My tenant found this in an old house (he works for an insurance restoration company). Guy said "take it"....so he did. Found out I'm into archery and asked me to check it out.

Worth anything? Or just a neat novelty piece?

Yamaha YTSL-II takedown recurve:

Aluminum riser, 2 sets of limbs. On the bow in the photo are "Carbon Graphite" limbs, rated at 45/44# draw, with matching serial numbers:

The spare set of limbs look to be straight wood laminate, also numbers-matching set, rated for 38/39#:

Its missing the rear peep-sight, but the rest appears to be intact - and it fires very nicely and consistently. I don't use sights anyway, I'm left-eyed and this is a RH bow (but I can shoot RH or LH). I haven't fired it with the long limbs, only the mediums, because there's only the one string and I'm guessing they don't interchange.

Any guesses? Worth cleaning up and eBay-ing? Or, just keep it nice and hack around at targets once in a while? I'm guessing....1980's vintage?

I'm looking for a recurve for my wife, so if it's cheap and you want to sell it.

That is a serious competition recurve. IIRC Yamaha got out of the archery biz in the early 2000's. Some folks really like the Yamahas and still shoot with them. I think they are still seen around olympic trials and competitions.

I dont know how much it worth. Its like a good sport bike, it wont be used to it's potential without an experts touch.

I used to really be into archery I really need to get back into it :/

I suspected it might be something higher-end, just from the way it shoots. Of course, it was found with ONE arrow...so I couldn't really judge consistency properly, but considering I could shoot a round, walk 80 yards round trip to retrieve it, and put the next round within a helmet's size circle of the first...I must have shot this thing for a good hour like that. Nice and smooth, and nice to be shooting a recurve again (my "daily-hack" bow is a compound).

I used to be an instructor, many years ago in a galaxy far, far away...but I still keep my cheap compound around just to fiddle with once in a while. I've found that for me, it's like riding - good for the soul. Helps me focus, and tune out all the crap.

For a little while, anyway : )

Very cool find!
Not sure of it's worth but as has been said it is an old, high end target bow. If it was me, I'd just keep it, and shoot it.
You are correct, the string is not interchangeable if the limbs are different lengths.

That's what I wanted to hear : )

So...are strings still available for it? I can measure the one that's on it...and...guess? on the other limbs...maybe I can put an order together, I need to re-string my cheapo compound too, it's likely overdue.

I don't see any hairlines in the limbs that are on it, and the others don't even look like they've been mounted, much less fired (or dry-fired).

Yep, strings are readily available
Easy way is mount the limbs, then measure from tip to tip, following the contour. It is most likely a 62 or 64" with the longer limbs, then we make a string 4" shorter than that measurement. So a 62" bow takes a 58" string.
