So I've been wondering the last several days about a BadWeb succession plan. This site is just too valuable to this community! And, as an old geezer myself  who has put together a "Final Flight Plan", I thought maybe we need a discussion about what the future of BadWeb might be. What would you old timers do to preserve this site? And the young bucks? Let's talk... | ||

The internet (including Badweb) is going to to be shut down soon if SOPA/PIPA passes, so it won't matter what happens when Blake kicks the bucket. | ||

Well if Blake ever relinquishes power to Frogster we will be over ridden with Ponies and banhammers. Oh and I'm sure some of the PR rules will be removed. Not that i mind either honestly. | ||

Dk, it's honestly been ages since I banned anyone other than spammers. Everyone including the 1125board has behaved. Either that or ponies taught me to love everyone! Buellkowski, even that won't help, if the SOPA/PIPA bills pass, there will be mass censorship, and many sites including Google and Facebook will be shut down. Wow, has this thread gone off topic. What I meant by "Final Flight Plan" is simply this...you had better have your records in order, that is, easy to find, with an easy to navigate way to find them. Single page with information as to where each and every document is located...eg; life insurance policies. Paper and electronic versions. All under the umbrella of a revocable trust fund. Short of printing out, or electronically copying and pasting all that I've been interested in via these forums, I'll be at a real loss someday if that information, that is BadWeb itself, is no longer available to us. | ||

Two, Just a thought: good to have one in the vault; have another more handy to you. What if you need to evacuate, or if the bank has "issues" (more and more likely in these times of huge bank-ruptcies, very tumultuous financial times). I'm thinking of this January holiday weekend, for example: the bank won't be open to let you into your safe deposit box until Tuesday. I live in a coastal town, so maybe I am overly cautious, but between thinking about natural disasters, and the fact that I don't count absolutely on the safety of a bank's safe deposit boxes, I like multiple backups. I guess it's not necessarily to you personally that I am writing, it's more of a general observation. | ||

Xdigitalx, funny thing, what you posted is enough to get Badweb removed from search engines, blocked by ISPs making it inaccessible indefinitely without proper due process. That picture which I assume isn't your work, could net you up to 10 years in the slammer. | ||

Drkside79, I think Froggy is referring to the (probably notXdigitalx's, maybe copyrighted) photo, innocently enough posted up for a laugh, and, like an innocent doe in the headlights, about to be crushed by the consequences of the "Stop Online Piracy Act" (SOPA/PIPA, as referenced above). Hello SOPA/PIPA, goodbye internet as we know and love it. | ||

Yea that is just paranoia. scare tactics. Once these rules are made, you (and bad web)will just have to comply with them. Bad web will as well. Of course I would also. I see no problems. They make new laws everyday. Like, not being able to post that pic is infringing on my rights? I could care less about that pic or the posting of it or anything in Craigslist's "rant and rave" section. | ||
