Dang. Last SuperBowl weekend, Court and I did a Batmobile like assault on upper Broadway and Columbia in his Titanium Focus. Things quickly went spinning out of control after that. In July, Laurie and I bought a 2012 Titanium Focus and then five nanoseconds later, Lighton did the same thing.

I love the car. MySync is the only downside with its quirkiness. If you can yack Court down to your price (or vice-versa), I guarantee that you will be happy with the 2012 Titanium Focus.

Court, I'm going to pass on this deal. The timing just sucks too bad for me. I do see a Focus in my future though. The new Escape looks promising too. My wife loves her 2010 escape. Ford is doing a lot of cool stuff!

Street-legal (in Europe) Ford with a 1.0 liter eco-boost engine goes 'round the 'Ring faster than a Ferrari Enzo... and gets 57mpg at 75mph.

Hmmm, street legal in the UK, & therefore the rest of Europe, to drive only.

You'd not get it registered in most countries, particularly France, due to national regulations.

Be fun to have one though.

Not sure I follow - I know thing wouldn't have a chance of being on a public road, registered or otherwise, in the U.S.

Can you drive something and not have it registered?

The UK has a very sensible outlook on vehicle registration, in that if it conforms to the necessary regulations & will pass the annual vehicle inspection, you can register it for the road.

This is not the case in many European countries, France being the worst place for non homolagated vehicles.
Hot Rods are pretty rare here as the legislation on vehicle modification is positively draconian.

Australia varies state to state regarding annual roadworthiness inspections. Some compulsory, some only require for sale of vehicle.

Modified vehicles are becoming rarer because of more rulez all the timez...bastez!

New Zealand has annual WOF - Warrant of fitness, but is almost open slather (compared) for rodding and choppers.

I think US DOT would require it to have windshield wipers, bumpers, blinkers, airbags, roll cage, kevlar canopy, back up camera and of course be ADA compliant.

we aint ever seeing it

Hmmmm, I see a business opportunity.

How about if I buy a couple, register them in the UK & ship them over on a temporary import, then rent them out?

I could do that for the summer months on tour with a toy hauler.

Wouldn't be cheap though.

Moot point to ask now since he just bought it but a friend just purchased a 2002 Focus SVT. I was going to ask about any short comings or things to look for but it's a done deal now. It's got 150K on it and he picked it up for just under $3900. Back seat looks like it's never been sat in. Passenger seat is like new but the drivers seat needs a cover. Thing has all kinds of get up and go. Just wondering if there's anything to keep an eye on?

We had to give up my wife's 09 Escape a couple months ago (work car). I was really hoping for the new escape to be offered but the only ford was the Fusion. Great car but we wanted AWD. Settled for the Jeep Patriot. Not bad but the Escape was way better.

I've got a 2004 SVT focus with the recaros and they are fine fro a couple hours. That is the longest trip I have take. No complaints at all on the comfort.

My 2002 SVTF has the same Recaros, and is extremely comfortable on long road trips. Mmmmmm....Recaros.....

Just made the 1305 mile shot from NYC to Topeka in the Focus . . . I am going to miss that car . . . incredible vehicle.

Taking a wacking trading a 12 month old car with 29,400 miles but I'm looking forward to collecting the Escape tomorrow morning at 0930. I kept having 2nd thoughts and the window sticker stamped "SPECIAL ORDER" snapped me back to reality.

Looking forward to the drive home.

Picking mine up this morning . . . and heading out to see how many of the "great" motorcycle backroads I can find in an effort to extend the trip back to NYC.

I'm headed first to check out some interesting fire hydrants, back roads, a historic hotel and convent in Southeastern Ohio.

The open road . . a couple camera, lots of music and time.

If you find yourself in central Ky. on the 15th on your way to Ohio there is a blues, bikes and bbq going on as well as the bourbon festival.

http://gosoutheast.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi= 1&sdn=gosoutheast&cdn=travel&tm=9&gps=171_126_1020 _584&f=00&su=p284.13.342.ip_p531.60.342.ip_&tt=3&b t=1&bts=1&zu=http%3A//www.kybourbonfestival.com/

And if you find yourself there, highway 68 to 33 has some turns where you can look over to your left and see your own tail lights. And if you make it that far, and still have your camera there are some neat old abandoned distilleries...

http://www.angelssharemag.com/Whiskey_Bourbon/?p=1 298

And there's always horse country and the gorge to get lost in...if you give a mouse a cookie.
