That looks like a major face plant just waiting to happen!

Bet it's fun, though...

Where does one acquire such a thing?

It's awesome by the way.

There are two major sources for these bikes.

http://worksmancycles.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/p age38.html

http://www.hiwheel.com/boneshakers/index.htm

I got mine from Rideable Replicas.(three months build time/wait) These two outfits do sell each others bikes if you notice that they offer some of the same models.

"They distribute for me on the East Coast and I distribute for them on the West Coast. We’ve known each other now for maybe 39 years."

Most of them DON'T have brakes. You are on top of the wheel and a brake could easily spit you over. Ditto for pot holes.

A ZTL brake for that thing would weigh about 400 lbs.

I believe Ourdee has one of these as well. Always intrigued me. Would be fun to try it once.

It's like you've never rode a bike before. Very humbling with that big damned wheel. One fail to fire, one get off and one fall off, learning the bike inside the local Chevy garage..............so far.
Found out you must only get a toe hold on the rear peg. If you need to correct before you get off the peg with a full foot hold on the peg....you turn the wheel right into your firmly planted foot.Your legs need to be out of the way when you are seated and finding the pedals....or you turn the wheel into your pant cuffs.....to wit, both my inside pant cuffs have wheel dirt on them.Important to have good initial push off speed,or you'll never get to the seat before steering correction stops you..........
