FWIW, I've heard that the BRP is prettiest down here around Asheville...

Blasphemy!

One thing that confuses me... Perhaps someone can explain... Folks seem to love the Cherohala Skyway (I do too), but complain about the speed limit on the BRP. Both share a top speed limit of 45 mph though, and only 40 on the TN portion of the Cherohala. Why do people seem to like the Cherohala better?

It is a secret that if it gets out, it will have it patrolled way more often. Shhhhhhhhhh.

The Cherohala is patrolled more often by wreckers and ambulances. About 30 miles of it is in Tennessee and about 30 miles is in North Carolina. It is like a six times larger stretched out Dragon. Traffic loads are usually spread way out. Do not tell anyone about the one or two patrol cars that you might see during an entire day or there will be more. Do not tell anyone about your adventures above the posted speed limit, or it will be quashed.

The Cherohala at over the posted speed limit does not exist.

For camping there is a great place called "Hangover Lead" that is less than 10 miles from the "dragon" as the crow flies. It is also located at an altitude of 5,000 plus feet! The stars are just gorgeous at night. You do have to hike in a ways.

I didn't know if you were trailering to Lex. Ky. or Lex. Tn. After I googled it I'm assuming it's Lex. Ky. If you do plan on dropping there let me know your plans and I can show you around and maybe even get you a place to store the trailer.

Etennuly,

I figured it might be something like that. For what ever reason I've run across more cops on the Cherohala than the BRP. I don't get to ride either of them to establish what's "normal" though. I do really enjoy 143 near Robbinsville before it actually turns into the Cherohala though. Given that is part of the typical Cherohala ride, I would give my vote to the Cherohala.

As for food in Robbinsville, there's a little diner called Lynn's Place. Always got good food there.

Union Man, No one seems to have mentioned the Eastern North Georgia area. It is a great area to ride and the Dragon is only a couple of twisted hours away. We as a group hit that area near Suches for March Badness, April Buells day, and Buelltoberfest. Great places to ride and stay.
