He seemed impressed with himself that he could afford to go to China for his high and mighty meetings.   Somebody is gonna shoot their eye out, and all traces of the bullet will dissolve. Then somebody else is gonna think well why not make a bigger version? Soon it will be on the ASALT list as a dangerous and unnecessary weapon. Actually, that's really cool! I've used an electric flyswatter for years (Harbor Freight has my model IIRC, takes "D" cell batteries, ZAPPP!), but this presents an entirely different mode of attack... He mentions flies and "other bugs"- wonder how wasps and beetles, etc, would fare? The housefly is pretty much a "soft target", and it mainly looked disabled in the wings by the salt shot in each example. I'd like to take down wasps and hornets as needed... I wonder about muzzle velocity and spray pattern too- the "jello shot" kinda showed the pattern dispersion, but without knowing how close he was making that shot, it's hard to tell. 24" aint too bad, but I'd like a tad more range. Could it switch up and take kosher salt for tougher targets? How would the "barrel" hold up over time? Where are the BW gun junkies when we REALLY need them?!  | ||

Oh, and in a similar note to Moxnix, I could see this thing proving quite useful in the kitchen- control pests and season dishes with it at the same time! I'm sure that many kinds of "seasoned salt" would work too...  | ||

Makes me want to build a semi-auto out of 1/2" PVC and a schrader valve for filling from an air compressor. Or maybe tweak a cheap airsoft gun somehow. | ||

Daisey 177 single shot for flying bugs great target practice if you can hit flying wasps etcs with .177 pellet at 30 ft you can hit about anything. asprin tablets are good backyard skeet | ||

My favorite is a propane hand torch. Aim a little gas near a fly and he will usually walk right over to it, Press the trigger...and poof,the fly is toasted. Ah, be careful...........that's fire you are playing with! | ||

Rock salt in sawn-off shotguns used to be a favourite for armed robbers in the UK. That was when very very few coppers carried guns. The theory was that it was still classed as armed robbery but loading rock salt showed that there was no intent to harm, only intimidate, thus a lesser sentence if you were caught. That reminds me, I must go & watch a few episodes of "The Sweeney" to get my nostalgia factor up to scratch.  | ||

When I was but a spotty youth the nice man @ Manor Farm kindly introduced my hind quarters to one barrel of rock salt from a 12Ga when I was innocently relieving him of a few bags of apples. I rode my treader home standing up all the way! Happy days. Chris C |
