Nice find!
It amazes me what people throw away.
It's also a good thing I don't work at a garbage company. We used to have big dumps to haul our junk to. A trip to the dump was always a big event for me. More like a swap meet.

Dave the amazing! I threw one of them away too.
Sorry to be a downer, but It's only worth about $30 on ebay, very difficult to buy film for and when you do the image is well, like a 1920's photo. OK if that is what you want I guess, but there's a photoshop plug in for that :-)

There's probably an app to do it on your phone too.

And yes I pick up "collectable articles", or "crap" as my wife calls it, from wherever too.
Cleared out my dad's garage couple of months back & came home with loads of stuff, she went light!

"What are we going to do with a 50 year old outboard motor?"
Well I couldn't throw it away, could I?
Anyway it might come in handy someday, what with global warming & all.

They are cool. I have several different ones. Kodak made millions and millions of them so there are a lot around but very cool to look at. Back when Kodak was still the dominant paler in the photo world; before Fuji and the like came along and way before digital Kodak would take some of the profits they made from the monopoly the had and use them to make film for these old beasts. Back in the 70's you could buy rolls that would fit these things and take pictures pretty easily. They have a fixed focus and rely on depth of field to give you a reasonably sharp image so they have a certain look about them but they were fun to use.

These days you would have to take 120 film and reroll it onto the spools these things use before you could take pictures.

Enjoy, that looks like it is in very good shape.

I've got an old typewriter from the same era. Just as old and just as useful. Probably make a better anchor than typewriter but I agree, I like old stuff too.

Good find.

Ground glass back for film packs - Coupled rangefinder - Kodak lens
Sometimes the shutter worked & sometimes not.
When it worked took amazing pictures

My primary goal is to give it a home - Am at the stage in life there trying to get rid of toys so children do not have to do it in a rush

Make me any offer you consider respectful - Am not expecting an e-gay price

Intend to add $20 for packaging & bill later for shipping via whatever manner you select.
Happy to accept personal checks.

I love those old press cameras. Does it have a rear shutter or just the one in the lens? You can get some really neat effects with one of those, all those old pix with the cars leaning forward while going fast are a result of those shutters. Has effect to do in photoshop.

That Kodak is really cool. Would be an awesome piece to try out and a great conversation piece... No clue what to offer on it though.

Just the one in the lens, tho I suppose you could pull the film pack out to control exposure. - Uses cut film, but have seen roll film backs
Was a righteous pain to use but for an incipient engineer w/ artistic pretensions it had it all mechanics - optics - chemistry

Did take some amazing pictures - Nothing like large format B&W pictures , taken thru a great lens - Wish I still had some of them

The lab I was at had a Speed Graphic press camera, you could load single sheets of 4x5 inch film but they also sold multi packs of 4x5 so you could make several exposures without changing out the pack. It had a very large focal plane shutter in addition to the lens one. I took a few pix that had this cool "leaning" thing going on. Interesting that this effect, caused by the size of that focal plane shutter, became the way artists expressed "speed" in paintings and posters. If a vehicle was going fast it was leaned forward.

One of my favorite pix is this one

As I was trying to recover from being overheated at the Heavy Rebel Weekender in Winston-Salem, NC yesterday I took these 2 pics with my outdated digital camera.

camera 1

camera 2

The main thing I was trying to capture was the use of the antique camera. The photographer wisely decided to come to this side of the car to take a pic (and the owner rolled the car back so it was completely in the sun). I overheard the photographer telling the cars owner that the camera was from the 1920's and the lens was from the 1880's.

As hot as I was I could only imagine how toasty the photographer was under the black covering,
