That's my radio station, Ferris! I heard an Alabama Shakes track just this morning.

Cool beans. : )

Here's some bio on Alabama Shakes, plus a particularly powerful rendition of "Hold On." Brittany Howard good and truly rocks:

Soul, grit, character... everything I look for in new music. Had no problem pulling the trigger on their new CD for only $7.99 on Amazon. Ferris and I have traded music almost since the day we met. This was an awesome recommendation. Right up there with Steel Wheels but I have to give D credit for that one. ; ) At any rate, thanks brother!

JB2, totally my honor and pleasure, amigo. Got lucky finding this band, and now can't seem to get 'em out of my rotation. MUST figger out a way to see 'em in concert! : )

RT, you're very welcome. Not often a new band grabs me so, so I thought I'd toss 'em out here on the board and see if they stuck. This band is really, really, REALLY special. Here's one from down yer way. Grab a drink, warn the missus, and turn it WAY the eff up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : )

I have a feeling they'd be powerful to see in person. Look at the smiles on the band members faces... and the crowd. I'd say they fairly got rocked Stubb's.

Great band. Looking forward to getting their CD. Asheville show on the 19th is sold out, and they've got a heck of a tour lined up for the summer...

They are playing outside of Richmond on 6/22...

I'm just about sans speech here, fellas (say it ain't so, Ferris). Dayum, but does this band ever rock!

Richmond is too soon money- and schedule-wise for me 'n D, but Indy in late July is doable. Just sayin'..................

: )

Forty-three minutes and 28 seconds of live Alabama Shakes (sorry about the frikkin' ad at the start, but it's only 15 seconds); enjoy:

I mentioned this band to my buddy Shap, the KTM maniac who's also a music nut, and of course he saw them a month ago at Ram's Head in Baltimore. He also mentioned a band 'Trampled by Turtles', which is a funk bluegrass band from Duluth. Worth checking out as well.

Prior, I've heard of Trampled by Turtles. Pretty tight band. Ferris caught me off guard with Alabama Shakes but now that I check my Amazon recommendations I see they are there... it says because I purchased the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Another kickin' bluegrass band.

If you're listening to Top 40 or Classic Rock stations you're missing most of the good music out there today.
