Rumor, but at defcon orange. I got a call this morning...early, that Fletchers, in Clearwater FL.,was closing their doors at the end of this month. Seems like Bob's death last month was the catalyst for the decision. It's a shame, but probably a family choice to close so soon after the decision. Harley probably won't allow them to sell the dealership.I imagine it's hard continuing on without the King. It is a great store. If anyone is in the area, you should stop by and check it out. Definitely some great history there. (Message edited by pammy on July 11, 2012) |

Hate to hear that... They got any Buell swag going on fire sale prices? Not holding my breath, but... |

When I lived in Clearwater they were my store of choice. Very Buell friendly and friendly in general. It's sad news indeed to hear they are closing. I'm still on their email list and this is the email I received this morning: FLETCHER'S HARLEY-DAVIDSON TO CLOSE Clearwater, Florida (07/11/2012) - Fletcher's Harley-Davidson, Clearwater, Florida announced today that it will close its store after 48 years in business. Co-owners, Laura Fletcher, Peggy McFarland, and Sherry Conder, say "they would like to thank their loyal employees and customers for the best years of their lives while operating Fletcher's Harley-Davidson." Leaving the Harley-Davidson family has been a tough decision as many of our employees and customers are considered extended family members. In light of recent events with the passing of our father, Bob Fletcher, we feel that it is time for us to follow his outlook on life and "Live Life to the Fullest" says Laura Fletcher, President and General Manager, Fletcher's Harley-Davidson. Fletcher's Harley-Davidson opened in 1964. It was founded by Bob Fletcher and currently is owned and operated by his three daughters, who say they are ready to explore new adventures and opportunities. "We look forward to sharing the open road with our customers and wish them many good rides in the future. We have enjoyed being a part of the Harley-Davidson family for the last 48 years and will continue to be Harley-Davidson enthusiasts" said Peggy McFarland, Vice President, Fletcher's Harley-Davidson. Fletcher's Harley-Davidson will cease operating as a Harley-Davidson dealership on July 31, 2012 and encourages its customers to visit one of the neighboring dealerships for their motorcycling needs. Customers can find other nearby dealers by using the Dealer Locator tool at www.harley-davidson.com |

I've been wondering about the last paragraph. "Fletcher's Harley-Davidson will cease operating as a Harley-Davidson dealership on July 31, 2012 ..." Wondering if they are going to shut the doors or switch product lines, leaving HD behind. Squids, last time I was in Fletchers, there was absolutely no Buell swag. They sold out right after the fire sale. |

Maybe. I just hope everyone there lands on their feet. They are a good group of people and I wish them all well. |
