This admin. has daily meetings with the "media" to make their message the ONE thing that all speak.

While I don't get to go to these meetings, I'll bet you that this whole thing is deliberate so we don't bitch about the coal fired power plants closing because of CO2 regulations that Congress did not approve, leading to higher energy costs. So, of course we can grow algae. Or was that Unicorn farts?

They are now ruling without Congress as much as they can, which is more than they are supposed to. This is what to expect from people that find the Constitution an impediment to doing what ever they want.

Oddly enough, they are right, that is the Constitution's purpose. To keep them from doing whatever they want.

7 California boys arrested in attack on teen

So 7 black teens attack a Hispanic teen while making "racially derogatory statements". Coincidence? I don't really think so.

This is what happens when you constantly teach hate and envy. Where will this end? I really don't know. In some countries it manages to escalate into mass slaughter of it's people. I know many have a "it can't happen here" believe, but I think that is a false sense of security. We have an administration right now that is willing to use this as a lever to help them gain more power. That is a very dangerous thing that will not ultimately serve the minority people well at all. As a country it will be devastating. We need to condemn racism in all forms. We need to condemn all forms of bigotry. Class warfare is no better than race warfare. It's time to stop fomenting the hatred.

I freaking hate the media. All of them. especially when they try to pride themselves as heroes. Eff them. They all want to be pulitzer prize winners... all wanna ask that question... be the "star" reporter. Eff them. Especially that Matt Lauwer guy or whatever the eff his name is spelled. I freaking hate that guy. I have yet to make my "People_whom_I_would_love_to_punch_in_the_face.com " website... He would be in the top 10.

You have to scan between all the cable news to get a half decent perspective and even then it is not enough. I do like local news,... it is refreshing most of the time compared to cable news because THEY DO THEIR JOB, THEY JUST REPORT THE NEWS and Quickly too. They rarely show any personal opinions.

Having stopped watching TV news, avoiding talk radio, not getting a newspaper, and not opening Drudge until late evening, it's been rather easy to stay at arm's length from the debacle. This came in an email from an economic newsletter today. I have no opinion.

Gary Gibson, Minneapolis, Minnesota...

Trayvon Martin had it coming.

We read those words to that effect from an article linked to by a libertarian website we visit very regularly.

"In Zimmerman's case, Martin was an athletic six-foot-two-inch tall football player that had him on his back pounding on him. Martin got what he deserved."

So wrote Paul Huebl, a former Chicago cop and proud member of the Screen Actors Guild.

We've tried to avoid having to write anything publicly about the shooting of Trayvon Martin. But we feel we must let our thoughts be known, if only in passing...

You see, dear patron, we spent a few years of our adolescence in the Central Florida town just south of where Trayvon was killed. We have some experience with being Black in that corner of the world.

Further, the public voices who dwell close to our philosophical sphere seem to be saying some questionable things in their rush to defend gun ownership and denounce sleazy race-baiters like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

Like Thomas Sowell, the black conservative and intellectual who agreed with Geraldo Rivera's advice to black and Hispanic youth to not dress to look so threatening.

First a few things about that part of Florida...

Like Caesar's Gaul, Florida is divided into three unofficial parts...

South Florida as centered around the Miami-Dade metro area is essentially a continental Latin and Caribbean colony.

Central Florida is dominated of course by Orlando. It's a bloodless and its claim to fame is a tourist trap ruled over by a mouse created by a Nazi-sympathizer.

People often say that Florida isn't really "The South". And they're right. But North Florida isn't really part of Florida as much as it is the southernmost region of Georgia.

Once you head north of Orlando, the descendants of Castro-generated refugees and Jewish retirees become a distant spectacle. Much more immediate are the Confederate flags, monster trucks and occasional white supremacist tattoo.

Geneva, Florida, is just a few miles north of Orlando and a few miles east of Sanford, Florida, where George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin to death.

Through a series of crises and accidents your editor came to spend his early teen years as a resident of Geneva. The town is home to just a couple thousand souls or so. The downtown has a section full of older homes, a section of newer tract homes (where your editor lived), three churches, an elementary school, a couple of gas stations, one post office, one feed store and one stoplight.

The rest of the place is a smattering of multi-acre properties, dirt roads and swamp.

While Sanford is east of Geneva, Oviedo, FL, is just south and to the west. Oviedo is a very nice, suburb of Orlando. It made at least one "100 Best to Live in the U.S." list one year. The road from Oviedo becomes Geneva's First Street. There is a specific moment as you travel along that road that you sense you've crossed some ethereal veil. It happens within a second or two of leaving the "Welcome to Oviedo" sign behind.

The new, colorful subdivisions stop abruptly. Wide open pasture dotted takes their place. Tiny herds of cattle and the occasional horse or two alternate with lone houses in big fields as you drive along.

You notice more pickup trucks, quite a few of them on giant tires. The few other cars you see on the two-lane road move more aggressively.

Twenty years ago when your editor's mother bought one of those newer tract homes, one of the neighbors painted "NO NIGER" in huge red letters on her garage door. We assume he meant "NO NIGGER", but we also assume it was also dark when he wrote it and he lost track of how many g's he'd already written.

A few months later someone left a pathetic attempt at a chemical bomb on the front porch of our family's house. Our mother called the sheriff. The deputies told her that had the bomb worked, it might have killed her.

That was all over twenty years ago. But just a few years ago the brother of the other black Caribbean family in town was carrying his young son on his shoulders when he was run over by one of our neighbors.

The brother and his son survived with only minimal injury. The neighbor went to jail for a long time. The attack was racially motivated.

Back in January, 2010 we were visiting the old homestead, we were accidentally hit by a speeding truck as we walked along the road just beyond our mother's house. The hit was surely accidental. It was the response of everyone involved that made us mad. And reminded us what the life of a black man is worth in that town.

The asked us angrily what we were doing "in the middle of the road" as we lay moaning on the lawn where we'd landed. The owner of the home also seemed mad that we had landed on his lawn and created trouble for the driver. Once we recovered our senses and realized that we were neither dead nor crippled, a fight very nearly ensued.

To heap even more insult to our relatively minor injuries, the emergency crew who came out (at our mother's insistence, not our own) seemed annoyed at us, too.

We never lived in neighboring Sanford itself. But we spent an awful lot of time there. On the way to the city itself from Geneva, there is a little "Chocolate Village” called appropriately enough Midway. A poor black neighborhood in the middle of nowhere. Out of the 1700 or so people who live there 1600 are black while only a few dozen are white.

Sanford itself is a much bigger town with over 50,000 residents. Over half of those are white and a little less than a third black. The black population is largely concentrated in the Goldsborough neighborhood.

Sanford's neck isn't quite as red as Geneva's, but the there is still that uniquely Southern flavor of black-white tension on the air. Your editor can taste it every time he lands at Orlando International Airport. It increases the farther north you go from the airport and from Orlando. You could choke on it in Geneva. It's not as bad in Sanford, but it's still there.

Here's an anecdote not from personal experience, but culled from the Wikipedia page on Sanford:

"On October 23, 1945, the Brooklyn Dodgers announced that they had signed Jackie Robinson assigning him to their International League team, the Montreal Royals.

"Branch Rickey, Brooklyn Dodgers General Manager believing he 'knew' Florida, thought his team could train there ruffling as few feathers as possible. Robinson and his wife were instructed by Rickey not to try to stay at any Sanford hotels. He and his wife didn't eat out at any restaurants not deemed 'Negro restaurants.' He didn't even dress in the same locker room as his teammates.

"As soon as the citizenry became aware of Robinson's presence, the mayor of Sanford was confronted by a 'large group of white residents' who 'demanded that Robinson...be run out of town.'

"On March 5th, 1946, the Royals were informed that they would not be permitted to take the field as an integrated group. Rickey was concerned for Robinson's life and sent him to stay in Daytona Beach. His daughter, Sharon Robinson, remembered being told, 'The Robinsons were run out of Sanford, Florida, with threats of violence.'"

"In his 1993 book, 'A Hard Road to Glory: A History Of The African American Athlete: Baseball' tennis great Arthur Ashe wrote in response, Rickey 'moved the entire Dodger pre-season camp from Sanford, Florida, to Daytona Beach due to the oppressive conditions of Sanford.'"
Source

We share these anecdotes so you understand our bias. Black life doesn't hold so much value in the region Trayvon was killed. And we sadly report that it doesn't have much value in the eyes of people with whom we tend to agree on other things like liberty and the right to bear arms.

It saddens us to be on the side of the national healthcare types on this one. Even if Trayvon got violent with Zimmerman...even if Zimmerman was getting the worst of it in a scuffle...he was the aggressor. He gave Trayvon reason to feel the need to defend himself. Zimmerman was the one "acting suspiciously."

(Zimmerman also strikes us a low-IQ thug who admired authoritarian power and made up for his inadequacies by carrying a gun. But we don't know the man personally and could be wrong.)

Lest you get us wrong, we believe in the right to bear arms to be as essential as the right to own property and to do as you will with your own body. We also believe in the absolute right to self defense and to stop violence toward your person and property with force.

But that doesn't mean you get to create the situation in which you have to defend yourself.

Had Trayvon or any other black man behaved as Zimmerman had toward a white person...if a white man had been beating on then been shot by a black man who had been shadowing him...That is to say, if the races of the actors had been reversed, then the gun rights crowd would be singing the opposite tune.

They would have decried the black man for stalking the white man in the first place. They would have cheered the white man for pummeling his black stalker. They would have called for justice for the fallen white man and for the imprisonment and even death of the black shooter.

We write none of this to accuse or even to lament. We merely give you the reality of the racial situation in the area, along with an interpretation of the events born of having lived there.

We also write this as a warning.

Racial tension is still very real in this country. Racial violence and race-based urban riots are as imminent a threat as war with Iran...or the collapse of the currency...

We've warned before that proximity to pockets of welfare-dependence should be a serious consideration for anyone preparing for the "fat tail" events we write about. Sadly, urban welfare society is correlated strongly with race. And human relationships tend to fracture along ethnic lines when times get very hard.

If you're going to stick around in the U.S. as times get more interesting, then make sure you arm yourself with the best information you possibly can to stay out of trouble's way.

If it bleeds it leads in the news trades. Zimmerman is unlikely to ever find a fair trial after the past week's performance by print and broadcast hatchet wielders. Condemned by a media of people who haven't a fair bone in their narcissistic bodies. They are the story as much as the tragic circumstance the players and their families are experiencing.

Back when car jacking first came into fashion, I had one of those old style cup holders that fit into a vehicle window, sliding a flat plate between glass and inner door panel. Thought to myself, well, a bit of fiddling in the garage and hello, what's this, a place to carry a loaded gun with the barrel pointing toward any unexpected surprise. Never needed it. Still, it's nice to have the proper kit in an emergency.

This is also posted in "President 0" as it mostly is an indictment of The Community Organizer In Chief. Enjoy.

"Beware of the Mob" by Victor Davis Hansen

quote:

The Trayvon Martin tragedy is not over. We do not know all the facts; bad judgment, racism, and ill-intent may well have led to manslaughter or even second-degree murder or, then again, in theory, self-defense, but to speculate about any such charges without evidence is to become mob-like. My own view is that carrying a weapon requires greater forbearance, but I was not there and still have no idea what transpired. As I write this, the account will be out-of-date by tomorrow’s disclosures. What we are left with are no rules of national anguish: When ten African-Americans are murdered by other African-Americans in a single weekend, is it news or not news? When the occasional African-American murders a white person, as in a recent car-jacking, is it a sign of something the nation must note? When an Hispanic shoots an African-American, is it news to the degree he has a European name, but had he been Jorge Martinez with an Anglo mother, it would not have been news?

The role of a president is to rein in the mob, not to unleash it. The latter is what community organizers do; the former is what makes statesmen. Yet on issue after issue — anti-terrorism, global warming, government ethics, and racial relations — a frenzied mob, egged on by the media and demagogues like Barack Obama, have almost stormed the jail, only to dissipate when met by either evidence, or the knowledge that the incarcerated was one of their own — as if they had never screamed and threatened in the first place.

Beware of the Mob

Some forensic audio folks say the cries for help on the recordings are definitely NOT Zimmerman. The yells probably happened when they had a struggle for the gun after the punch and head slam happened.

Interesting article about that. At trial I have no doubt that one side would have and expert witness saying it's not Zimmerman. The other side would have an equally well established expert witness saying it is Zimmerman. So it goes with expert witnesses.

This is where I put the most credibility in what is known fact. Cross check that with witnesses. Cross check that with the experts that make their living offering a paid opinion under oath.

I see a couple of problems with this expert who says it's not Zimmerman. First off there is no way to compare the probability that the voice belongs to Martin using the same sort of analysis. A similar analysis could show it to be even less likely to be Martin. That isn't being done though. I would want to hear about those results though. Secondly, I'd like to know how precise his techniques are at identifying a voice. Under similar conditions, where you compare a calm voice to someone screaming for help in fear for their life. Most importantly though, his expert opinion is in direct conflict with an independent witness who saw the event take place. This witness identified the person in red (Zimmerman) being beaten by the one in black (Martin) while the screaming was taking place. It just makes no sense that Martin would be screaming for help as he was beating Zimmerman's head against the ground. Cross check this witness with other witnesses that only heard the event and you find a good correlation with what each was able to observe. Cross check all of that with the 911 tape and it all fits well with Martin becoming the aggressor rather than victim as the events unfolded. That of course is speculation, but it makes much more sense than Zimmerman heading back out to hunt down Martin to kill him in cold blood as has been alleged when he know that the police are going to show up in a very short time.

Keep in mind too that the witnesses when interviewed at the scene without any prejudiced of hearing the story firs as a white guy from a gated community shooting a young black kid who was only armed with skittles and iced tea. The "expert" almost certainly had an opinion formed by the media before he ever formed his "expert opinion".

Perhaps O. & Ayers can choose which 25MM get snuffed for justice.

I ask again, have any of the R candidates spoken foolishly and with intent to stir up hatred in this case?

If so please post a link so I know who to vote against.

I don't get to vote for the mayor of Philadelphia who I am told called this an assassination.

Since I can't afford to give massive donations to Obama, I fear I have zero chance of influencing him.

I don't have a thing to do to, for or against with the "reverends" who call for mobs to peacefully protest against injustice....... I sorta missed hearing the "Reverends" speak... I'm sure they called for restraint and patience in getting the facts before making judgment. Didn't they?

So I need to know which of the R candidates {people I have little respect for despite their success is accumulating wealth ) has spoken out of turn, has called for riots and hatred.

THEM I have a tiny, infinitesimal chance of influencing. If only for voting against them, and telling others of their evil.

He who preaches envy and hate, is evil.

Please help this working Joe who hasn't the time or energy to watch the "news" shows.

Thank you.

Vile merchants of lies and bigotry...

NBC to do ‘internal investigation’ on Zimmerman segment

Editing the 911 call to make Zimmerman sound like a racist is beyond despicable. The first 911 tape I heard they stopped the tape right after he said he was chasing Martin so you didn't find out that he was returning to his vehicle. I don't remember the source of that version. We have reached a point where our media has turned into nothing but activists for their own beliefs.

The media was meant to be the watchdogs of our government. They are now the lapdogs of liberal philosophy. This WILL end badly if not changed.

So his neighbor has now come out to verify that the next day he was bandaged up the day after this happened. He also claims that the cries for help on the 911 tape sound like Zimmerman. We also have Martin's father saying it wasn't his son making those cries for help.

I find it sad that this person has had to PROVE he is innocent in the court of public opinion like this, against lying scumbags and a complicit media. I guess the fact that the local DA didn't find cause to charge him after examining the facts and the old fashioned idea of being innocent until proven guilty just don't matter. Zimmerman is very fortunate that there is the 911 call that backs his story. Without that I have little doubt that ginned up public sentiment would have ruled the day and Zimmerman would have wound up in jail or worse. Worse may still happen to him too. How many will have blood on their hands if that happens?

You can place much of the blame on the Florida PD.

They should have arrested him. Had they the outcry for this would have been minimal.

He killed another man. You arrest him examine the evidance if it looks legit you drop the charges if not you go to the grand jury.

If these steps are taken we wouldn't be in this situation which is as follows.

BS from the left
BS from the right.
the truth obscured as a result
and the public pissed on both sides.

They did arrest him. That's what happens when they slap the cuffs on you and take you in. We have seen the video that proves that. It was at the police station where a higher up who had access to evidence not available to the officers in the field made the correct decision not to charge him. That is how the system is supposed to work.

Do you at this point really doubt his innocence?

Have you actually listened to the actual 911 call? Not an edited version?

Have you read the police report? http://www.sanfordfl.gov/investigation/docs/Twin%2 0Lakes%20Shooting%20Initial%20Report.pdf

I invite you to do so before foolishly embracing the outcry of releasing a man who simply defended himself.

Can you point to the BS from the right on this? There's an abundance of it from the left. NBC editing the 911 call to make Zimmerman sound like race was the reason he felt Martin was suspicious is outrageous. Please let us know who is doing anything similar on the other side.

>>> They should have arrested him.

In political hindsight, maybe so, but an arrest warrant requires that a crime be named and prosecutable. If no crime is indicated, or if no case exists to prosecute it, then why on earth would competent folks working in law enforcement arrest a person??? That kind of treatment is what certain minorities are always bemoaning, the biased view of guilty unless proved innocent. That would be incredibly bad police work and/or DA work. The man was handcuffed, detained, and questioned on the evening of the incident.

Andy,

Sifo has a point. The overwhelming cacophony is coming from the Left. This is reminiscent of the Duke Lacrosse Scandal where the Left went suddenly silent after the facts came out. No matter that reputations were destroyed. It appears to be a fact that Senor Zimmerman is not a racist but this does not help the Left's narrative.

Did you read the articles that I linked to? What do you think about them?

But he did let Martin go away. There is no doubt of that listening to the 911 tape.
