Not me. Watched the race from turn 12. Traffic was tiresome coming back to country view from the races. HC2012 is winding down too soon. Had a great time at two season's garage. Dennis shared the back of the rental truck during the rain today. Slick joked with me about the wheely riding on the small Hero pit bike. I got to watch the stunt rider power sliding three feet away from me. Erik took time for a steady parade of fans. Sat around the camp fire and cooked supper with Matt. Rode through some more rain today. I rode the fuel injected Blast today. Drank 4 double diet rockstars. Weather warmed up today. Yacked and had fun with Court and Dave Gess near the pits. Met and saw a lot of Buellers today. Had a great time.

It was an absolute ball . . . even with the iffy weather we had a great time and it was fun to see old friends and meet new ones.

It was klinda neat that the weather gave us a chance to all hang out in Gus's for a couple hours and visit. It was neat that Frank flew all the way from Frankfort Germany . . .the pics of his bikes were incredible.

Looking like next year is shaping up to be an exciting one as well . . . .

Thanks to all for making this a GREAT BUELL HOMECOMING.

Well, I am glad Dennis recovered from his shame and showed off his Penske truck!

Photos from Road America anyone?

Sounds like regular Wisconsin weather where it has hailed on me in July.

I used a trailer to get my gear and bike to HC this year. It was a learning experience.
The 5x8 sits in the draft of my TJ so well that there was no notable difference in my fuel mileage. ie. it still gets 15 mpg with or without a trailer.
I carried extra junk that I used none of.
The Buell goodies that Matt and I traded could have been hauled in a second ride on the Uly at a cost of 2 gallons of fuel.
I'll ride to and from next year.

First, I'd like to thank my wonderful wife whom, I'll admit, I don't fully appreciate at times. She made the TS garage the hit it was.

Secondly, to my new friends...Roger (a true gentle soul), Ourdee (he may look innocent but...), Matt (probably the only FI Blast I'll ever ride...very cool BadWebber), and who can forget Milt... my eyes are still burning buddy You guys are the reason why HC is still going strong.

And my local friend and riding Partner Jgonzo, who puts up with me and believes I know what I'm doing

This was my second HC. It was far better than the first. That's because I participated more.

Thanks for sharing your time with us.

I DVR'd the races for Sunday.

Good showing for the EBR team.

Nice touch at the end with the "cheeseheads" around Danny.

Steve,

I really appreciate the hospitality that you and Doris showed to all of us. (If I goofed on her name, I meant your decidedly wonderful wife.)

This is actually precisely what I was hoping HC would be like.

It was, simply put, a spectacular weekend . . . . the local folks who brought this together has every reason to be proud.

It was a most unusual Homecoming and perhaps one of my favorites.

I missed the garage but what a neat idea it was and it's fabulous how, each and every year, so many wonderful friendships grow out of Homecoming.

Steve, be sure to send me your contact info and the shirt size for Doris so we can get her an EBR shirt. Even though I didn't meet her, I have a funny feeling she likely was one of the hardest working folks this weekend.

I downloaded 2,057 photos and there are some dandy ones and some that best never see the light of day . . .

: )

Thanks again to all for a fabulous time.

I echo the comments above. I had a great time, even though I had to ride home in Big Bird. It DID come in handy on Saturday while Mom Nature was trying to figure out what she was going to do.

Penske

...You have to admit, I had the coolest Penske at Homecoming!! (Yeah, I KNOW it was the ONLY Penske at Homecoming, but I have to salvage SOME dignity!)

It was great seeing the "regulars" as well as meeting new folks. I'll get things patched up and plan to do it again next year...and make the trip on the bike BOTH WAYS!!!

Nothing to lose dignity about, Steeleagle, as you well know. I'm curious, how did you secure your bike in the truck? I've thought that if I had a breakdown on my Uly while far from home and no Buell dealers were in the area, I'd consider renting a truck and getting the bike home. What is needed to do it? Thanks. When I rode Harley's and had breakdowns on the road, and yeah I had several, Harley dealer's were always close by.

It probably wasn't the ideal situation, but I bought 4-15 ft. ratcheting straps at the local hardware. I let the bike sit on its sidestand (no chocks available to set it vertical) and just secured it to the lower rails inside the truck with a "X" pattern to try to hold it in one place. I checked it frequently to make sure it wasn't walking around and was concerned the sidestand might not take the bouncing.

Otherwise if the sidestand wouldn't take it (or wasn't there) I'd have tried to stabilize the tires so they wouldn't side out from under the bike with bumps. (Make believe wheel chocks.)

It survived over 7 hours of travel and doesn't seem any worse for wear...other than the wear I put on it in to make Big Bird necessary in the first place.

The local rentals had no trucks smaller than a 16 footer, which kinda worked out since it had a ramp and the side rails for tying down. I would have preferred a van or pickup, which would have created a whole new tie down issue.

Thanks for the kind words regarding my better half...Doris. She makes my world complete.

And it is true, without her, the TS garage would not have been what it became. Brats and chili. Next year we'll have to have you guys sleep over so we can drink some of the local micro brew

Court, thanks for your kind words. We appreciate all you've done for all these years to help build this "family" of Buell hooligans. You and Erik are friends to all of us. Thanks for all you do to keep it together!

Court, you have a PM with the Doris details.

Better late than never...

Here's my Homecoming adventure!
Since I arrived early, as is my typical MO, I got to spend a little time with my parents and friends in the area while waiting for Frank to arrive. I went to lunch at the Quaker Steak and Lube with my parents and saw this Hal's Buell #1 plated bike hanging from the ceiling:

Hal's #1 1

Hal's #1 2

After Frank arrived I had to figure out something to occupy our time before Homecoming officially kicked off. Since this was Frank's 3rd time to Homecoming I had to dig a little deeper to find something for us to do. Heading South of the border into Illinois, we went to the Volo Auto Museum.
The Munster's Dragula:

Dragula

The museum is preparing to receive the Munster's Koach in about a month, so I know I'll be headed back to Volo when I am home for Christmas as I've never seen the Munster's Koach in person and it is my ultimate dream car.
This beauty was for sale - for roughly the price of 3 EBR 1190RS's:

Volo GSX

They even had one of the Hearses used in Terminator 3:

Terminator 3 hearse

Seeing this car was a little foreshadowing for Homecoming, as somebody was saying something about putting the band back together...

Bluesmobile

Heck, even Spidey had some representation there:

Spidey bike

Magnet on a Green new Beetle in the parking lot:

Support Zombies

After leaving Volo Frank and I headed to Wilson's digs in Kenosha. Wilson took us to the Wisconsin Motorcycle Museum just a hop, skip and jump away from his place. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Bimota's, Ducati's, Moto Guzzi's and a bunch of other brand motorcycles. But what really caught my eye was this - Where have I seen this before?

taillight

If the well ever runs dry for an early Buell (RR 1000 up to S3) taillight, it was used (in it's unmodified form) on the Moto Guzzi Mille GT:

Next post starts the Homecoming pics,

It was REALLY COOL to see such an early Buell at Homecoming - RR 1000 #2:

As you can see here, both Erik and Frank enjoyed seeing it too:

Gotta love that warning!

The Uly XT model was well represented:

Jeff's 1989 RS 1200 and my XT-BOLT - don't you just hate it when a tree jumps out in front of you while you're taking a picture:

1989 RS to 2008 XT

Frank bought a new camera for the trip and he made good use of it:

Frank and Danny's Bike

Love the decal:

American Superbike

Back in the day I had a flag design paint scheme figured out for my S2, but thought it was too flashy for me. Even so, I love seeing the 1190RS in red, white and blue! It even looks stellar from an ants' eye view (it's a shame the Saddleman banner was in the background):

Danny on the track:

2 hands, 2 cameras:

Random fun shot of Frank and I:

It looks even better in the sun:

Time for some signatures:

The 'canvas' they signed was the plate off my 1125CR:

It's definitely true that there is more Buell representation at Road America than the other races I've taken in. Interesting exhaust treatment on this 1996 S1...

Not so nice exhaust

And one pic from a stop on my trip back to NC - a full size Hot Wheels car:

Looking forward to next year's Homecoming adventure - Homecoming 2013!
