So long as you're ok getting your ass kicked by angry parents, have at it.

The way you describe your envisioned condom gifting crusade sounds a lot closer to promoting underage (illegal) sexual activity than aiming to curtail unwanted pregnancy. Your method does away with shame. That's a huge problem. The utter contempt for parental authority is also a big problem. Invoking and comparing responsible parenting to obvious child abuse or child neglect pretty much concedes the point.

Shame works. Just compare the prominence of unwanted underage teen pregnancy over time.

Besides that, your conclusion is entirely unproven. Merely offering free and easily accessible condoms has never been shown to reduce the rate of unwanted underage teen pregnancy. It's not like condoms are difficult to obtain.

You might also want to research the effects of casual sex among underage teens. Calling condoms " happy balloons" likely ignores some dire statistics associated with promiscuity among underage teens. Not that any of the fornicators in our popular media want you to learn such information.

Free societies erode and crumble when they abandon the principles which informed their prosperity.

Isn't a meaningful life one approached less as a joy ride but rather more as a journey towards truth and grace?

I'm ambivilent on the whole "free contraceptives" thing.

On one hand, I get the "hey, it's my money, and if I want to give it away and think it helps, and the person getting it is a legal adult then you mind your own business".

On the other hand, I think at the end of the day more like Blake does (though with less threat of violence). Handing out free condoms to keep people safe may be like handing out free helmets to 19 year old male owners of 1000cc sport bikes. The helmet is neither the problem nor the solution, and all it does is make things worse. Perhaps you would be better off from a safety perspective telling them not to use a helmet and mounting a sharpened steel spike pointing right at them from the tank. Your goal should be making them undersrtand how incredibly unsafe they are currently behaving, not giving them the illusion that they can fix things by slapping on a helmet.

But like I said, I'm not sure what the right answer is.

I'm ambivilent on the whole "free contraceptives" thing.

The thing is - nobody - Nobody - NOBODY - much opposes providing contraception to people past high school age.
Most employers health plans already include them or include them with a co-pay. - Target, Wally-World and others provide them at near free rates. - Many doctors pass them out as samples.
The animus towards Planned Parenthood is directed to their abortion services not their contraceptive ones.

All the ire is directed to such an incredibly small segment of the universe - Using force of arms to make conscience based organization act in variance to their conscience.

If any court, anyplace, attempts to force conscience based organization to act contrary to the dictates of their conscience:
1. I hope and pray (Can I say that in a public forum?) they pull the plug on their institutions. - OK lefties build your own soup kitchens, deliver the meals, staff the hospices, . . .
2. We can consider the 1st Amendment null & void and seek redress in the others .

By the time a kid is in high school, if they haven't been taught respect for others, and have not had the ( religious/rational ) upbringing to have modesty/self control/sexual restraint ( no matter if religious shame or rational self enlightenment ) enough to partially overcome the raging hormones No One at that point is going to stop them short of sex segregated schools. Boarding schools. That kind of change in our culture's just not going to happen.

Note that I think it possible to have a moral code absent supernatural beings. Logical and enlightened self interest with a dash of empathy and a study of the history of morality can get a person to a point where they can function as a productive and "good" person. Even if they don't believe in Ba'al. Or any other deity that will punish them for misbehaviour.

I admit that the specific kind of atheist that objects to crosses and nativity scenes is usually the kind that hits the adolescent "no" rejection of the teaching of the Elders, and stops his quest for enlightenment there. ( the only people I argue religion with, since theirs is so damn silly. Seriously, the FSM folk at least know they are joking. Objectors of other faiths ( "The War Memorial Has Crosses! AND THAT OFFENDS ME!!!!" ) while claiming to be too smart to follow that spooky nonsense, have no idea that they are the biggest joke around. )

My method only does away with shame related to some mitigation of the actions.

Let me be clear, Christian, and Jewish, culture practice control through guilt. You do wrong you are supposed to feel bad about that. The bad feelings are the negative reinforcement. ( plus punishment from society and parents... that's negative too. ) Other cultures use shame, and While I May have this reversed according to some anthropological beliefs, Shame is external. Others Shame You. Again, negative reinforcement, but the results are different. Guilt is Internal. You Feel Guilty because of Your Actions.

When "guilt" cultures conflict with "shame" cultures, you have serious issues. ( see Judaism and Islam ) "Shame" cultures direct the anger at another.

If I catch a "guilt" culture person stealing, he may be angry at me for catching him, but his negative reinforcement is internal guilt at the crime. ( assuming we're not talking a sociopath like some politicians )

If I catch a "shame" culture person stealing his anger will be outward directed at the person who caused him shame.

The buttons are wired different, and, alas, few people seem to understand that. "Guilt culture" people often see "shame culture" people as dishonest and untrustworthy. ( they also feel guilty at having that reaction of they've been taught the "all cultures are equal" crap. See the US State Dept. where if you get a diplo drunk he'll rant on how rotten the wogs are at his last posting....and deny it under oath in the morning, because he feels guilty at breaking one of his cultures rules. )

End guilt/shame rant. ( and yes, I know papers exist that say it's the exact opposite, and that may be true..... I could have it backwards because I have the words wrong, but the gist is kinda obvious... )

Yes, it's not that hard to get a rubber. It is hard enough in many places that giving them away just might help. The Schools seem to be trying to push limited responsibility, ( "practice safe sex" ) without the moral authority to do so, since the kids know the school is at times working against the will of the parents. Calls to inform on your parents are out there, ( and they no longer teach those wonderful past examples of that ) and some school admins actively work to undermine parental authority by trying to keep indoctrination secret from the parents..

For the kid's own good, of course.

I used the horrible example of the 14 year old girl murdered for refusing to marry the 54 year old Uncle. True case. In the US. ( not normal American Culture, they are immigrants from a "shame culture" )

Also the example of a child dying because the parents refused medical treatment. For religious reasons.

Is that the same as little Bobby not being allowed to take sex ed? I certainly don't think so. The school might though. "No Tolerance" is a state of mind. It's the New Normal in schools.

If I was giving out guns on the street, you may have a good case that I'm the partial cause of increased violence. If I'm giving out body armor? ( a Progressive, Soviet influenced version, would say that the Armor giver made things worse. That's why there is no anti-missile defense system protecting you from Russian ICBM's )

I figure they got the guns... ( "this is my rifle, this is my gun. This ones for fighting this ones...) Changing the culture to reduce the sex is beyond my power. ( I have to compete with the fracking Internet... ) So I think buckets of rubbers filled by a charity is better than what we've got.

Do you really think that's going to get some kid to have sex when he otherwise wouldn't?

BTW, as I've said before, the Government violating the Constitution to force Religious Orgs to supply birth control and/or abortifacients is damn wrong.

I don't even agree with the Religious group in question ( in this case the Catholic Church )
It's still a violation of a secular rule ( The 1st Amendment ) that has a real, historical reason to exist.

I think it very well could help further promote the culture of promiscuity.

I don't think a return to shame is as tough as you think. The culture still exists. Start by ending govt subsidies for unwed motherhood/fatherhood.

But that is the targeted segment of the population most in need! You evil product of a heartless racist insensitive white male dominated Euro fascist buzz word, buzz word, buzz word.......running dog imperialist.......

I could be wrong on this one. I assume that knowledge is better than ignorance. So sex-ed is a good idea. Studies seem to show different. I doubt the methodology of the studies as much as I doubt the way the course is taught..

It's hard to be cynical enough about what and how they teach today in school. At a certain point you say "at least teach them to fill out a check book" then you realize that they won't ever use one. Grade school kids now carry bank cards, and the next month is the phones are the wallet. ( as predicted, quite accurately, in SF by writers like Mack Reynolds and Larry Niven ) If the big companies have their way, any phone, any payment, any transaction is going to be biometric keyed, ( probably a subcutaneous RFID chip.... and the "number of the Beast" crowd will spasm ) where all data is on the Cloud and you just hit the controls and it asks if you want to log in. Then every computer is your personal one, Every phone has your address book, electronic teller/cash register your account info, and your "My Little Pony" wallpaper greets you from walls and floors...

Making dangerous things safer is a good thing.

Pretending dangerous things are safe is a bad thing.

Deliberately masking risk information in furtherance of a political agenda is being a party to murder.

Promiscuity is not safe in practice (contraception is a small piece of the puzzle, and has a lot of real world reliability problems in practice).

Unwanted pregnancies can be devastating to those involved. Abortion looks like a good alternative to some people, but pretty much always makes a bad situation much worse.

Current trends indicate a move to required implant sterilization. You will need a permit from the State to reproduce. ( based on Greenie agenda, "sustainability", and Socialized medicine )

Those who skip out on the implant and get pregnant will "obviously" require a State Mandated abortion for population and Carbon Footprint Control. And Prison. ( based on Current Chinese Practice, and the President's Admiration of the Power and Unaccountability of the Chinese Glorious Leadership. )

As Dennis Miller puts it..Amazing how the Woodstock crowd with it's anything goes mantra is, now that IT'S "the man" a zero tolerance crowd.

We should be thankful for abortion I guess we could be up to our collective buns in whining pissy lying liberals

Their model of society is a culture of death and intolerance Hopfully they will come to the conclusion the best thing they can do for the planet is mass suicide.

Kenm123t, I have to respectfully disagree.

True, we do have less people because of abortion, and quite a lot of them are of African American descent because of the Planned Parenthood Eugenics program to reduce the "lesser races". ( their founders term, not mine )

But it's NOT an automatic that the children never born would all be whining.....etc. True, many would have been born into poverty, and many would have been born with terrible examples growing up, but children often rebel against the example of the parents, so some of those never born would have been productive solid citizens.

It is wrong to assume that the children of irresponsible people will be too. Unfortunately, this is not a study we can perform in a scientific manner.. after all, they're dead.

Agree on the model of society bit.

Disagree, vehemently, on the mass suicide. Not that that isn't the path some are taking, but the intent is to take us with them.

After all, wouldn't the world be a better place "After Man" so the fluffy bunnies can inherit the planet? ( again, their view, not mine )

Not all of them believe that their world view is suicidal. After all, you can just print more money and go deeper in debt, forever, right? It's for the Children.
