Now what was it that was in those military convoys heading out of Iraq/into Syria just days before we invaded Iraq?

Al-Qaeda's already in Syria. Securing the nasty bombs against their acquisition by terrorists ought to be a high priority.

According to the Russian General in charge of the "ex" Spetsnaz guards of those convoys, Nerve gas, Chemicals to make poison gas, Mustard, and records.

Why do you ask?

BTW the Israeli spy guys said the same thing.

So does the King of Jordan, who had a tractor trailer of the chemicals he claims came from Syria blow up in his country, presumably prematurely since they missed him.

If you are looking for them, try the Bekka Valley, in the no-go zones run by Syria.

Syria has it's own homegrown WMD industry.
Syria is NOT like the countries around it, don't mistake it for the Kleptocracy that was Iraq, or the theocracy in Iran.
Yes, the elite troops wear purple cammo. Better than red coats, anyway. The Syrian air force has a lot of "relatives" in power positions, but still is the best in the area, besides Israel. The Army is well seasoned, fairly well trained for the mid east, and has good moral. ( except for those who are watching relatives get shelled by artillery, or killed by snipers. ) The Syrian Air Defenses are world class, pretty much top line Soviet.

Also the Assad family are Alawites, a warrior clan of some antiquity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alawite

All worth knowing as you watch to see if this Admin. is just talking a lot as part of the re-election campaign, or actually planning to aid the Syrian resistance.

If I was taking odds, I'd bet on this admin providing ineffective aid that kills far more people than not doing anything at all. IF the Assad government falls, it's replacement by the MB, radical jihadist Islam, then, of course, war.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/25/world/middleeast /us-agencies-see-no-move-by-iran-to-build-a-bomb.h tml?_r=1&hp

We are years past the estimates for Iran having atomic bombs. Since Iran considers Syria a kind of client state, where better to hide such activity? We'll see if Homs suddenly catches fire.....

If NYT editors were right, Germany in 1938 was just looking to restore prosperity.
6 years later, after tens of thousands were worked to death in slave labor camps, many of the German Elite were quite prosperous. Looting a continent does that.

I wonder how many of those "Weapons of mass destruction" have "MADE IN THE USA" stamped on them....

Pretty much, none.
"Made in China" perhaps, "Made in Russia" maybe, "Made In Iraq" fairly well documented, and "Made in Iran" a forgone conclusion.

WE haven't sold Syria weapons.
Never WMD's. NO conventional stuff to speak of. Russia had that market.

But other than the WMD shipments from Iraq before the Liberation of Iraq, and the massive Russian/Soviet conventional arms shipments, Syria has it's own Chemical weapons facilities.

So...

Are you for, or against kicking Asad out of power? How?
