I need to get that done also. Last time it was registered was in '03. Good thing Tennessee does not have an inspection program. I don't have a speedometer and my wipers don't work. The rest of it would be good to go though.

I might get back on it today for a while.

Jeep is packed and full of gas. Getting ready for a weekend of wheeling and camping.
I'm just glad its gonna be damn near 100 deg. WOOT!!
But not to fear. We are putting my jeep in the back of one of my jeep'n, rid'n, teach'n friends toy hauler..... it has AC

Oh you suck. Post pictures!

I have purchased the brake parts for my Jeep, just been too hot to get them on!

Looks like Chevy brake hoses use, just guessing, 5/16" brake tube fittings and the Jeep side are 1/4" or something like that. Crap.....now I got to measure and adapt!

Did some hardcore camping... you know... A/C, bed.. bathroom, kitchen.. it was ROUGH ; )





and saw these...



Thought they looked pretty cool... and by the end of the weekend...I figured out I needed a set.
Kinda got hung up on a couple of obstacles and gave the Jeep a little more character.
Just ordered a set of sliders and I'm going to stop at Tube Tech on my way home to see how much it will cost to get a set of "step/kickers" bent and welded on
Also toasted the cooling fan clutch and had a little overheating problem. Wedged some string into it and was able to wheel without it getting to hot.
Did a flush and fill last night.
I should be good to go until next time.


and I almost forgot... picked up a "net" top for the back half of the jeep for 50 bucks.
Thanks to the guy that ordered the wrong item : ) Bad for him.... good for me!

They turned out better than I expected.










They have since received a coat of black paint with some non skid tape.

Very nice! I have been watching the jeep scene ever sense I sold my 89 wrangler. It seamed that it was 'angle slider' vs 'tube step' option. Those look like the perfect blend of both. Good luck!

Those are cool looking. They remind me of the side bars(they called them 'rub rails') we ran on our dirt open wheeled modifieds back in the day.

That net top looks like it would be able to do it's most important job well.....that is to catch your hat when it blows off!

My Jeep has seen a little welding and some fitting of bracketry, nothing worthy of pictures yet. Brake parts are still in the boxes. Time is elusive.

Oh and I put ~170 miles on the Jeep so far. Gotta get the O2 sensors installed before she'll run at full potential. Better than the 6 though even running really rich.

its never ending....

I think the synchronizers are headed south in my tranny.
If I'm getting on it, going from 1st to 2nd has started grinding.
If I'm easy on it... it goes in no problem.
BUT, I can not down shift from 3rd to 2nd without it grinding.

How hard is it to rebuild a AX-15 transmission?

It's pretty easy, but you'll probably need a press and a parts washer.

I'd find a low mileage used one... They're a dime a dozen.

Be careful of what lube you use.
the wrong lube will eat up the bronze syncronizer rings. (much like the wrong lube in an XB/Tuber will eat up the stator.

Royal Purple looks like the first choice from everything I've read with Amsoil coming in a close second.
The Amsoil was less than 10 bucks a quart, RP was just about 18 bucks a quart and only available at a shop about 20 miles away.
Amsoil distribution location is 1 block over from work.
The choice was easy....

I like older stuff that runs actual GEAR oil in the gear box.

What is up with ATF being in a manual trans anyhow?

My Jeep runs ATF in the four speed manual gear box. Damn Ford trans. I had to work pretty hard to get it to bolt up to a Chevy bell housing and mate up to the clutch for my 400.

Hey Mark, somehow yours sounds like $ cha-ching $ again!

I bet mine would cost more to run if I actually run it!

The NV3550 is no longer made.... and the company "New Venture Gear" has went tits up.
This morning I had a customer in my office and I was telling him of my plight...
"Take it to Jerry's Transmission" he says...
Come to find out they met at the local gun store and have become good friends. I gave Jerry a call and I will soon be the proud owner of a "Rockland Standard Gear Terminator" transmission.

Does anybody have a right front fender flare for a stock 2002 TJ? I have a lady friend who wants me to paint hers because they are all faded but the RF has a pretty good ouchy. I think we would go for a complete set of non-faded ones if the price is right. Also, what is the best spray bomb paint for doing this. Thanks!

She's in OC. I'll ask her within a few days. I am assuming these are held on by bolts or screws through the fender and getting them off might be a chore due to corrosion. Is that right? Are the ones you have in good shape as far as the threads etc. are concerned? Sorry for all the questions, I have just started working on this vehicle and don't know much about it. Thanks.

no "fastners" included...

They are held in place with what looks like a wood screw that goes into a plastic square thing with a hole in the middle of it.
But each flare does have 2 or 3 that fasten to the body via a insert.
All of them can be a pain. You may need to remove the fender liner in order to hold the plastic thing from spinning. I just removed mine all together and painted inside the wheel well black.
