I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but I just had an interesting conversion with someone with some insider knowledge telling me that EBR has plans for a 390 single, a 6xx twin, and a 990 triple. He declined to offer info on intended use of each bike saying he had said too much already. This wasn't from an EBR insider specifically, but from a dealer who is currently looking at expanding their brand line up with EBR and has been talking with the EBR insiders. So is this well known info? |

Sure hope they are off base on the just under $20k number. I really wanted an EBR but I cant justify that for a bike. Maybe I shouldnt sell the 1125R after all. |

Direct competition with the Triumph speed triple would probably be a bad idea. MAJOR cult following. Something to compete with the Japanese 650cc twins would probably be a good move though. |

Sifo - I have heard basically the same thing. Someone who works at EBR is friends with the owner of a motor sports shop in Mukwonago that my good friend works at. He used to tell me a lot about what was happening there. He's not really a Buell/EBR fan so he hasn't really told me much lately...even after I interrogate him. Lol |

Direct competition with the Triumph speed triple would probably be a bad idea. MAJOR cult following. There are great bikes in that range of performance in twins, triples, and I4s that have great followings. If that were going to stop Erik, he would never have opened the doors again. The guy I was talking to knows Triumph sales very well and seemed quite excited about what EBR had plans for. I don't know if it would be a naked or what. Now I may have said too much. I would like to see something take on the sport touring category. THAT would probably be a mistake! |

I suppose you're right. Choose not to compete = choose to fail. |

They have a bunch of projects they are working on, including some engine configurations you didn't mention
quote:Sure hope they are off base on the just under $20k number
They aren't off base, thats about what the competition is going for too. $14/15k for the S1000RR, R1, and other Japanese liter bikes, then for around $20k you can also get the RC8R, Panigale, RSV4 and similar European bikes. |

I understand Triumph makes a triple adventure bike. If I (a) had $15k to spend and (b) didn't have the Uly, that Triumph would absolutely be at the top of my list. I got to ride a Yamaha SuperTenerehhhhh, and a VStrom, and while both bikes made perfect logical sense, I hated both. I suspect that pretty much rules out the GS as well, as I have heard it feels a LOT like the Yamaha, but a little better. That leaves the KTM and the Tiger as the best options available, but I haven't ridden either to see how they feel. Or an HP2, I'd look at that as well. But an updated Uly chassis with a nice triple motor? Oh my. That could rock! |

I have no insider knowledge as far as what EBR has in the works for engines, but Steve Anderson said Buell had a triple in development for a middle-weight bike when they were shut down (Cycle World article). It makes sense that EBR would use this engine if they could get their hands on it. |

I was lead to believe that these engines had a lot to do with the affiliation with Hero, so I don't think it would be a motor developed under HD. I think all three were going to be new development motors, so expect to see engineering principles that made Erik well known mixed with Hero's manufacturing capabilities. At least that is what I'm believing to be true based on about 1% known facts and 99% pure speculation. |

Whatever EBR's plans are, this is very cool news. EBR grows, more jobs (maybe a few more who were axed when HD shut them down will become elves again) and we get new bikes And it can't hurt the racing effort either. |
