I believe Ryca offers volume discounts. Tell them you want to buy 15 kits and I'll bet they will be happy to negotiate with you.

Discounts kick in from them for builders after you have bought your first kit. No idea what discount they offer.

yeah, i saw that, but it doesn't say how much. may only be 100.00????

i imagine a lot of the parts (speedo, shocks, lights, etc) could be sourced independently.

Sleez, "i imagine a lot of the parts (speedo, shocks, lights, etc) could be sourced independently."

Very true, and surprising how fast those "simple" items add up. And if utilizing an older donor bike how hard stock parts are to find. Many builders to stay away from that simply put a cafe seat on a stocker and call it a cafe racer. And thats OK if thats what you want; I wanted something different/special.

Bob,

Like your CR!

Best part about Bob's bike is that it is NOT a bought kit. He built it. Requirement for it to be a proper CR in the first place. IMHO of course. Pics of mine when it gets closer to being finished.

the scrambler looks pretty good.

I don't like the stock bike at all. the cafe racer and the scrambler sure helps it.

They are at it again,
This time a street tracker, and their header banner looks like they want to do a hard tail bobber too.

Pretty versatile format - the UJM lives

I've been keeping an eye on the price of Savages and S40's and I've come to a conclusion.... All Savage owners are on serious drugs. On average you can get a newer S40 for the same or less money than people are asking for an older Savage.

I'm also pretty sure the Blast owners have taken to many drugs as the prices are pretty stupid compared to the price when it was new.

All that said I have not found those elusive $500 cycles that make perfect projects.

I see nothing that could not also be done to a DR 650.... (at least for the scrambler and street tracker)

Hell I think most owners of everything are smoking something. I've seen old Firebolts on sale here in the classifieds for more than a 09 is worth.

Froggy,

You should check out a nice wide search on Craigslist and see what it turns up. The XB are almost reasonable (almost), but when I'm seeing stock 03 Blasts for $3000 or more I have to wonder just what that person is taking.

I guess people are trying to capitalize on the season and hope they find a desperate enough person who will just go ahead and waste the money.

Yea I agree. I picked up an 08 XT for not much more than that. I got my 03 Blast for $1500, and that was several years ago. One of my buddies got a 08 Blast last year for less than $3k too, but there are plenty of people out there that want the ridiculous amount of cash for their rides.

That's because you're not in the know!
Are you tired of missing out on those smokin' deals that everybody talks about?
Well I'm here to tell you that there's a way to beat the system & snatch up those juicy bargains.
My name's Noall Gobshite, & I've been grabbing low price stuff for decades.
How do I do it? I hear you ask. Well if you send me a plain brown envelope stuffed with money I'll let you in on a lifetime's experience, & if you're not completely satisfied within 3 days, I'll send you back your envelope.

Who can say fairer than that?

Seriously though, I do quite a bit of vehicle buying & selling.

Different models sell better or worse in different markets, for many reasons.

When I'm selling, I always put a stupid high price on the ad at first, because you never know it may just be exactly what somebody with more money than time is looking for & is prepared to pay over the odds.

When I'm buying I spend a lot of time on the web browsing the ad sites to see what's selling where & for how much.

Sometimes you can pick up a bargain because of an undeserved bad rep. Sometimes a really successful dealer has sold so many new into his local market that used prices are locally depressed.
You have to do your research & be ready to move, a wedge of cash in your pocket helps negotiating a price, don't be scared to go & see a bike & make a lowball offer with cash in your hand, the worst that's likely to happen is the seller tells you to f*** off.
Often you can up your offer just a little to seal the deal.
Always check the date of insertion of the ad, if it's been hanging around a while, chances are the haggling margin will be bigger.
BUT, don't pay more than it's worth to you.
Note I said "to you" because book price is just that, a guide price, not gospel.
If you're not sure or it doesn't feel right leave it, don't feel that you have to buy just because you went to look.
