Do you ever wonder why we never get any real news about what's going on in Japan with their HUGE nuclear disaster? Just in case anyone on here really thinks we truly have a free press in this country, maybe you should check this out (seriously scary stuff warning):
Russia Stunned After Japanese Plan to Evacuate 40 Million Revealed

I may get flamed for my cynical remark about our "free press," but it seems to me that the issue of potentially massive nuclear fallout trumps.

Land of the free home of the brave is signing off on tsa agents in buses and other land transport and uav surveillance yet spending more than we will ever make in a lifetime on fighting Arizona for enforcing their immigration laws. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Hmmm. Well, there's news that doesn't get published due to ideological bias, and then there is news that doesn't get published because it is fictional garbage or unsubstantiated here-say. I think I know where the above report stands with most American editors.

the Russians may give up the smaller atolls, but they will not give up Sakhalin - there is indeed a crap tonne of oil there, refineries, and still classified military bases.
You still have to petition to visit as a tourist.
Usually a fat bribe to the Consul Travel Agency (built into your package) and you are limited to a short period of stay
Typically two weeks - UNLESS you are employed by a Co-op entity like the OIL companies or Unesco (good luck getting in there - they all want PHDs for their positions)
But Sakahlin is an untouched, remote and wildly underdeveloped haven
..... plus Japanese girls that speak Russian..... yooosht.

The US News are whores to their masters and advertisers. By 'free' press - it means anybody can get their ideas agenda and propoganda presented as 'news' with enough cash or political power.
