First, let me state I'm a 'Libber. I'm all for equal rights for women. Period.

While certain jobs, such as longshoreman and Infantry are not suitable for the majority of females, due to generally more upper body strength in males, and other physical differences, that is a generality, and does not apply to all people. There is a bell curve in these things. Cynthia Rothrock comes to mind....

So... IF this whole thing had been about "the Church" forbidding birth control to people who worked for them, My stand would be against the misogynist old men who protect child rapists and forbid Priestesses from serving their faith. Solidly.

But. This is an attack on those old farts and their obsolete and medieval customs. I don't agree with those customs, ( though, unlike many, I understand why they exist.... do you? ) and where they impact on daily life, I can usually ignore them. ( while never excommunicated, I don't consider myself a Member of the Catholic Church, no matter what it says on the Baptismal form. You'd have to ask the Inquisition what MY status is as an apostate. Barack's apostate status, in a different faith, is a different discussion )

This year, the President has asserted his power to determine if a group, ( and presumably a person ) is religious enough, in his view, to have Constitutional protection against government interference in their silly customs.

By first insisting that religious organizations pay for forms of birth control contrary to their religious laws, and then insisting that they, in fact pay for BC, but with a lie that they are not.... he breaks the First Amendment at least as badly ( but differently ) that the McCain Fiengold bribery reform bill did.

It's a violation of his oath.... in what I am sure is, in his view, a higher calling. ( I am cynical enough to think that higher calling is, in large part, getting votes. )

This all underscores the need to be cautious about Socialized Medicine and it's reach into your life...for your own good.

WHAT IF the Health Czar had determined that bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches were vital and necessary for good health, and mandated them to be part of your health plan?

Then the Council on American Islamic Relations objected because bacon is unclean in their faith?

So the President then told them they wouldn't have to pay for bacon....their insurance companies would have to, by Imperial Order?

How would that play out in the "media" that so loves this admin?

Accuse legitimate movements of being Astroturf while nearly EVERY movement and victim of the left is manufactured, fake, contrived and artificial.

Hypocrisy:
Demanding that the government stay out of your bedroom and womb
While simultaneously demanding they pay for your birth control and abortions.

Dave, you and the rest of these right wing dinks make me laugh.

You don't see the hypocrisy of wanting less government, but you want to let the government ban contraceptives? You want the government to let private insurance to deny coverage based on religious beliefs. You want the government to allow employers to pick and choose what medications they will and will not cover. It's okay for insurance providers to cover boner pills and vasectomy (which apparently some of you knobs don't understand is birth control). Sounds like you guys want all kinds of government control. Ya know what other religion bans birth control with Sharia Law? Why not just make all the women here wear veils too? Seems like the republicans want to bring "democracy" to the middle east while adopting their laws here.
Welcome to 1950. But then again when you're running the jokes that the republicans are for President, I guess you have to throw up all kinds of smoke screens to cover the fact up that they have no fcking idea of what they are talking about. A religious nut and a vulture capitalist. Good choice there guys. Neither of which have a snowballs chance in hell of winning.

kemn123t..ever notice Demo libs sleep with Ugly women
Boy, your stupidity and hatred shine though in ever frickin' one of your idiotic posts. Are you one of those guys that keeps his "women" barefoot and pregnant? Do you even have a women? I feel for her if you do.

I can't believe with all that's going on that birth control one of the main concerns. And now, once again, bring back the birth certificate. Blaming Obama for high gas prices while defending Bush back in 2008 saying he has no control over gas prices, which was 100% true. But now it's Obama's fault.
You guys sound like a broken record. But no surprise there.

Who's "banning contraceptives"?

There is a difference between having a moral objecting to buying them and banning them altogether.

No one is saying she can't have them. They are simply saying they wont pay to supply them to her.

Big difference.

You of all people advocate "separation of church and state" but now advocate violating that?

Your contempt of the Constitution is glaring.

but you want to let the government ban contraceptives?
Where in the whole wide world did you ever see me write or say such a thing.
That my friend is either a bold faced lie, or you're just trolling.
You ought to know enough about me to know I want the government OUT of the private sector.
I have nothing against birth control, at all.
I do however am very much against the government getting into "giving" away such unnecessary "healthcare" stuff.
You want the government to let private insurance to deny coverage based on religious beliefs.
I want private industry to do what they feel is best for their consumer.
If a insurance company denies birth control than the insured can go to an insurance company that does.
Market driven, you know, free market capitalism, NOT government intervention.
There is NO need for the government to get involved in birth control, much less healthcare in general.
You want the government to allow employers to pick and choose what medications they will and will not cover.
They do that now, and it's ok by me. Our insurance coverage for the company is cheaper if the policy we choose doesn't cover abortions, birth control, and some other nonessential medical expenses. We chose it that way, and everyone is happy with it, and it's reduced cost.
The current administration wants a "one size fits all" healthcare plan. That to me is just plain wrong, the government is not supposed to be mandating anything, period.
You want the government to allow employers to pick and choose what medications they will and will not cover.
In a word, yes.
It's okay for insurance providers to cover boner pills and vasectomy (which apparently some of you knobs don't understand is birth control).
Yes, but NOT the government.
Let the market decide what the insurance companies offer.
Sounds like you guys want all kinds of government control.
Did you mean to write that? You're beating me up for not wanting government in my life, and now you beating me up for wanting government in my life?
Let me make this clear, crystal clear if you will, I DO NOT WANT ANY MORE GOVERNMENT THAN WE ALREADY HAVE, IN FACT i WANT LESS, MUCH LESS, FAR LESS!!!
Now beat me up for that, I can take it.
Ya know what other religion bans birth control with Sharia Law? Why not just make all the women here wear veils too?
Religious freedom is fine, government intervention is another, and not needed.
If I don't like a particular religion it is my freedom to find one I like, or not follow one at all.
Why are you confusing Muslim, Christian, and Government?
It's actually easy to keep them separate, since they are (and should be) like mixing oil with water.
Seems like the republicans want to bring "democracy" to the middle east while adopting their laws here.
I'd love to see where you came up with that jewel! That my friend is one twisted point of view.
Stronger words have been edited out, I just have to keep reminding myself who Rocco is, where Rocco is, and how smart Rocco thinks he is.
Try again big guy, and remember I'm no republican. We've been over this before, either your brain hasn't the capacity for memory, or you're just trolling.
It's simple Rocco, I want the government to go by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, that's all.
Nowhere in the Constitution does the word "healthcare", "fair" or any type of "social justice".
I'll be honest with you, if you wrote all that crap about what you THINK I'm like or want, just to piss me off. You did well. Only problem is that you've really show just how confused and ignorant you are.
Ignorant about me thinking I would ever want more government on ANY level. You have to know I'd shrink government back to 1778 size if it were up to me.
Confused, hell, just read what you wrote, you've got government, Muslims, Christians, law and birth control all wadded up into one maddeningly display of mishmash I've read lately.
Boy Rocco, your stupidity and hatred shine though in ever frickin' one of your idiotic posts. There fixed that for ya.

What Rocco said is part of a strategy or deception that will be needed as this administrations stance on energy destroys the pocketbooks of the poor and middle class and loses votes for the coming election.

These lies are absolutely crucial in keeping the media sound bites focused away from the state of our economy and our standing around the world.

They know this strategy could work based on the results of the last election. With enough media and Hollywood in lock step with the message anything is possible. They have invested enormous time, money and energy into this character playing the part of a president.

It's worse than that. Folks like Rocco view the Constitution as a gross inconvenience and are willing to accept all sorts of inconsistencies in their position as long as their Progressive agenda is furthered.

Black is white, up is down, wrong is right.

The Framers intended for government to have no impact on religion but intended to allow the faith of citizens to guide their political decisions.

Rocco hates religion and all those who hold religious beliefs. Therefore, people of faith deserve to be stamped out. He'll fight tooth and nail to make sure that faith has never sees the light of day in any political aspect but is more than willing to use the government to attack religion and interfere with freedom of practice and belief.

Fluke was/is a plant. Self professed "reproductive rights" advocate who intentionally attended a RELIGIOUS institution in order to manufacture a fake grievance and parlyed by the current administration aided and abetted by a complicit media.

It's astroturf. The very same folks who advocate for "women's rights" also call Palen a wh*re with "slutty flight attendant" looks and were silent when BJ Clinton was blowing his load onto a blue dress.

Name a Progressive cause with public demonstration, and I'll show you astroturf with fake causes, manufactured outrage, and paid victims.

I'm tired of it.

Astroturf for sure. Reminds me of a reporter who approached an activist at some protest and the guy freely admitted to getting money through his union to hold a sign and look the part.

They need every media outlet, actor, musician and "working man" they can get because their agenda is so corrupt and full of holes it would fail miserably without the full on effort. The presidents launch of the YouTube channel African Americans for obama is the proof that this term has been disastrous. That the first president of color in our nations history needs to launch an internet campaign targeting this group is an admission of failure.

Rocco's tone in every one of his posts concerning political issues is a display of his hopeless anger at a dream he was sold by media outlets back in 08. He still holds some hope that this administration can live up to the hype but day after day he is reminded it was all a hoax. Its no wonder he is so bitter as are a lot of young people, minorities, women and people looking for work. He can't concede after putting so much blind faith in someone and risk the chance of admitting he was fooled.

So he comes here even though he said he was done and says some mean things to immerse himself back into the fantasy that he is doing the right thing and supporting the right cause.

but you want to let the government ban contraceptives

Once again the progressives attack by misrepresenting the views of the opposition. This happens way to consistently to be accidental. It's just plain dishonest and will lose all credibility and respect in my view.

The rest has been pretty well covered by others, but I will add...

I can't believe with all that's going on that birth control one of the main concerns.

I couldn't agree more. Of course this is an issue being manufactured by Fluke and those backing her. It was further pushed to the front page by BO himself who took time away from his vacations and golf games to personally call her and giver her his support. I find it criminal with all that is going badly right now that BO chooses to focus on this issue. PATHETIC!

OK, one more thing...

Blaming Obama for high gas prices while defending Bush back in 2008 saying he has no control over gas prices, which was 100% true. But now it's Obama's fault.

There was little that Bush could do that would have an immediate effect on gas prices. It's well known that it takes years to get a new oil field producing. Bush was dealing with the decision made years before that. BO is taking credit for the new oil that came online due to Bushes policies, while at the same time limiting offshore exploration, killing the Keystone pipeline, and stopping exploration on public lands. How do you spell hypocrisy?

Agree. I've been reading Dr. Corsi's book Obama Nation. He devotes some pages describing the "spin" that Mr. Obama's handlers put on him in the run-up to the last election. Everything that was presented to We The People was highly polished, glossy and glitzy, designed to promote Obama the Cult Figure, while downplaying (or, more accurately, ignoring altogther) his personal history or accomplishments up to that point in his political career (both for obvious reasons).

I *think* he has the same publicity folks this time around, and we can expect even more thrilling vignettes of Mr. Obama's remarkable "accomplishments" in office during the past three years (narrated by Tom Hanks, no less; I am SO pissed at him...), high on glamour and gloss (and people weeping in their seats), but short on actual substance.

Again, for obvious reasons.

It's all a show for Mr. Obama, a high-stakes episode of American Idol. Damn shame there are so many folks in this country who eat this stuff up with a spoon, and then have the gall to call the rest of us dinks for seeing through the sham.

http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/dayton-news/bi ll-introduced-to-regulate-mens-reproductive-health -1341547.html

I've been Waiting for this one.

I think it's hilarious. AND it Pi$$es me off.

Rush has made a career our of illustrating the absurdity of politics and human idiocy with absurdity. His "attack" on Fluke is one such, and it was a setup, designed to backfire on him. ( it's not like anyone who's ever listened to Rush can't predict what he'll say )

It was also rude. It makes no difference that the angry, elitist, and Obama loving leftist talking heads use even worse language, ( C**T for example, in Bill Mahers' case, even less kind words in Ubermans' ) What Rush said was just rude.

Rush, however, like the stars/producers of Mad Men, or Big Bang Theory, are entertainers, and you can change the channel, ignore or laugh at them, and they will have no impact on your life, if you choose to not care.

Seriously, The worst that can happen when I ignore Bills or Rushs blowhard rants is I miss an occasional joke. My not "watching" their shows, and not caring about their sponsors, is a statistical thing, observed & reported by cable and ratings companies, not, usually a case where jackbooted thugs roust me in the middle of the night to do illegal things to my person.

When Has Rush threatened to arrest you?

Yet, a lawyer working for the Obama re-election wants to arrest Rush, because he called a women a prostitute... as a joke, for wanting to be paid to have sex.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/28573 89/posts

Rush was rude. Gloria is a political tool. She's the one standing beside women accusing Cain of sex crimes. While there may be no "official" connection between Gloria and Barry, she works for him. This IS an orchestrated attack on "right wing" media. Rush may be an A----le, but he isn't trying to kill the first amendment. The other side, obviously, is.

Now..... in a funny...or not so funny response to old male idiots wanting to control a womens body... ( and, I say to them, Bite me. No. It's none of your damn business. ) old female idiots in the best tradition of Rush's show, illustrating absurdity with absurdity want to "violate my right" to have horny pills.

Bite me. No.

It's none of your damn business.

( and it is also obviously true that old fat men on the board at the insurance company are the reason I can get viagra from my insurance company. That's free enterprise. state Sen. Nina Turner? That's interference in MY reproductive rights. )

http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/293529/no-c ompromise-george-weigel

Lest we forget, Ms. Fluke was called before a special, unauthorized, sub-sub committee ( meaning a publicity stunt ) to make her statements about not having enough money, going to a $50,000 a year law school, to have birth control.

That was a stunt during a hearing on religious liberty concerning this Administrations decision that they, and they alone, would determine if the Constitution and Religious freedom applied to a Church run company. The Admins' decision was that the Catholic Church itself, was free from absolute control, but if a Church charity helped Jews, or Muslims, or athiests, or Protestants, that they would not be free from absolute control by the Government. This in pretty clear violation of the First Amendment.

I'm on record as disagreeing with the Church. I have several bones to pick with Church Policy and Doctrine.

The Church did not DENY Ms. Fluke birth control. If they had, I'd be on her side, loudly. They didn't want to GIVE a student what is banned by their faith, A point that is deliberately blurred by the mindset of the Progressive movement that believes as an article of faith that all you own is theirs, and all you have is given to you by the all powerful State.

Ms. Fluke's "testimony" was a very effective way to distract the public from the fact that this admin. has, in fact, established it's own faith and will feel no fear of persecuting other's.

Like yours. If you're not for them, you're against them.

Ann Coulter nails it again.

So, back to Fluke: Who is she, and how did she become the spokesperson for American womanhood? If we're allowed to submit names, I think we can do better than a Georgetown law student whose claim to fame is that she belongs to a college club on "reproductive justice."

Pursuing a typical path to liberal heroics, Fluke was an utter nobody whom the Democrats substituted in a last-minute witness-switch to testify about contraception -- as if her haircut isn't birth control enough -- at a hearing on "religious liberty."

Despite her credentials as a heretofore unheard-of "birth control activist," the Oversight and Government Reform Committee declined to accept this 11th-hour witness on the grounds that Fluke did not have appropriate credentials for any congressional hearing, much less one on religious liberty.

That was the Republicans' first foray into "silencing" Fluke's "voice."

Nancy Pelosi used an even less appropriate committee to ensure that Fluke's "voice" would be heard -- the Democrats' Steering and Policy Committee, the normal function of which is to give House Democrats committee assignments.

One longtime Democratic operative admitted privately that Fluke was the least-qualified witness ever to appear before a congressional committee.

Another excerpt from Ann Coulter:

In full indignation, Fluke said her critics were trying "to silence women's voices." She said this on ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, NPR and a number of other national media outlets.

Thus, Fluke became a liberal hero even braver than an actress standing up for abortion rights in front of a Bill Maher audience.

President Obama called Fluke and told her that her parents should be proud of her and to make sure she was OK. Hillary Clinton said conservatives were trying to control women. Bill Clinton called her to see if she had any plans for the weekend.

Hilarious!
