BBC.com tells me that France now requires drivers to carry a hi-viz vest, a reflector triangle, and a breathalizer at all times. Vehicles arriving via the 'Chunnel' or on ferries will be randomly checked, with fines to follow for noncompliance. Motorscooters ( I'm guessing they have a Really Good lobbyist) are exempt. Motorcycles have to comply? The BBC article says the idea is that folks who have had adult beverages will self-test, then decide whether or not to drive. I wonder how well that will work. |

Jeez, the next thing is they'll ban big sodas, salt and transfats. Although that might just be too much loss of freedom for them. |

Yes, it's all getting a bit out of hand. Germany, you have to carry a First Aid kit I'm told, & it has to be in date too. Spain, you have to carry 2 warning triangles, & a hi-viz vest for every occupant of the vehicle. They've been trying to make motorcyclists wear hi-viz clothing by law here, but so far it's not gone through. Phew! |

Jaimec... Lard is all natural. Butter is all natural too. ( but useless for deep fat frying Pommes Frites, imho ) Peanut Oil ( natural ) would be my #1 choice. But it has a distinct flavor, ( as does Lard ) and some may disagree. Taste is taste. ( note to self, go buy lard for fries this weekend... must try ) I've been watching for years as foods once thought evil prove to be far better for you than the "modern" chemistry substitutes. On the subject... a breathalizer???? WTF? What if you are a tea-totaler? Why do I have to carry police equipment? I can understand hi-viz vests, reflectors, even a shotgun. But booze detection gear? Do I need to carry body bags so the police don't have to? |

Yes but it's friendly political debate & nobody's carrying. Buy a round or three of Ricards or kirs & you can be any political colour you like, you're ok (for a foreigner). |
