This seems very positive, especially in light of the fact that EBR just posted last week that they were recruiting designers.
I have seen some corporate/technological deals between Indian companies and companies from other countries go REALLY badly though- the recent Mahindra diesel pickup fiasco comes to mind. I really hope this EBR collaboration turns out REALLY well.

Oh and I don't know if anyone in India would know what to do with a 1190cc bike when they usually ride 125cc bikes.
/end arrogant statement
Meh. If they can ride, they would use it to blow by me. If not, they would go like hell in a straightaway, and wobble around corners.
Just like all the Americans around me.
Actually, the more interesting question is the other way around. Why don't Americans know what to do with a 250cc bike? How many dumb Americans are riding around on a "neck wrung" 600cc inline four and getting 28 MPG while burning up $350 worth of tires every 5000 miles so they can "save money commuting"?
I'm not selling my Uly, but I can hardly wait for a practical and affordable E-Bike with a similar performance envelope as the 1985 KLR-250 I used to own.

Perhaps you are not seeing the bigger picture.

Hero MotoCorp is also developing the concept hybrid scooter called ‘Leap’, showcased at the recently-concluded Auto Expo, in collaboration with EBR.
This collaboration is HUGE on both sides of the Pond.
Congratulations to Erik Buell for tenacity, the Elves for lopping off "I'm" from impossible, and the hidden team in the background who we never hear about.

Call me a wet blanket, and it seems I'm in the minority here, but I think this whole deal is dumb. Maybe I'm crazy but I'd be excited to see other American companies sponsoring the race team. I'd be indifferent to international companies as sponsors and I'm flat out confused about another motorcycle manufacturer being a sponsor. Yeah yeah, it all makes sense on paper, yadda yadda, but it feels dirty to me.

So, will future EBR Models be built in India and then shipped to the U.S.?
I suspect that SOME maybe. Low dollar, high volume, tight margin bikes designed in the USA and built in India. High dollar, low volume, high margin bikes designed in USA and sold in India.
BUT even more interesting... How about inexpensive bikes for Central America? Building in the USA would make sense because of low freight and tariff cost.
There are circles within circles here and we know next to nothing about this. Erik still has that 200 year plan.
I do know that Erik is hiring and going big time racing. that is super news.

To really get inside this . . . try taking the motorcycles COMPLETELY out of the equation.
Some of you have seen my various posts over the prior months about the "moved cheese".
If you are looking at a photo of the 1190RS while trying to figure this out . . . well, it's like trying to drive 100mph while navigating by the white line outside the drivers side window.

there are plenty of rich people liek in italy where the rich own ducatis and the rest of the country on vespas. Moto Gp is coming to India soon and this proves India wnat to step to the next step. they dont want to be behind China
“This is a flexible partnership and though EBR specialises in high-end bike technology, it can also be adapted to low end specification products, which are our forte,” said Pawan Munjal, managing director and chief executive, Hero MotoCorp. “By next year you will see a commuter segment motorcycle that is run on an adapted EBR technology.”

Very exciting news! Very happy to hear but I was really excited about the EBR 3 Cylinder ecoboost that I have been riding for the past month or so in my dreams.

Yeah I don't get it. And while it seems cool, it scares the crap out of me. Its like Honda sponsoring Yamaha in WSBK. BUT....I'm sure what is unknown to us now will be clear as a bell a year from now, and it will all make perfect sense.

Seems a little odd but i hope it's a great move and wish Erik and EBR nothing but huge success, that said... i do know i would never buy a bike made in India!!
