First test ride with the new camera, my GoPro died while changing lenses so I decided to upgrade. Gone is the jello, but of course there are tradeoffs that will need work, hopefully the software guys will be interested in fixing the issues that I've found. Otherwise seems like a decent system once I figure out the best way to fix the wind noise. Here are three short clips from earlier today, had to run them through GoPro Cineform Studio to chop them down so quality is slightly less than it started.

1280x720/60p, the 1080 settings have a wider angle of view but I haven't tried them yet.

Nice.
It was weird to me though, not the camera, or the quality, both of those were more than just ok.
It was the lack of green, then I remembered you're up north.

Great vids. Is that mounted on your helmet or the bike?

It is clamped to the fairing stay under the turn signal. Upper left corner is the front fairing and headlight glass.

Greg, some of the full size video cameras I have had, had a foam cover for the mike that would cut wind noise considerably. On a small camera like that maybe taping or gluing a small piece of foam over the mike opening (small) will help also. Just FWIW dept. Good picture quality! Stay safe. Bob

Yeah this one kind of puzzles me... They stuck the microphone in the center of the cable inside some little plastic housing... It's in a really inconvenient place. The upside is that it has an external microphone input on the back of the recorder so I have a feeling the eventual fix will be making an external and placing it where it sounds the best.

While I kind of like the position because it is easy to see things like road signs and the suggested speeds for the corners, I think I like the low angle with the front wheel in the shot. Need to put a protective cover over the camera first, and they don't really sell this cover so I'll need to make my own. Their mounts also suck for what I'm trying to do so I ended up cutting some acetal to provide a 1/4-20 mount. I also made an adapter to use the GoPro mounts that I have around from the dead camera. Need to do a little work on the aluminum of these mounts to fine tune their fit. My poor mill needs new bearings and I have a feeling I'm going to grind them into dust before I take the time to pull it apart and fix them.

Need to move it farther outside so less wheel and more road, this will help with the metering to get better exposure of the road areas. Still need to fix the wind noise. It was mounted with one of the oil cooler mounts and a small ball head similar to how I've mounted the GoPro when it still worked.

Trimmed with Windows Live movie maker, so it might not be 1280x720 anymore.

Scratch that last one, seem Youtube barfed part way through, I'll add another link when I figure out what happened.
