Today is "Good Friday," so like all good Catholics <cough> I had a meatless lunch. This is "Bindi Bhajee," or Indian stewed okra. I was thinking of you all while I ate.

That looks pretty tasty. I have to admit that I've never had Okra, but if it tastes half as good as that looks, I'm willing to try it. |

Crusty, it was VERY tasty. It is a very basic curry (non-spicy). The okra is stewed in it with tomatoes and onions. In the upper right hand corner is a basket of cheese nan, which is kinda like an Indian quesadilla... bread stuffed with melted cheese. I'm rather full right now. |

By the way, that basket in the upper right hand corner is filled with "Cheese Nan." Think: "Indian Quesadillas" and you'd be right on track. Warm nan bread filled with melted cheese. |

Fried oysters is good. Had stir-fried shrimp and veggies for dinner. No okra, alas. |

Gots me 2, yes 2 Okra plants in the garden as of this past week... WOOHOO!! Best yet: Cut, soaked in pickled jalapeno pepper vinegar (homemade, natch), lightly seasoned cornmeal, breaded (may try panko crumbs sometime), and fried!

It's not a spicy dish, in that it doesn't burn. But it is a very flavorful dish. The bowels are just fine this morning. |

Okra is a Republican vegetable. Soy beans are marxist. |

I know a few vegetables who vote Republican. I also know a few vegetables who vote Democrat. |

The quality of a good vindaloo is measured by the size of the electric fan you bring with you to the bathroom in the morning. |

Gots me 2, yes 2 Okra plants in the garden as of this past week... Ya might just be a might bit early there. Okra loves the earth to be really really warm. I've got 35 ready to be planted, I'm just going to wait another week or so before I put 'em out.

Moxnix: I find soaking the toilet paper in Novacaine and storing it in the refrigerator the night before helps too... |

I'll write that down. Still, if the meal includes cinnamon, tumeric, ginger, saffron and chili peppers, it's worth the next day's episode. Salamet po. |

OKRA is SATAN's own food! How dare you blaspheme? This could have been a decent discussion on meatless dinners but Jaime, you had to drag it down, didn't you? OKRA. CUSTODIAN!!! BAN HIM! |

Court... I'm losing faith, confidence and trust in ya! Green garden slugs with seeds. Breaded and fried means you're only covering up the taste and texture of the green slime. You Okrans are a crazy cult, I'm tellin' ya! |
