Has anyone seen an electronic instrumentation panel for Buell? It occurred to me how neat it would be to have an electronic instrumentation panel based on the ECM Spy or other such dash board. Important data in real time.  | ||

Banks has a set up for diesel trucks called the IQ. It would be neat to have that hooked up to a XB. Some programming and I bet it would work | ||

I have wondered if the Inlet Air temp could be added as another choice as you toggle through the odometers, clock, etc. | ||

I am sure you could write an app/program for an ipad or android tablet to act as gauges or run ecm spy. I know there is a company making a new dash for the Harley Dressers that puts an iPad in the dash and does the exact same thing. They are going after the Bling crowd and doing to to watch movies and power big speakers in the bags but the concept is the same. I dont know how well there gauge program functions, it might be marginal at best and just there for legal reasons. | ||

One thing I like about my Buell is that it still has analog gauges. Digital can get very difficult to read in sunlight. Sometimes, old technologies that have been used for generations is still better than the latest and greatest techno solution. For me, I prefer a physical needle. A digital screen is nice in that it can be very flexible in function though. A small multifunction screen next to my huge dials for speed & RPM would certainly be welcome. A volt meter would be real nice to have and add virtually no cost to that set up. Of course this is pretty darned close to what my XB came with. I might have gone with a slightly larger multifunction screen with a few more functions, but it all works very well. The digital speedo on my wife's Street Triple leaves you bobbing your head around trying to find an angle where you can read the thing when you should be watching what is going on around you. Simply put... It sucks! YMMV. |
