I have discovered that after eating a large plate of fried okra, countersteering becomes more effective.

The question is which strain of okra produces the best effect.

Is Fried okra more effective than boiled okra? Is okra diluted in gumbo less effective, or does the combination add to the equation?

Note: This silly thread is for relief from the heavy political stuff lately : )

Ooooh!! A chance to EXPERIMENT!! Need to set up the "Test Sites" and do a few trial runs before jumping to any conclusions.

While you southern purist may prefer your okra battered with cornmeal and fired in lard, we new-age California types use canola oil and panko crumbs. A mixture of soy sauce and mayonnaise, with just a hint of wasabi, makes a good dipping sauce.
Just kidding.

I've never tried okra but if it makes me better at countersteering I'll give it a try.

As far a counter steering goes, the okra may not be much of a factor as one might think. Some buddies and I did a study years back, primarily on elder female family members. They were easiest to study because they cared less about when they broke wind, they moved slower so were easier to follow, and they were creatures of habit.

We would count the times they would lean left or right when they farted(elder women always rock up on one cheek or the other). Our findings led to a tie. It seemed the most important factor was which side Grand-pa was sitting on, and how she was feeling about him at the moment.

This was not a true scientific study, but an important one to a group of Cub Scouts. No actual okra was eaten during this study.

Okra promotes counter-steering, and it grows point-up? I had no idea...

That can't be true. I have no problem with counter steering and I will not eat okra

When the clerk steers you towards the counter with the more expensive okra.

Gots 2 okra plants growing- I'll compare the one on the right against the one on the left and get back to youn's.

(Someone post pics/vids of a bike with an okra pod fastened with a rubber band on each side of the handlebars, maybe we can figger this out.)

That's just because you run full synthetic okra, and flat spotted your roller bearings.

Last weekend, Ferris and I were reliving our ride across WI on the FBRAT ride a few years back and okra came up... I have it from time to time here, it's pretty well expected. Every crunchy and snotty bite reminds me of that trip and DaveS...

OK, some early test reports are in. I had some fried okra for dinner and went on a couple of test rides.

Okra has a much more dramatic effect on the countersteering of my scooter than on my XB. The slightest input on the scoot resulted in instant reaction. The XB reacts more slowly.

This leads me to believe the "Okra Effect" is in some subatomic level related to mass and velocity vectors, or like DiLithium crystals it may exert forces in the 4th dimension.

There however exists the possibility that the "Okra Effect" is short lived, and was simply wearing off by the time I rode the XB.

The rides did however reveal the possibility of getting a grant to research a phenomenon that occurs while riding a scooter at high velocity through parking lots and sidewalks. I will call that one the "Geico WHEEEEE!!!" effect.

Is there a breakfast okra recipe???

Mathematically, as tire size approaches the consumed okra's cross sectional diameter, the Okra Effect approaches infinity.

So it only stands to reason that the effect is more pronounced with your scooter.

Of the five forces in nature (gravity, electromagnetism, strong force, weak force, and Okra) Okra is just slightly stronger than gravity. If you could develop a tire for your Buell that is smaller than a slice of Okra, your bike could achieve flight.

Now I'm wondering if okra pickles produce the same effect.

Only one way to find out...

I was looking for that stuff at the local hot pepper emporium. They seemed to have every other vegetable pickled with hot peppers BUT okra.

Oh the humanity!!

OKRA Effect is short lived.

Perhaps it dwells in the space-time continuem.

Actually okra pickles are a poor substitute for the original "hot crisp pickled okra."Seeing as they are pickles first(even though the word pickles comes second)instead of okra that is pickled they come in second place but are still better than fried okra. This is because the counter steering effect lasts longer.Everyone knows pickled matter of any sort lasts longer than fried matter and the"hot"variety makes one a bit quicker at the track. This works especially well if you want to run the slower turning but more stable Pirellis.HTH

Hmmm...

I'll have enough okra to pickle this year, PLENTY of jalapenos...

Might be able to conquer entropy!
