Yeah, and you can almost hear his friend screaming "WTF are you slowing down for?".

I have had a situation or 2 where I had to go into the shoulder of the oncoming traffic to get out of a jam. Ultimately it's our responsibility in our helmet to make the right decision. There have been many times I made the wrong one some with BAD results I thank GOD everyday he sent the guardian that day. Thanks for posting it helps me keep things in a proper perspective to start the season.

Yeah, not sure "WTF are you slowing down for" is the right response to someone stopping suddenly in front of you. But you can see the riders speedo pretty clearly go from 77 to 33 just before the accident. Assuming these are actual Germans (note the magazine) that would be like 45 mph to 20 mph assuming the speedo is reading kph. I think someone wasn't paying attention.

man, that sound, particularly in slow-mo.

Looks to me like the turn signal indicator on the dash is blinking. That would explain the slowing down.

I'm surprised the follower didn't just shoot past on the right. It looked like there was room. Looks like multiple errors to me. Not uncommon.

In the comment section he states he was trying to turn left into the parking lot. Scary

Did you notice what looks like a helmet lying loose on the far side of the road. I hate the thought of his injuries being fatal. I also looks like the oncoming car swerved to avoid the fallen rider. Let's hope everything turned out OK.
