Not agnostic ( though I have been ) or atheist, or practicing Christian, ( though baptized in the Church ) I have to wholeheartedly agree with Moxnix on the liberation theology scam.

This is the PC version. As with all wiki entries, be aware it's NOT an encyclopedia of checked facts, but a slow blog. Note the many politician's entries that are biased by their enemies. Or minions.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberation_theology

Here's a couple of propaganda pages. I think we can safely assume very little truth here. Observe, if you wish, the lies. So you can be inoculated against them.

http://liberationtheology.org/

http://www.landreform.org/boff2.htm

Note the term "land reform" a marxist phrase that implies that the land ( means of production ) should be taken from the aristocracy and given to the peasants that till it. Since this process usually lasts a week or so, before the Sh1t hits the fan and the slavery resumes under new masters, I'm eternally surprised people buy it again and again. Just proves that preaching envy and hatred works.

It's also nearly a definition of evil.

Here's a right wing perspective ( sorry if you dislike Glenn, but he was next in the google search.... ) that has the virtue of being factually correct AFAIK.

http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/ 198/42891/

Here's a little bit of thought from a guy who now has a higher ranking. I believe he has recently referred to Liberation Theology as "Satanic". While not a believer in Satan, I grok his meaning and agree. ( a bit theological for some, and mainstream Catholicism. Really Mainstream. If you are Protestant, the concept of "orthodoxy" may leave you cold, but it's use BY Liberation Theology is important to understand )

http://www.christendom-awake.org/pages/ratzinger/l iberationtheol.htm

Another perspective.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story Id=89236162

What I have come to believe is the Real Truth about the movement.

http://frontpagemag.com/2010/03/31/world-council-o f-churches-the-kgb-connection/

My thoughts are this is completely consistent with the other revelations about KGB operations and the spy war fought by the Soviets after multiple ex-Kgb officers came to the West with documents to buy some freedom. The most successful KGB dudes got super rich on the spoils of the Soviet Union and one is now king of Russia. Though I don't believe that's the title he uses.... ( we got our butts kicked, hard, in the spy war.... With rare notable technological coups like tapping underwater secure phone lines by Submarine, or tapping the main landline in Vietnam with ( the first ) Stealth Helicopters... a real cool story for another thread... )

I admit to a burning dislike of certain "fake" religions created by evil men to manipulate and enslave. Liberation Theology is, like Progressivism in politics, a way to take over a Church from within.

http://blog.american.com/2010/02/liberation-theolo gy-and-the-kgb/

But.... one could make the argument that even those Churches founded by good men for good purposes often ( always? ) become corrupted by greed and power struggles. Observe Scientology. ( Which started, IIRC as a bar bet )

I've often wondered if Foster, from Heinlein's "Stranger In A Strange Land" was meant to be the founder of Scientology. ( Foster was poisoned by his rivals in his own Church, and body preserved on display.... like Lenin. )

Still time to fix things. Just have to wash away the sins of the great hordes of the unwashed, who resist being washed because they would rather "be right."

Prolly (sic) won't happen. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and crowded with the selfrighteous. Good luck with that.

I'm on the 9th floor of a Westin, inside the Beltway in D.C. The Reds won the Cold War and they're alive and happy outside my window. Churches all appear to be monuments to a forgotten religion whilst the cannibals devour the Christians.

I'm in agreement with "house churches" in these polluted arenas of Gog and Magog. In time, as they say in some parts of Africa, the ants devour the elephant. Throw in home schooling, old school styling, my constant whining, and the world improves from the bottom up.

"...the ants devour the elephant."

Was the elephant dressed in red, white, and blue and wearing three inverted pentagrams?

Once upon a time I traversed the USSR on the Trans Siberian Railway, always accompanied by an Intourist guide. In each city, we were shown the great achievements of the collective, and the museums, many of which were refurbished churches. At least you knew inside what you stood.

Sunday inside the Beltway. Missed church, not that I'd know of any worth attending in the neighborhood. So, I'll distill the essential elements of our age from this perch on the 9th floor- race, love, journalistic ethics, immigrant loyalty, multiethnic states, Western aid policy, the war on terror; all of which give rise to an evaluation of moral ambiguity in the world's mecca of government conspiracy.

Just sticking with Christianity offers an emotional resonance to counterbalance the road to perdition offered by politicians, world improvers, and corporate elites.

Cannot remember the exact quote, but Joseph Contrad's Marlow, in Heart of Darkness, said something like, "The conquest of the eart, which mostly means taking it away from those who have, etc., etc., is not a pretty thing when you look into it.

The tourist areas here in Washington, DC, are filled with visitors from across the country who are caught up in pride that's evident as patriotism of the old school.

Read this. Mt 4:1,8-9.( read 1-11 for context)
Who do the nations belong to according to that?
Nothing has changed since those times. Look at the world.

"The mall in Washington DC is laid out so the gardens and streets form the image of an owl. The owl is representative of the mythical goddess, Lilith.

The street design in Washington, D.C., has been laid out in such a manner that certain Luciferic symbols are depicted by the streets, cul-de-sacs and rotaries. This design was created in 1791, a few years after Freemasonry assumed the leadership of the New World Order, in 1782.

In Europe, occult leaders were told by their familiar spirits as early as the 1740's that the new American continent was to be established as the new “Atlantis,” and its destiny was to assume the global leadership of the drive to the New World Order. The United States of America was chosen to lead the world into this kingdom of Antichrist from the very beginning. The capital is Washington, D.C., which is evidenced by the preponderance of occult symbols."

Are you sure you don't want to burn some ancient temples, or blow up some statues like the Taliban?

I'm pretty sure that "luciferic" stuff is an interpretation by paranoid idiots. Are there warnings about the Illuminati? Atlantis?

The grand Soviet style carvings and fascist/communist work over at NYC's 30 Rock, on the other hand is deliberate propaganda in the modern marxist/stalinist mode. If you can read.

Not that I am arguing that Baal does NOT rule DC. But that is in the hearts and minds of the would be rulers of us peasants, not the layout of a park.

BTW the Owl is the avatar of Athena, Greek Goddess of war and wisdom. Some neochristian cults have this thing about witches, satanism, and pagan symbolism..... the phrase "full of ####" comes to mind.

Alfou, you skipped quite a few. Not that I think you have time to make a comprehensive list. Nor do I.

Just a few off the top... Wicca, Asatru, Church of the Subgenius, FSM, Islam ( multiple, Sunni, Sufi, Reform...... ) Hindu, Buddhist ( multiple ), Greenie, Scientology, ( created from a bar bet.... I wonder how many "respectable" faiths also were? ) Foster, UFOlogy, Shinto, Sikhism, etc. etc. .......

Hairy Thunderer, to Cosmic Muffin, we got them all.

As to "can't all be right", I commend to the the fictional faith of the Doctor on Babylon 5 TV series, who was taught that each faith has its grain of truth and was enjoined to seek it out where ever it could be found.

Even those faiths deliberately created to gain power and/or for evil tend to have some small piece of Truth built in. ( telling a partial truth is one common way to lie. ) For example, while the Greenies have as an article of faith "by any means necessary" and "truth is what serves the Revolution", they get both of them form the Marxist faith. ( makes sense since the Green Faith is an offshoot, which is why Greenies are sometimes called "watermelons" ) Even with the built in deliberate tendancy to lie through their teeth, taking care of our home environment isn't stupid.

I attend a nondenominational church that finally bought a building after 10 years of meeting in a rented school gym. Myself, the "home church" environment suits my tooth, a simple relationship with God and only the Bible as doctrine.

Anyone who disagrees with me will spend eternity in the fires of hell, but it's their choice if they don't cave in to my overbearing evangelism.

Jesus really is just alright by me.

Blessings,

Water into wine!
He used to rip it into the established religion. The Pharisees and the Sadducees, calling them,Liars, offspring of vipers.
The thing is, In our day,it's up to us individually,to sort this out:- Mt 24:45-47
