Wow!!! Had no idea! Enlightening for sure!! Now, what do we do about it? How do we become independent of the banks/credit companies? They're so intertwined in every monetary action we make, cash or credit. Thoughts?
How do we become independent of the banks/credit companies?
We can hack at the branches of our problems or we can hack at the root cause of our problems. In order for us to become independent of the banks, credit companies, and for that matter, the way mega-corporations are controlling our lives, we need to regain our democracy. I predict the Supreme Court's Citizen United decision will eventually result in the United States becoming a George Orwellian society. The Citizens United decision has given personhood rights to corporations. Something I'm sure our founding fathers didn't intend. The problem with large banks and mega-corporations is they have no conscience, no morals, they're essentially immortal, and they can accumulate tremendous wealth and power. Now that corporations can buy elections (thanks to the Citizens United decision) we are in serious trouble.
It took many decades of effort plus a civil war to abolish slavery. The women's suffrage movement also continued for several decades until the 19th amendment was passed. I hope there is enough time for us to rise to the challenge of passing a constitutional amendment which would strip personhood rights from corporations and specify the rights protected by our constitution be conveyed to only natural born persons. Such a constitutional amendment must be passed. It may take a generation for it to happen...assuming we have that much time. Hopefully we'll regain our democracy sooner. Some constitutional amendments were passed in less than a year. If any one knows of an existing push for a constitutional amendment of the type I'm proposing, please let us know.
back up abit - the civil war was not about 'slavery' as in morale/humane wrongness of captive one race over another It was about whether the Slavery of Finance and Industry was 'superior' to the Slavery of Agriculture and Transportation. And which revenue cycle was best fit to feed the beast.
It is the battle between sheep herders and cattle ranchers - in either case - the livestock are raised, forecast, gamed, bought, sold and slaughtered.
The 'win' of the North Made you no more free than the 'defeat' of the South. All it did was change 'property' rules. Please go read ANYTHING on the Civil war before 1903.
If you loved the transactional factorial markets created by the housing market, you will absolutely LOVE the 'exchanges' and their invasion into 'Health Care'
It is indeed a Tax (several of them) - has been since the day it was written - Why should the IRS be satisfied with only 'half' of your assets in a 'death' tax .... when they can lien, assess, fine, seize and game your entire holdings while you are still alive. 'Quality' review boards that determine the 'wealth' of your life (not every theirs of course) It's an artificial 'commerce'. If you have 'universal - guaranteed issue' of 'insurance' based solely on showing up - it is the new 'free money' the new 'too big to fail'.... I give it five years.
so who do you kill ? because whomever you decide to decapitate, the game has been hedged and played- they have bet both sides against the middle. And if we succeed in levelling the Fed/IRS - we would have to have 'some' credit to back the new 'government'.... guess who is waiting in the wings from foreign shores ? The other side of that hedged bet from the same source.
blades of grass, cogs in the machine, livestock to slaughter welcome to the show.
