Have we forgotten what Ryan did to WI teacher pensions and state employee's wages? This guy is the worst person Mit could have picked.

Just what did he do?

How did it affect those who pay for those wages and benefits?

Did you watch the three "Path to Prosperity" videos posted above? What do you think about them? Since "y'all" are anti-Ryan, please post counter argument so that we can learn.

What did he do? Please be specific, and provide links to your sources so that we may all be better informed come November. Thank you.

This guy is the worst person Mit could have picked.

That's a bold assertion. Please enlighten us.

Paul Ryan: A Bold, Smart Choice
By Michael Reagan, August 15, 2012

Choosing Paul Ryan is a game-changer.

Ask the Chicago Gang and its publicists in the mainstream media. They're terrified.

They know that when Mitt Romney chose Ryan for his vice president, it re-defined the Romney campaign overnight.

It proved Mitt was not as boring, cautious and moderate as conservative Republicans feared and the Obama Left hoped.

In one bold, smart move, Romney's VP choice makes it clear that this election is about one thing -- the economy.

And there is no better person on the planet to discuss that issue than Ryan, the young, articulate, spirited, openly Reaganesque conservative who heads up the House Budget Committee and is the leading Republican deficit hawk in Congress.

I thought it was Walker who was the demon that was involved in the state pension issues in WI. Ryan was a US Representative. He would have been involved in federal issues. Did I miss something.

The sad thing about this is that we have politicians who are willing to make promises that just can't be delivered upon long term for their own short term political gains. Eventually someone gets left holding the bag. The bad guy is the one who made the dishonest promises though.

Americans Continue to Give Obama Low Marks on the Economy
Low rating on the economy may be more problematic than even lower deficit rating

by Lydia Saad, Aug 16, 2012, Gallup.com

Three months before the election, President Barack Obama gets good marks from Americans for his handling of terrorism, fair marks for education and foreign affairs, but poor marks on immigration and three big economic issues: the federal budget deficit, creating jobs, and the economy generally.

Mitt Romney’s Strategy to Win the Medicare Debate
By David Muir, Aug 16, 2012

There is clearly a concerted effort by Team Romney to get out ahead of the Medicare debate.

Democrats have argued that Rep. Paul Ryan‘s various proposals to solve the budget problem would essentially end Medicare by making it a more market-based system for people under 55.

We’re now starting to hear and see a plan of attack emerge from the Romney campaign to combat those assertions.

Ryan — as he did last night in Oxford, Ohio, and will continue to do today — argues that they welcome the debate on this.

“We want this debate, we need this debate, and we will win this debate,” Ryan told the large rally at Miami University in Ohio.

Ryan has also been going out of his way to say he and Romney don’t want to change Medicare for anyone 55 and older. And for those younger — you’ll have a choice between the same Medicare you’ve always known, or a voucher-like system that allows you to find your own coverage. Ryan does not use the word voucher.

Ryan’s earliest budget proposal did not include the option to stay with Medicare as we know it, but that has been added to subsequent proposals.

I'm very curious to know how a federal representative, Paul Ryan, changed law in the State of Wisconsin. Please enlighten us with your knowledge of this matter.

Last night, at work (I work at GE) I had a co-worker tell me that Paul Ryan is an idiot and "will defend Romney, an off-shore bank accounts rich man" We talked about how the current administration has done nothing for the last 3 1/2 years to better our economy etc etc. She breathlessly informed me "that's because Republicans control everything in DC". When I informed her that for the first two years of Obama's first term that the DEMS controlled the White House, the House of Reps, and the U.S. Senate, she said NO WAY! When I informed her that today the U.S. Senate is controlled by the DEMS and Harry Reid is the Majority Leader, she informed me that "that's only because the Republicans have allowed Reid to lead something in DC"!

You can't make this stuff up!!!!! Out of the mouth of a 50+ year old woman

It would be interesting to know what her news source is. My guess is she gets her news fed to her via television, probably during supper, all the news you can fit into 30 minutes (less commercials), and spun to your dining satisfaction.

Andrew Breitbart: "The media is everything!"

Obama and his minions can't run on their ruinous record, and unlike at this time during the election cycle 2008, Obama has been vetted; we know now that he is NOT who he pretends to be.

When I hear or read of someone who still supports Obama, in spite of his failure as president, I have to assume they're on the dole in some way, shape or form and worried their mailbox money is going to disappear, or tragically uninformed (relying on the boob tube for your news and entertainment can have that effect on a person), or just plain obtuse.

And, if it's the latter, is it deliberate?

I'd look at your co-worker as an opportunity to help educate and enlighten as to what's actually going on here in America. She needs to know how close we are to losing our Republic, and she's apparently not getting that particular memo from her news source.

In the end she may still vote democrat, but at least she'll be better informed about how the whole process actually works.

And maybe, just maybe...she'll have an "Aha!" moment somewhere along the way, and realize she's being duped. Maybe she's actually a Patriot just underneath the surface, and simply needs a little help finding her way.

Ask her if she knows who Artur Davis is...

Best,
Ferris

People who received their education prior to the 1960's must see "we the people" as getting what we have deserved. And, they are right. Every election has consequences. Some of the outcomes aren't evident for several years or decades later, but when they are exposed to sunlight, there should be a serious debate on whether "we the people" should tolerate it any further. We really need to hold our "leaders" accountable. If they don't want to follow the Constitution, then they need to be educated or go home.

Whenever we find tyranny in this Republic, we need to confront it boldly and change/abolish it!

Is there an online source for the "news" that GE presents to you guys? I'm curious what you're being told.

I'm not surprised she relies on TV to stay informed; many people do. And therein lies the danger: "I saw it on TV, so it must be true." Do you think she'd be honest enough to tell you which network? It could explain a lot of things re: her political naitivity.

I'm a patriot first.
It'd be a lot easier to know exactly what you mean by that if we were sitting around a campfire sucking down brewskis after a full day of riding twisty mountain roads, but......I suspect you and I are cut from the same cloth.

Both parties are running us toward the abyss.
I would amend that to say "Both parties (with a few notable exceptions - Ronald Reagan comes immediately to mind...) have run us towards the abyss."

If, and I emphasize the word IF, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are truly who they say they are, they will help pull us BACK from the abyss.

We know that Obama and Biden are charlatans. We know that for a fact.

What kind of President and Vice-President will Romney and Ryan be? We won't know for sure until we get there. For now, we have to take them on their word. I'm willing to give them a chance. I believe they are who they say they are.

I believe they are Patriots, like you and I.

I want this Republic and it's leaders to find their way back to the Constitution.
Amen.

Do any of us really believe there are more than a handful of "leaders" in DC that could hold a candle to our Founding Fathers?
There aren't many, but they're there, fighting for us. Bachmann, West, Gohmert come immediately to mind. There are many others. We need to fix our presidential and vice-presidential problem, and we also need to fix the rest of DC. We can only do this by voting conservative.

Whenever we find tyranny in this Republic, we need to confront it boldly and change/abolish it!
Spoken like a true Patriot. I concur. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan talk the talk. I'm willing to give them a chance to walk the walk.

Can Paul Ryan Be a Progressive Hero? How Romney's Choice Could Win the Left, the Right and the White House
By Bill Shireman, Aug 16, 2012

No sooner had Mitt Romney announced his running mate than political strategists for both sides began spinning him into a straightjacket.

But for once, they were dressing him in the same clothes. Both sides cast Paul Ryan as a conservative ideologue who would dramatically cut the size, cost, and power of the federal government, expand domestic energy development, and allow individuals and companies to succeed or fail based on their own initiative.

...Together, [Rommey and Ryan] can do something almost unprecedented in recent politics. They can tell Americans the truth.

How can [they] attract the center and left, while maintaining the conservative base? By taking one more bold step, and telling the nation three simple truths.

The first truth is that conservatives are right -- as a nation, we are out of money and deep in debt.

The second truth is that liberals are also right -- we can't pay off our debt by extracting it from the poor, the middle class, or the environment.

The third truth is that to meet both our economic and our social obligations, we can't just spend-baby-spend or drill-baby-drill, as the left and right propose. Nor can we force the nation into a right-wing social straightjacket that idealizes the 1950s.

Instead, America needs to create value again. For that to happen, we need to change the way we tax, spend, and grow.

Radford Baker's Business Booms After Biden Brushoff
By Mason Adams
The Roanoke Times
August 17, 2012

Just call him "Chris the Baker."

Chris McMurray had just opened his family's bakery, Crumb & Get It Cookie Co., on Wednesday morning when he received a visit from Joe Biden's advance team asking if he'd host the vice president for a media event before a speech at Virginia Tech. McMurray politely declined out of a difference in politics, and Biden instead went up the street to [redacted].

Later that day, WDBJ (Channel 7) reporter Orlando Salinas received a tip about Crumb & Get It via text message. The resulting story was picked up by the Drudge Report and a series of conservative blogs, leading to an outpouring of support online and at the store Thursday.

At noon, McMurray turned down an interview request because he was too busy fielding a steady stream of orders, both from customers at the store and from out-of-state patrons. A little more than an hour later, he closed the store because it had run out of cookie dough. It reopened a few minutes later, but with a sign in the window noting that only ice cream was being sold.

"It's been a great day, a lot of great support," McMurray said when he had a moment to talk. "A lot of folks are calling orders from out of state for local businesses and charities. That's what we've got to catch up on."

This is starting to get interesting . . . .

Yesterday Media Matters, a de facto arm of the Obama campaign, calls the Navy Seals "gutless cowards". That'll be tough to fix. Curious to see if he'd do that to one of them in person.

Biden the buffoon has been sent home to Delaware, in an unscheduled campaign move, to cool his heels, and lips, for a bit. As if his stupid racial remark wasn't enough, then he went and shot his mouth off about General Motors being "alive".

GM? . . huh? Well, kinda. You have to understand what "doing fine" (remember the way the Big O described the state of small business) means to these guys.

He failed to mention that GM is hemorrhaging money in Europe, has market share falling like a rock in America, just fired it's entire marketing team, paid ZERO TAXES (turns out Romney did, GM and GE didn't) but . . paid $200,000,000 in bonuses and is being kept afloat by the strangest balance sheet entry showing $30,000,000,000 worth of "goodwill".

Not all business is doing back however . . . John Hynansky of Winner Auto just got millions of "stimulus money" to build a new car dealership . . . wait . . . wait . . in the Ukraine.

We learn this morning that Janet Napolitano . . .who's Chief of Staff has taken an "unscheduled leave of absence" . . . may step down over the allegations of impropriety in her Department of Homeland Security

On the very cool end of things . . neat to see some Wal-Marts with designated parking for Wounded Warriors.

I'm making my own bumper sticker . ."END THE EMBARRASSMENT"

Romney Campaign Raises $10M with Careful Ryan Rollout
By Joy Lin, August 17, 2012

The Romney campaign has managed to both bury the headline and make the lead.

Saturday morning is hardly primetime in the news business -- viewership is down, internet traffic is low, radios are turned off. Yet the Romney campaign has demonstrated an affinity for timing the release of their headlines to Saturday mornings: last weekend it was the announcement of Paul Ryan as running mate, and this weekend it will be Ryan's highly anticipated debut in the crucial swing state of Florida, where the House Budget Committee Chairman will address the controversial subject of Medicare reform with senior citizens at The Villages retirement community. The speech is so important that Ryan's 78-year-old mother Betty Douglas will also be there, if only to reinforce the message of her son's good intentions.

I just got back from a four day motorcycle trip with some buddies. The one I roomed with has just submitted his retirement papers after 24 years in the marines. We talked all kinds of politics in the four days we were there and the thing I kept coming away with is why, in the greatest nation in the world, are we, the American people stuck with voting in, the ruler of the free world, the lesser of two evils? The only thing I can think of is everyone who is smart enough, brave enough and could do the job; already have jobs. Good jobs that don't get nit-picked in the media and make good money. Is there any other job in the world that requires a candidate to spend millions upon millions of dollars at a 50/50 chance to make, what, 400K something a year? Insane. I guess with all the mudslinging I'm just put out with all of it.

Like I said before, I'm ready for someone to make the sink or swim decision.

Oldog: West would make a great Veep and/or Pres; I'd vote for him without hesitation or reservation.

Kyrocket: I don't consider R&R to be the lesser of two evils. IF they are are who they say they are, IF they are for real, they are our only hope for saving our Republic.

We know O&B aren't for real; the damage they've inflicted upon our country, both financially and "emotionally," is devastating and well-documented.

I'm betting that R&R say what they mean, and mean what they say. I'm betting they're for real.

Our liberty depends on it.

Romney's Present, Ryan's Future
By Charles Krauthammer, August 17, 2012

Vice presidential picks are always judged by their effect on the coming election. They rarely have any.

This time could be different. The Democrats' Mediscare barrage is already in full swing. Paul Ryan, it seems, is determined to dispossess grandma, then toss her over a cliff. If the charge is not successfully countered, goodbye Florida.

Republicans have a twofold answer. First, hammer home that their plan affects no one over 55, let alone 65. Second, go on offense. Point out that President Obama cuts Medicare by $700 billion to finance Obamacare.

It's a sweet judo throw: Want to bring up Medicare, supposedly our weakness? Fine. But now you've got to debate Obamacare, your weakness -- and explain why you are robbing granny's health care to pay for your pet project.

Youth Vote Slipping from Obama
By Charlie Kirk Aug 17, 2012

...A new poll by John Zogby [see article below - FB] shows for the first time over 40% of younger voters back Mitt Romney. This number is astounding, considering President Obama has 27 million LIKES on Facebook, 18 million followers on Twitter, and is still considered to be very likable. Although, despite his 'likability" younger generations are tired of the same political talking points, and empty promises. They are looking for a problem solving candidate, or two.

Since the selection of Paul Ryan, we have seen Governor Romney’s youth approval ratings increase steadily. Congressman Ryan brings a youthful approach to politics; he does p90x, listens to Led Zeppelin, and is only 42 years old. But most importantly, he has a solid record of proposing solutions. Many of my friends disagree with Congressman Ryan's solutions; they think they are 'extreme' and 'radical'. He has won over their support because he has a plan and he sticks by it. Something President Obama has failed to do during his tenure as President.

A Romney First: Over 40% Of Youth Vote Back Him
Aug 15, 2012

For the first time since he began running for president, Republican Mitt Romney has the support of over 40 percent of America's youth vote, a troubling sign for President Obama who built his 2008 victory with the overwhelming support of younger, idealistic voters.

Pollster John Zogby of JZ Analytics told Secrets Tuesday that Romney received 41 percent in his weekend poll of 1,117 likely voters, for the first time crossing the 40 percent mark. What's more, he said that Romney is the only Republican of those who competed in the primaries to score so high among 18-29 year olds.

"This is the first time I am seeing Romney's numbers this high among 18-29 year olds," said Zogby. "This could be trouble for Obama who needs every young voter he can get."

My thoughts exactly. Regardless of one's position on political issues, what party they vote for, social, economic or educational status, we need to demand the best candidates to lead our country. The lesser of two evils approach is insane.

I think we miss out on a lot of great candidates because they work in private industry and are reluctant to step into the public spotlight. We have great CEOs that have helped navigate businesses through tough economic times and emerge unscathed. Parallel how some American companies weathered the recession with the position GM is in now- gov't takes over, assigns people whom have never worked in the industry before and see where we're at. Granted, the auto companies were not in good shape when they were taken over, but they're in shambles now and we, the majority stockholder of GM, lost out big time.

I don't think our country is on a sustainable path, and we’re being lead by many career politicians or folks whom have never had a real job and aren’t bright enough to understand the implications their actions have on our country and future generations. Tough decisions have to be made, feelings will be hurt, but our country needs to be steered on a new course to keep our way of life and country sustainable.

Romney’s a businessman. People may not like the nature of his business, but he understands what is takes to run a business (or country) in a sustainable manner. I think the Romney/Ryan ticket is certainly a step in the right direction to correcting our fiscal troubles and ensuring prosperity for future generations.

My hope is that, if elected, R&R follow up on their promises. Obama was elected on Hope and Change, and I've lost hope, and see what change we've gotten... It's time we demand better leaders.
