Here's the thing, my RV is equipped with a Brigade BE-245 Backeye camera system, with 2 cameras & a b/w monitor. The monitor & main camera are well past their sell by date & pretty much useless. I also have a brand new Brigade VBV-750B colour system, still in the box. So I said to myself, that's easy just swap the monitor & camera. Wrong! The wiring has different connectors. This leaves me with choices; 1. Abandon the 2nd camera & just install the new system with all the pain of changing & resealing the cables. 2. Buy the necessary adaptors for the cables & use the already installed cables, with the new system. 3. Abandon the whole setup, sell the new system & go wireless. Option 1 is the cheapest but the most work, 3 is the simplest but most expensive, which leaves 2 as the most sensible. I called Brigade in the UK, & a very nice lady checked & told me I needed one AC-006 & two AC-007 adaptors. But they're contractually not allowed to supply me because I live in France & have to go through the French distributor. The French distributor won't supply me direct, I have to go through one of their agents. Of the 2 nearest, one won't supply because I'm not a company & the other only reluctantly but with a minimum order cost due to "administrative charges" total cost with shipping etc comes out near 90 dollars. In other words the thieving bastards want to stiff the foreigner. Truck Equipment Inc, in Des Moines IA. sell the AC-006 for $6.40 & AC-007 for $5.40. Even with taxes & postage it's going to be less than half the price. Any other ideas? | ||

What kind of distance are we talking from camera to monitor? If I thought I could I might try attaching new cable to old and pulling it through but like anything else it's probably tighter than a mouses' ear. If the old cable is good and will, without a doubt, work with the new equipment then I'd spring for the adapters. The cheaper ones. What's the going price to mail something across the pond? |
