REFUSED to work without a proper sound system and at least one guitar hanger on the wall.
I'm getting crotchety in my old age . . . . I'll build your power plant but I have conditions.
22 hour drive back from Bonneville: The Band, Michell Shocked, early blues from the 20s, later blues, James Stewart from Oz, who gave me one of his CDs at the salt after I gave him a memory stick with about 250 early and some rare blues tunes directly from scratchy records (am I a pirate?), Leadbelly, MS John Hurt, etc., etc., across Nebraska about 6 early Tom Waits CDs (before he became a cartoon) and the final four CDs of archaic Charlie Poole stuff with other early 1900's blues and ballads. Whew.
As usual, listening to WDVX before I head to work (Hey Court, et al- try for their webcast at www.wdvx.com!)- they played this... I'd heard it before, but this time I paid attention to the lyrics. Go find your honey and share...
Griff, that was priceless! Back in the late 80's or early 90's I got to see Mojo live in Nashville- great show! He's got a Christmas album that's off da chain too...
