Bill Maher just donated $1,000,000 dollars to Mr. Obama to help him get reelected.

Mr. Maher said Rush Limbaugh is an "as-hole" and "a stupid fat f--k." He also has this to say:

I guess it's only funny when he says it.

Mr. Obama: How can you accept this contribution with a good conscious, or tell the American public you give a rat's ass about respect and decency?

March 7, 2012

As recently as March 1st Bill Burton, cofounder of Priorities USA Action SuperPAC, was promoting the views of a donor who referred to women in violent, hateful and derogatory ways. Today, we call on Mr. Burton to follow President Obama's lead and reject this language and messenger. Please see full text of the letter below.

******************

Dear Mr. Burton:

Having watched President Obama’s press conference yesterday afternoon we find ourselves in agreement with him regarding the inflammatory issues that have arisen in the media. We are sure we can all agree we have arrived at what the President might call a "teachable moment".

We were pleased to see Rush Limbaugh apologize for his incredibly unkind and insensitive remarks towards women during his recent radio broadcast. These types of remarks towards women have no place in public discourse – they are wrong, and offensive.

It was an important gesture that President Obama approved the time in his schedule to place a call to the woman to whom the offensive remarks were directed. As parents of daughters ourselves, we were proud when we heard him say he took a personal stand on this issue with the hopes of always allowing his daughters the ability to have their own beliefs in the future. President Obama said, "One of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on."

President Obama has categorically condemned this sort of language against any woman. We are calling on you today to put the President's words to action by condemning the equally egregious and despicable behavior of HBO talk show host Bill Maher. Mr. Maher has a history of attacking women and recently attacked a host of women including a specifically violent attack at one woman who regularly, as the President says, “engages in the issues she cares about” and is a mother of three daughters and grandmother.

Mr. Maher, who disagrees with Sarah Palin's politics, has called her a litany of adjectives inappropriate to repeat in any setting and are of the most derogatory of terms reserved for only violent verbal hate crimes against women. We understand that he has donated $1 million dollars of his personal money paid to him through various businesses that thrive on the ratings of his hate speech to your Priorities USA Action to aid in your efforts to re-elect President Obama.

President Obama eloquently stated today in his press conference that, "all decent folks can agree that the remarks that were made don't have any place in the public discourse.”

We are certain you agree with him, as do we that these types of remarks have no place in our society and the people that unapologetically make them must not be allowed to purchase a seat at the table of public discourse. Therefore, we are calling on Priorities USA Action and you to live up to the standard set by President Obama and take Mr. Maher’s million dollars and pay it forward.

Prove to American’s that your group is run by “decent folks” that President Obama speaks of. Donate this money to a charity of your choosing that focuses on supporting abused women and children.

We look forward to your action and joining with the President in ending hate speech against women.

Respectfully,

Teri Christoph, Co-Chair of ShePAC
Suzanne Haik Terrell, Co-Chair of ShePAC
Tim Crawford, Treasurer of ShePAC

Bill Burton: "Bill Maher? It's OK, he's a comedian." Emphasis mine. -- FB

quote:

3/8/2012 | FoxNation.com

President Obama SuperPAC founder Bill Burton went on MSNBC today to talk about the President's new campaign ad. Host Andrea Mitchell asked Burton if his SuperPAC was going to return comedian Bill Maher's million dollar contribution after the media frenzy stemming from Rush Limbaugh's slut comments.

Burton called it "crazy" to equate Rush Limbaugh with Bill Maher.

Relevant Transcript:

Andrea Mitchell: “There’s been a suggestion that you should return the million-dollar contribution from Bill Maher, that if liberals are going to go after Rush Limbaugh for the outrageous things that he said about Sandra Fluke, that you should return the contribution from Bill Maher because of things that he has said about Sarah Palin.”

Bill Burton: “The notion that there’s an equivalence between what a comedian has said over the course of his career and what the de facto leader of the Republican Party said – to sexually degrade a woman who engaged in an important debate of our time – is crazy. There is just no similarity between what Rush Limbaugh said – lying about the argument that Miss Fluke was making, a student at Georgetown – and what a comedian has said in the past.”

Unbelievable. And if anyone thinks Rush Limbaugh is the "leader of the republican party", they have been drinking way too much of their own liberal cool aide.

This really chaps my hide. Not the hypocrisy of the progressives, but the superpac part. Contributions to a candidate are supposed to be limited to help prevent corruption in government. No limits on superpacs though, but superpacs are supposed to be about issues and not specific candidates. So despite these rules we have unlimited donations going to a superpac that is openly supporting Obama. There isn't even feigning any denial of this blatant corruption of the current campaign finance laws. They can do so with full confidence that the DOJ will never go after them as long as they are successful in subverting the rule of law. I've become fairly convinced in recent years that progressives do in fact hate the entire Constitution, not just select parts of it. I expect the corruption in the 2012 election to reach levels of corruption not seen in US history.

It's interesting (but not surprising) to me that "Game Change" was produced by HBO (and, sadly, Tom Hanks). Clever timing, releasing the movie in the run-up to the upcoming election. Are they trying to smear Sarah Palin "in advance," just in case she gets another VP nod?

Mr. Obama is certainly calling in all his markers on this election...

Mr. Maher, in his typical vulgar, left-sided style, is now taking on Rick Santorum and the fact his kids are home-schooled:

quote:

"But I bring up the old tale of the poisoned apple -- no, not "Snow White," that's a fairy tale - because the Adam and Eve story is taken literally by half the country and it's no coincidence that the type of tree which god forbade Adam and Eve eating from was the Tree of Knowledge. Rick Santorum homeschools his children because he does not want them eating that f--king apple. He wants them locked up in the Christian madrassa that is the family living room not out in public where they could be infected by the virus of reason. If you're a kid and the only adults you've ever met are mom and dad, and then they're also the smartest adults you've met, why not keep it that way? Why mess up paradise with a lot knowledge? After all, a mind is a terrible thing to open."

It's of course not at all surprising that besides his anti-religious bigotry, Maher believes homeschoolers receive less of an education than those in public schools.

Nothing can be further from the truth.

The 2009 Homeschool Progress Report found "homeschoolers scored 34–39 percentile points higher than the norm on standardized achievement tests. The homeschool national average ranged from the 84th percentile for Language, Math, and Social Studies to the 89th percentile for Reading."

The average is 50.

Homeschoolers also score higher on the popular college entrance exam ACT.

Why the indignity?
Bill Maher is an Irrelevant prick who thinks he's funny. so Who Cares,

These folks are sooooo full of them selves
( and the right has their own too )

In the hot sun of reason BOTH sugar and $hit draw flies....

Who needs Tom Hanks to help decide issues,
If america were smart they would turn off the tube and do some reading..

so Who Cares

Oldog, I think you know this, but I started this thread to point out the hypocrisy of the Left. They're milking Rush Limbaugh for all he's worth, yet not only condone Bill Maher's vileness, but gladly accepted $1,000,000 from him.

Where's the public outcry from the left over Mr. Maher's brutal, cruel vulgarity? All I hear is crickets...

If america were smart they would turn off the tube and do some reading..

America is, by and large, a reflection of the mainstream media. Most folks, I suspect, formulate their national and worldwide opinions and views based on what they see on the TV and read in the newspaper.

That's all well and good until you start following the money. WHO owns the TV channel you're watching, or newspaper you're reading, and what is their agenda?

The media in this country is EVERYTHING.

Spin: Deciding what is "news," and then packaging this "news" to achieved the desired result.

America - many of us, anyway - is the byproduct of several generations of depending on the boob tube to dictate who we are and what we believe in. It's a subtle form of hypnosis, when you get right down to it.

That's what makes the internet such a tasty target to the left. A person, so inclined, can actually guide their search for news on the internet, instead of just taking whatever pablum is presented to you on the TV or newspaper each day.

The recent attack on the internet via SOPA and PIPA wasn't really about stopping online piracy, was it? Our government would LOVE to have the same control over the content on the 'net as they do over what you see on TV (think FCC) and newspapers (think massive money and political favors).

Bill Maher? He's a jerk, and I don't give a rat's ass about his vicious, vile ways.

But ya gotta wonder: Why is Rush Limbaugh, an admitted ultra-conservative, being attacked with such vigor and venom by the MSM, and Bill Maher, an admitted ultra-liberal (and now major Obama PAC contributor), getting a free pass? ("It's funny when he says it!")

The answer is pretty obvious.

And hence, the reason for this thread.

Best,
FB

The idea that home schooling in inferior to public schools is a joke. I was at a friends house Saturday for the evening, and they had a guest staying the night. She was a poli-sci major who currently works evaluating the effectiveness of school programs. She had terrible things to say about the Chicago Public School system she is currently working for. Early in the evening the doorbell rang.

It was a father and daughter doing some political campaigning. Turns out the girl was a home schooled 15 year old that knows another friends kids where are in the same home school system. We all had some very interesting conversation on the front porch enjoying an unseasonably warm March evening. The home schooler had no problems entering right into the conversation with the poli-sci major regarding our political system and our Constitution. Having had similar conversations with a couple of other home schoolers I really wasn't surprised at all.

Some seem to think that home schooling is a mom staying home and teaching her kids in the kitchen. That's not how it works. It's far more organized with specialized teachers for various subjects just like the government system, except the get good results.

I've known many home-schooled kids over the years, including my own. They all, without exception, rock.

Public schools would be far better off if big government stepped aside and let them do their job.

That same philosophy applies to the entire country, actually: Get out of our way and let us do our jobs. We do it FAR better than you do.

If Mr. Obama gets reelected, I wonder where Mr. Maher will fit in? Ambassador? Cabinet post? SuperPAC manager?

This is why school vouchers are so dangerous to the NEA establishment. Average per child cost is $7500-$15,000. A voucher of a fraction of that amount would provide each child more than enough to pool resources with other families and direct hire teachers. No school, no education board, no teacher's union.

10 kids at $10,000 per will buy one hell of a teacher.

PS. That is how education was done before public schools.

Maher is as I said NOT RELEVANT,
We know the press Leans left far enough to drag an elbow. So this does not surprise me

The only thing that does is his willingness
to provide money to BHO for reelection (Bottom Feeders Unite!).

My small experience with home school children indicates that they seem to be more settled and focused, then again they are usually with families that have strong
convictions related to their faith and the school environments are not acceptable to them.

We have removed G_D from School and Public
Soon We will be removed from his surroundings...

The vulgar attacks I presume he made On S.Palin or M.Bachman Are typical of that type of Curr, If I dont watch it and dont spend with the sponsors then it will go away

thanks for the effort though I don't want to sound like I am trivializing it as I am not

The lefties dont like Bill Oreiley, or Dennis Miller, Both are entertaining to a point ( B O is full of him self too. )

BTW both Palin / Bachman
Can Be Called by the C words

Charming...
Competent
Cordual
Centered
Carismatic
Christian
Correct ( RE Obammer )
