Once had a guy wave only to find a cop just around the corner. would have preferred the tap on the helmet signal instead. A wave to me means everything is alright ahead. If I want to wave at someone it's cause they're riding something I think is cool, or give a thumbs up to an older car or hot rod.
When on my harley I don't wave to other harleys, except when it's a female riding solo- props to them!

How about the cluth-hand v-for-vtwin two-finger "finger wave" ?
See/do that often around here.

The helmet tapping for 'cop-ahead' seems a bit esoteric. Never seen it, and wouldn't have known what it meant if I hadna read it here. I have done a left-handed push down sort of thing, and saved a guy a ticket once, he got the meaning.

Let the repost bunnies run rampant. I still think this is funny.

I wave sometimes, and don't care if you wave back.

Here we go again -

I've been telling you people with seemingly monotonous regularity that you only wave at COWS.

Anything else is just wrong.

If there's no cows, use your imagination and picture them grazing out there in that parking lot or woods or those front yards.
Then wave at 'em.

DO NOT wave at cows if you're riding a trike. They become surly and uncommunicative. In fact, if you're riding a trike, stay in your own effing driveway, 'cause me and all the cows (and Slaughter, of course) don't want to see you occupying our bucolic pastures and roads.

There's your answer.
Wave at the cows. Only the cows.

Now, can we just RIDE?

"Moooo...."

Exactly. Proper cow etiquette includes:

-a honk
-a wave
-a spirited "Moooooooooo!"

Bonus points if they come up to the fence to check your bike out.

I honk and wave each time I ride by the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind up in St. Augustine.

I only ever get about a 50% response rate.
