After reading that PETA thread, I find myself with a strong desire for some good BBQ. The weather is supposed to be in the 40s this Saturday. Anybody interested in joining me for lunch in Troy, NY at the Dinosaur? It'll be my last chance for Dinosaur before my surgery.

I'm in Tarrytown on Saturday all day for my NYS MSP update, or I'd love to join you. The weather is looking to be damned near perfect... at least down here on Long Island, too.

I'll definitely be hitting the Troy Dino in June, though... on my way back from the Americade (just as I did last year).

Hmm around what time. I might not bring the bike, but I will try to drive over, maybe bring the family as I could go for Some DinoBBQ (And I live 13 miles away from it)

The ADK Rally in May isn't very far from Troy, by the way.

Just sayin'...

Last year, we all met at Noon, and that worked out O.K., Let's try for Noon again.

There are also some decent places in and around Lake George. Troy will be on the way for anyone coming from the south and not far out of the way from the east or west depending on the route.

Honestly; I've never eaten okra. They carry it in the frozen Vegetable aisle at the local supermarket. I would try some, but I have no idea of the best way to cook it. One of these days, I'll be around somebody who knows what to do with it. Then, I'll be either in the Pro-Okra or Pro- Choice camp. I can see the bumper stickers now:
CHOOSE OKRA - Your mother did
or
Keep your laws off my vegetables!
or maybe
It's Not A Choice, It's A Side Dish

However, I'll be having a double order of beans with my pulled pork tomorrow. I like the beans at the Dinosaur.

Wife said she wants Q as well. So Myself, the wife and Daughters will all be there. I'll attempt to at least where a buell shirt so I fit in, since I'll be driving the family mover (AKA tank) over.

Crusty- to paraphrase B.O.C.- "Don't Fear the Okra"...

Yes, it IS somewhat different to prep and cook with, but either stewed or fried, mmm MMM good! Lots of recipes on the web... we had great success by soaking the cut pods in pickle or pickled pepper vinegar before frying.

The GF and I planted one Okra plant last year, and the dang thing grew to at least 12 feet! A big plus is the fact that it's a relative of the hibiscus, and prior to each pod you'll get a big, white flower... then every other day you'll start snipping off the pods. Don't handle the plant without gloves though- somehow it makes you itchy...

And, last but not least, you can't make a proper gumbo or jambalaya without it!

Come on up, Frank; when was the last time there was a Buell/Dinosaur event that you missed? Besides, it just wouldn't be the same without you.

I just got home. As usual, I ate too much and had too much fun. I took the Interstates out, and the twisty route home. It was a small group; me, Frank, Danielle and Bobby. We ate well and had some good conversation. Frank; you've got a Real Peach in Danielle. You are a very Fortunate Man.
The weather got worse after I left Troy, and by the time I was going over the Taconic Trail, it was snowing moderately. But as soon as I crossed into Mass, the snow stopped. And by the time I got over the Mohawk Trail, the sun came out and the temps went back up into the 40s. All told, I rode about 300 miles, total.
Good friends, good conversation and good food; what more could I ask for?
It was definitely a Good Day.

I was getting snowed on on my way home too. The temperature dropped quicker than the forecast I looked at said. Oh well, still a good dino run!

I was on my way up when my bike crapped out. Lost all guages, then it pooped. Battery is dead and it's not charging. Good thing my trusty Ulysses broke down right in front of a service station! So I bought a car battery and some wire and wired right to the battery cables. Big old Interstate battery on the triple tail! Got me home, but I missed the party. I wonder how far I can ride like that?

Finally got home a few hours ago, lots of NSFW details I can't post about!

Great time seeing you guys. I'll have to go through that powerpoint and post the pictures, but here is that Gerber picture that was discussed as we left the restaurant.

John, good luck with the surgery.

Dan, there was a guy with an 1125 that had a stator fail, he did what you did and rode it 400 miles home without a headlight. To take a random guess without seeing your bike, I'd say its the 77 connector, just going by experience.

I'll have to look at that connector when I get some time. Right now, I can't seem to get a minute to maintain my bike.

Good luck, John. See you at the next meetup.
