Dropped the XB yesterday, foot slipped on gravel when I stopped to admire a view. Doh! End result, scraped frame puck and axle sliders, broken front indicator & worst of all right footpeg snapped. I've already replaced the indicator as I have a spare set I picked up in a dealer firesale. I've repaired the peg by the simple expedient of drilling & tapping & passing a long bolt to hold both bits tight together. So I'm on the look out for either another stock peg part# N0521.1AD or a pair of something else to replace both. I was wondering if there's better, more comfortable alternatives, maybe with a bigger drop. Would Uly ones fit? The only aftermarket pegs I've seen are the Knight ones. Bear in mind I'm in France, a new peg from the stealer's is over $50 inc taxes. So it may be sensible to upgrade with parts direct from the US. What do you know? |

We put Precision Engineering Uly pegs on my Ex's Ss, and she loved them. They were pretty reasonably priced, as well. I did have to use 1/8" thick washers when mounting the pegs; the Uly pegs are a little narrower at the mounting point than the Lightning pegs. But they've been on the bike for many thousand miles and she still loves them. Here's a link: http://www.preeng.com/xcart/product.php?productid= 27&cat=8&page=2 |

Nice? A little bit on the large side for me. If I wanted foot boards I'd be riding a FXPLTSFZ Lard King Boy limited edition in "Dangerous Blakk". I'm not sure what percentage of nice I have to add as sales tax either. The Knight ones are getting on 3 times as nice. But they're much more to my taste. I'll probably stay with stock though. Just been checking online, a pair of pegs in the Rider Footpeg kit # N0006.1AD is only a little over 30 bucks (more than double that here) so makes sense for me to get that. I'll have to get somebody to pick me up a set & post them as HD no longer allow their dealers to sell outside their home market. Talk about restrictive trade practices, grrrr. |

Try: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/16066.html for a longer-term solution, makes it able to swap out with other, cheaper pegs, as I read it. Not sure if US-based HD dealers will still ship internationally, but Al would, I'm sure. |

Al's good peeps, no probs getting stuff from him, just stealerships. That's not a bad idea at all, I could do both bikes to have compatability. Doh, now you've got me spending even more money! |
