I love small government, but starting to wonder about how the republicans truly differ from dems.

good question. I believe Romney/Ryan and the republican party when they say they want small government but I find it highly unlikely that they will really just start chopping.

In one sense it does not matter which one is "for" small government, they are both a collection of flaming incompetents swerving special interests, different special interests to be sure but still small cliques.
Probably the Democrats serve the rich better than the Republicans in that they distribute more government largess to profit from, which is why, in general, the rich contribute more to Democrat causes.

There are a lot of reasons I contribute to mostly Republicans but the big one is by holding the line on taxes they restrict the rise of still more government. - Increasing taxes without spending restrictions already in place will just result in more spending. - They never actually do anything to reduce the government we have.

Sadly, someday very soon, all of this is going to burst like a pus filled boil. - ALL government services are going to be cut back to a paper thin shadow - and - the taxes on EVERYBODY are going to exceed 50% - Yes, I have done the math.
