So the police officer says to me "Sir, you have a headlight out" How many times have you heard THAT one? He then looked at me and said "I know how Buells are, you have NO lights" !?!? Damn $10.00 bulb had died on the way to work. High beam did work so there's that.

Always thought it'd be for running over 100 or reckless riding so something. ( Not that would EVER I do any such thing )

At least I didn't get a ticket just a friendly "Fix that today OK?" out of it.

Better that than to discover it at night. And you didn't get a ticket, so "win/win!"

Last summer after I left Wall Drug and continued heading west I passed a long line of Harleys (I was on my K1200LT). As I passed the lead bike, the rider looked at me, then leaned way over his bike and pointed to his headlight. Damn... I knew what THAT meant. I waved to thank him, then stopped at the next truck stop to get a replacement H7 bulb...

Riding to Daytona last year, I was following a semi down I95. One of those ones with the quilted chrome back doors.

No reflection from my headlight.

Hm...no wonder I've been getting cut off so much on this trip! Stopped at a gas station - in the POURING ASS RAIN - and pulled the high beam bulb out, and moved it to the low socket. I'd have just driven with my highs on, but I have the aux lights wired to the brights and didn't particularly want to blind everyone in SC, GA, and FL on my way down.

I made a lot of intelligence contacts over the years coming from stopping vehicles for minor equipment violations that resulted in just a warning. It's good policing IMHO or as Jaimec says "win-win".

Good on him.

Nice and easy there. My friend just got arrested and put in jail for eluding the police at a whopping 35 mph. he didn't see the police behind him and the cop straight took him to jail!! he tried to explain that he didn't hear or see the police behind him. he even slowed down to let a van turn right in front of him. The cop said bullshit and locked him up and impounded his bike.

I got pulled over 4 times in one night for a burned out running rear amber light.
4 different jurisdictions
Took me an hour to do 15 miles of 'travel'

no ticket from any of them - but damnit !

after the second stop, I'd have unplugged the one working amber light. If they're both out...where's the tip-off they should be on?

Just sayin'.
