Hey BlackJoe, I got one of those too!

Have you ever visited TheSpeedfreaks.net? Lots of 5.9 Limited guys on there.

Damnut, I should have one of those. I'll post later today if I do.

What are the preferred off roading suspension specs... What is total travel and how much squat is desirable?

Similar ratio of compression to rebound travel as for a motorcycle (4:1)?

I have a two axle trailer with total gross weight of 11,000 lbs that must negotiate the Munson course at Aberdeen. High dollar satcom antenna system mounted on trailer.

One test require running over an 8" tall half round speed bump type obstacle at 12 mph.

Fun stuff.

Blake, I'd give these guys a call...

http://currieenterprises2.reachlocal.net/cestore/c ategories.aspx?id=993

I don't know squat. But from what I have read on Jeep Forum, The guys at Currie know there stuff.

8" speed bumps are gonna be a pretty good jolt at 12 MPH for most suspensions.

I love mine ! I installed a 40K motor in it with a mild cam,K&N air intake, milled the heads a little with a good valve job and I have an SCT tuner.

Went 14.80 @91 stock now goes 14.30's @ 95 Mph.

2734 - Yeah, I've checked out speedfreaks, good stuff there. NAGCA and jeepforum also provide tons of inspiration on how I should continue blowing all my cash. At this point I'm *that* close to being done with the beast (with this iteration, anyhow...) ; )

Wolf - You've done that badboy right. Always love to see the before and afters

its getting there... the problem is, I keep finding stuff I want to do!

Antirock Sway bars
Johnny Joint control arms from Currie
Engine skid
I would lave to put a Dana 44 on the ass end.

I keep looking at the catalogs and Jeep Forum and it keeps costing me....

Do an 8.8 with C-clip eliminators. Much stronger than a 44. You can get one from an Exploder for cheap, and it comes with disc brakes. (And it is the correct width I believe)

Yea the 8.8 is a way to go and it is a cheap upgrade. I put one in my Jeep and could help you with info if need be.

The Explorer has the disc brakes, so the C clip eliminator isn't needed or recommended with the disc brakes. The rotor will keep it from popping out if the shaft fails.

Damnut, I dont have a prop valve from a 96-98 non ABS ZJ. Will one from a 93-95 rear disk brake work for you?

Yea I suppose it will as long as it is from a 4 wheel disk brake one. What do you want for it?

Wolfie...... Here is the TJ install kit for the 8.8 rear.

I think 95-01? Not sure if the 4.0 had them but all of the 5.0 Explorers had the 8.8 rear end with disk brakes. I bought the 8.8 install kit from M.O.R.E. for my YJ, a tad bit overpriced but it takes most of the headaches and guesswork out of putting the 8.8 in a Wrangler. Nice quality steel too.

FWIW, all explorers should have the 8.8 in them, even the 4.0, Ford put the 8.8 in Rangers with the 4.0 (drum brake unfortunately) due to the high torque output compared to the old 2.9. So it would make logical sense to do the same for the heavier explorer...

I have my 94 ranger with the 4.0, 2wd (: (), 5speed, SCLB, its always fun knowing that my rear end is heavier duty than a chevy half ton with a 10 bolt (8.5in) hahahaha it had posi...but i burned the clutches in the somehow....so until i fix that itll be a one legger (unless it rains lol)

sorry for the slight detour...back to your regularly scheduled programming...

$20 shipped work for you? If so I'll see if I can round one up.

We have 8 or 10 of the 93-95 ZJs so I'll have to go look again as we dont inventory prop valves.

We show to have 2 disc rears on inventory so cross your fingers...

Check will be fine.

Under Cover Fabworks no body lift needed skid.
2 3/8" over all depth.
The big advantage will be its SMOOTH and has "ramps". The dirt brake will soon be gone!

Just got done painting it red to match my ARB differential covers.

Awesome! So when you are hanging there upside down the rest of us can just drive over your Jeep without fear of tearing up our tires! I like it!

If you're looking for an 8.8, all of the solid axle Explorers should be the same, other than the gear ratio. What gears are you running/looking for?

Well got a call from the shop yesterday and had to come up with a different game plan as far as routing the exhaust is concerned. I wanted to go dual with one pipe on each side of the trans and out the back behind the tires but the front driveshaft in combination with the position of the transfercase won't allow that to happen. Looks like I have to run down the passenger side of the trans and back across. I was toying with the idea of running down the outside of the frame rail and out before the tires but (I must be getting old or something)that is highly illegal in MA for my year Jeep and I'd rather not be a rolling citation.

I'd go for the USA Standard Gear. They are made by Yukon.
