IIRC, Pacu's are "vegetarian" piranhas.

Used to be a bar/restaurant in Nashville near Rivergate Mall that had a circular ceiling tank, with a few pacu's, silver dollars, and such just doing their rounds.

Loved that place.

Never heard of "freshwater parrot fish".

Pics?

As for cleaning the tank: "Overfilter, and underpopulate." Plus, get a canister filter that has vacuum attachments, makes things SUPER easy.

And...

"What I really want is a pond with a viewing room. That would be cool!"

In my best Cartman voice- "here you goooo..."

Bads1 how do your africans get along with everything else in your tank?? I used to have some africans in my 50 gal and they did not mix well with my other fish. i also recently gave my 50 gallon to my neighbor and set it up for her. She put 9 various africans in and they look great i love the color. My tank really has no color due to the fish that are in it , i would say hte most color comes from the silver dollars and the one green terror.

I also just put 60 fathead minnows in and they are almost all gone in 30 min, and the fish are still small as of now, i would say i feed them around 150 or so fish a week and then shrimp and pees for the smaller fish. they love shrimp and pees.

My Oscar nobody in the tank will mess with him. Hes been with me for 12 years now and hes very calm headed. The african fight amongst one another.... there nature. The Parrots are very large so again nobody bothers them. The tanks is 140. Everyone gets a kick out of the big Ocsar and how hes so friendly. I can actually pet him.
