-------------------------------------------------- ---------- Quote: xbniner, Thank you for your reply but I think you are blowing things out of proportion. The Conservatives have been mostly cordial, logical, factual, and tenacious while debating. The non-Conservatives have a tendency to be emotional, refuse to argue with facts, change the subject when confronted, engage in name calling, try to stifle discussion, and just plain disappear. That said, not everyone fits into one or the other category. People like Buellkowski, Fahren, and Drkside are thoughtful and try to understand other's points of view. Same goes for Sifo, Fat Bastard, FB1, and Court from the other side of the ideological fence. I really don't see the hate that you claim to see. Listen, there will always be wingnuts no matter if the topic is Obama or O-rings. Ignore them and learn from knowledgeable people with experience. It will make you richer. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ quote: The reality is I'm a fallen, selfish person with selfish motives and I will do anything to prove I'm right. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Thanks for speaking your truth. I know where you come from and am sometimes guilty of the same thing. That is when turning on the Receiver and suppressing the Transmitter will help you truly learn about others who may not agree with you. -------------------------------------------------- ---------- Thanks for the reply. Let me just say first that I have always had a lot of respect for you and we actually think in pretty similar ways, probably due to both of us being engineers. Like I said before I enjoy a good debate and I will admit to opening political/religious threads here on purpose, whether to learn or help instruct. I must object to your painting people with such a wide brush though. As a political moderate I just have to point out that there isn't as much difference in the level of discourse as you say. In an argument about logic of course each person thinks that they (and the people that agree with them) are being logical and factual. I know you stated there are outliers, but to say that most of the people you agree with are logical and polite and most of the people you disagree with are emotional and diversionary seems to be at best naive. Maybe it's time we all turn the receivers back on? |

xbniner, I might agree with you if we are discussing the general population, but the subject is Badweb. I can only report what has occurred over a long period of time and I stand by my assertions. I have nothing more to say on this subject and this discussion doesn't necessarily belong on this thread. If you wish to continue, I would be happy to contribute but start a new thread and label it in a way so others don't have to participate if they so choose. Again, thanks for replying in an honest manner. |

Squids- I've long pondered an early Goldwing cafe style city bike, minus the kitchen sink kit for touring. But that's just me. I'd prolly call it The Leadwing for the weight whilst striking a pose at the coffee house for a fist pounding on table philosophy session after a game of Go. |

I blame it all on Erik for not mass producing affordable bikes that would lure people here over lively discussion on the handling and features of each. Sadly, all we can do is rehash those topics on bikes a couple of years old or more, or bring up politics which ALWAYS has something new and hairbrained to get people going. Think I'll go okra hunting... |

I miss the old Badweb I do to Crusty! Isn't it amazing how much better this board use to be? Just read all the different topics listed on the quick board! Amazing, isn't it? Thanks for posting that link Tony! I enjoyed looking and reading some of the comments from back then. Real motorcyclist talking about motorcycles. It doesn't get any better than that! |

YUP just me, http://web.archive.org/web/20030802061716/http://w ww.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/discus.cgi One political thread on a random date in 2003... And all of 7 active threads on that day! 26 active threads active today. Seems that even with the political threads taken out, there's more going on now than in 2003. I see the "political thread" back then also had 1387 posts. Seems that back in the good ole days politics had the bulk of the activity. Thanks for sharing some verifiable statistics on how the board "used to be"! |

There are three kinds of lies. Lies, damned lies and statistics. The political thread was started years before. You can twist what you see however you want, but the reality is that Badweb has changed. It's moving away from being a friendly and helpful place with a positive attitude to a political forum full of argument and contention. It's not completely dead yet; but Alzheimer's is setting in. |

Ummm, Ok, it's 1154PM and my last post. The penultimate post was sage advice and observation. Tomorrow's another day. I look foreward to more BW input/output. |

Look in the mirror, Crusty. If you don't like the "new" Badweb, then change it. But whatever you choose to do...STOP YOUR WHINING. Your constant droning about "the good old days" of Badweb makes you sound like an old grandmother and about the furthest thing from a motorcyclist. (Message edited by reindog on April 17, 2012) |

Remember the good old days of Badweb? When we used to sit around, and talk fondly about the good old days of badweb, and lament how it has gone down hill recently? Oh wait... |

I miss the old days of Buell when I had the coming year's new models or upgrades to look forward to once there is a new bike rolling off the line in East Troy that "WE" can afford.... all will be right with the world... Then we can get back to bitching about Bold New Graphics.... Why doesn't it say "AMERICAN MOTORCYCLES" on the airbox?? Teflon tape will save the world... what type of oil is best... Let us not forget the "contact patch"!! I am still with Spidey and Crusty. Way too much animosity sometimes here. Still and all, grateful to Erik and crew for making the wonderful bike that pulled me into this group. Got me started at Bonneville, met so many super people I cannot begin to list them. Some truly memorable events and trips as well. |
