looking good Dave.... now go put some mud on it : )

I have put about 300 miles or so on mine since the rebuild. It was nice to check the oil and it still look clean. Before, It would have been black by now.

So Mark how do you like it now with all the work you've just done, HP/Torque & Gearing ?

Didn't work on the Jeep yesterday, holding off till Saturday.

I love it! The 4.56 gears make for a nice and easy take off.... I don't have a huge cloud of smoke behind me anymore.
The main thing I got is piece of mind.

I'm really looking forward to getting it back on the trail and seeing how it does.

You will love the difference. This is a proper set of trail modifications that make the Jeep noticeably more trail ready.

I am so close to dragging my CJ back up to the shop to get back at it. I have a few more too long, dragging, nagging projects to get out of the way first. I cannot wait!

Dave that is a great looking rig. Too bad you are on the opposite side of the country!

Mark, I am going to swing at that Oak Ridge jamboree. Depends on timing, depends on having dinosaurs out of the way, depends on expendable funding. Oh yeah.....and having the Jeep ready!

I know I can't do the Oak Ridge one.
I will have just gotten back from Fla. and work will be CRAZY!

What about the one in Marshall County KY. May 3-5th?

and a couple of pics for the hell of it..

Lookin' good!

A personal observation. You may want to move that spare tire up about a foot. If it catches the ground on a flat to vertical transition it can really bend your quarter panels and tailgate around. I did it to mine and could not believe how much damage it did.

Perhaps the cool looking angled mount between the rear angled roll bars? or just straight up.

My observation, and I'm not a Jeeper (just jealous)...

If he moved the tire up another foot, it would seriously compromise the rear view mirror- unless, maybe a Wink mirror was installed.

I've used a 5 panel Wink in everything I've ever driven. When I first installed one in my first car (73 Super Beetle), I almost rear-ended someone a couple of times, being fascinated at all I could see beside/behind me- it REALLY helps eliminate most all blind spots!

Again, good idea Vern, but the odds of your scenario can't trump safety 98% of the rest of the time.

I'm gonna have to get a D/S or dirt bike of some sorts, just so I can witness the shenanigans...

Mirror? I don't run no steenken' mirror! I have outside mirrors like his and like those on my Uly. As a matter of fact, his are Uly mirrors!

Inside rearview mirror.....just one more thing to break and make your head bleed when you roll it over on a trail.

I'm thinking about taking the spare off and leaving in the garage unless I'm going on a road trip. The side walls are so stiff, I could probably make it home from work with no air in the tires!
When I get the chance to go hit the trail again... and.. if I have someone with me. More than likely, I will set the top off along with the doors and spare. That is a lot of lbs. I can save with less than 10 minutes of removal time

Fair enough, Vern- but I still swear by my Wink in regular traffic, especially "AhhllKillya Highway" and Kingston Pike... if I drive someone else's vehicle, it's amazing to see (not?) the difference.

I usually carry my spare on the trailer I am towing it on. If I kill one on a trail I can either limp it back or send someone to get it.

Brad I agree that in busy traffic those mirrors can be handy, but not so much on a trail at less than 20 mph. I tend to avoid Interstates and busy spots in my jeep. Even though street legal it lacks a/c, radio, cd player, speedometer and most creature comforts.

Uummm, boombox?! Heck, I've actually seen a dude walking down the street, recently here in Blount county TN, with a giant boombox, and a whole lotta pride.

Wow- I compressed lots of the thread above and distilled "Boombox".

True story, though.

Got me to thinking- one should really have a sound system wired and plumbed to work in the rigs in this thread.

I went to "Trail Quest" in Dublin Ohio to get my speedo gear.
Got to shoot'n the bull a little and I asked them how much to install my speedo gear while I went to lunch.... just joking... the guy said... "I'll do it for nothing" "Ya'll enjoy you lunch".. I said "Are you serious?"... he said "Yep" and that was that. Handed him the keys and I went to lunch with one of my jeep'n buds I met there.
We got back from lunch... The heep was ready to go and "Trail Quest" just got themselves a LOYAL customer.
I gave the guy that installed it 20 bucks... he attempted to refuse... I said now way... you saved me some time and that his next lunch was on me.
I love dealing with that kind of people/business and I will keep going back.

a little slow at work today
Get'n my flex on in our loading dock...

Mark - Im totally jealous! Thats cool.

Well, at 40 + mph my Jeep was wandering all over the road after the lift so I got new control arms the other day.

and painted the fenders

and a couple of bumper ornaments

I know I need to go out and get it muddy...but just so you know Im not afraid of grime, this is what my Uly currently looks like.

This is what my Jeep shop, (Jeep West) is currently working on...2.5 ton axles on that thing!

I did not notice the guy making any claims as to how they are better for the application. Knowing that atomized fuel is more efficiently burned in a combustion event, they should make it run smoother and should make for better mileage and power. But they did not claim that, they just claim that they work better, but to what end?
